I really want this response from Asda to be sarcastic

Sorry but I do love a bit of sarcasm, what do you think of Carlo’s response to my 2 rotten sweet potatoes with a sell by date of Thursday? Is it me or is the reply slightly over the top?
I really hope he is being slightly sarcastic with an attempt at being funny and not genuinely saddened by my experience of sweet potato gunge. Poor Carlo.
I’ve managed to get over the ‘distress’ of the incident fortunately Grin

There is no amount that can compensate for your distress; but here's £3 - I love Carlo!

arethereanyleftatall · 03/09/2019 21:23

I would think it's a template and he has simply added in 'potatoes' and '£1.20'

NotMaryWhitehouse · 03/09/2019 21:23

😂 that's brilliant! Excellent work from Carlo.

Byorderofthepeakyblinders · 03/09/2019 21:24

Totally generic response that he has copied and pasted. It's so over the top it's actually a bad reply as the generic response doesn't suit the small complaint

Butchyrestingface · 03/09/2019 21:25

”I know that you are not after it”

Do carry on, Carlo.

Cannotresist · 03/09/2019 21:25

Mail merge. Probably not thought through how ridiculous it sounds for cheaper items.

Bookworm4 · 03/09/2019 21:26

Possibly a standard script that they slot your details into. Be glad it’s not the customer service troll guy, he’s hilarious 🤣

Brittany2019 · 03/09/2019 21:26

«I know that you are not after it...» WTF, Carlo? Grin

Fatted · 03/09/2019 21:28

Why do I get the impression that English is not Carlo's first language and it is somewhat lost in translation.

ScreamingValenta · 03/09/2019 21:29

"I know you are not after it" Grin

Shinysun · 03/09/2019 21:31

I hope it's not a template and he was being sarcastic Grin this would be my perfect job.

MsVestibule · 03/09/2019 21:37

I don't care if it's a cut and paste job, it still made me laugh!! 'There is no amount that can compensate for the distress you felt about this' 😀.

But OP, well done for bouncing back from this horrendous rotten potatoes incident and not contacting the DM with a sad face photo. That shows real emotional resilience.

MedalMedalMedal · 03/09/2019 21:41

Admit it, you were after it really. Whatever it is 🤣

Intheupsidedown · 03/09/2019 21:41

@Bookworm4 a part of me wants to be trolled by that guy!

Whatnotwot · 03/09/2019 21:42

Well let’s be honest, there’s nothing more distressing than a rotten sweet potato. I’d write back agreeing and asking for 100k compensation to include loss of earnings while you take the necessary time to get your life back on track after such trauma.

Flairhead · 03/09/2019 21:42

Nah, not sarcasm or trying to be witty. I work in a similar job and see a lot of similar emails from my colleagues. They're just trying to be empathetic but don't always choose the right words.

Ohhhh · 03/09/2019 21:43

Carlo.... what a legend Grin

RosaWaiting · 03/09/2019 21:46

This has made me lol so hard

Thing is, I want them to write back to Carlo with other problems so I can read his replies, regardless of whether they are mail merged, cut and pasted....WE WANT MORE CARLO Grin

DishingOutDone · 03/09/2019 21:48

No idea, but I like it that Carlo acknowledges you are not after it. I imagine him saying it like the "plenteee wet" man in the kitchen roll ads.

Mooey89 · 03/09/2019 21:48

😂😂😂😂😂😂
No such amount can ever make up for the distress... hold on.. will £3 do?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/09/2019 21:49

Wow. Good on Carlo. Must’ve been a slow day in the complaints department. I assume they are competing to see just how far they can go before someone notices. I would have added a bit about responsible members of staff being taken out and flogged.

DishingOutDone · 03/09/2019 21:49

I'm with Rosa; I think we should address a number of issues to Carlo and see where it goes.

BTW Rosa I read that as "this has made me hard". Too much kitchen roll for me I think.

Snooks1971 · 03/09/2019 21:50

I do love Carlo a little bit I must admit.
I didn’t even ‘complain’ just stated the facts, 2 of them were proper slimy gunge.
Delivery was Saturday 5-7pm and you get 3 days to ask for a refund by pressing the refund button. It was 5.15pm today and I imagine the refund button had expired by 15mins hence I emailed...
It’s the principle and I hate chucking food away

RosaWaiting · 03/09/2019 21:53

Dishing, that mistake could happen so easily! 😂😂

It’s actually very clever to say “no amount could compensate for the distress” because you then offer 1p as a token.

I agree with pp saying there’s probably a staff competition going on. What can we think of that Carlo can help with - not a euphemism!

Snooks1971 · 03/09/2019 21:53

I feel bad not replying to Carlo now
And I wasn’t after anything just my £1.20
Oh I really hoped it was bored sarcasm from Carlo not a generic email (sad face)
