Is this the new trend that I've heard about

Please tell me it's not. Dd did her best wtf confused and horrified face as did I. I'd heard things on here about a new trend for men involving too-short trousers and no socks but thought it was a big city thing. This was a small seaside town. Dd mainly baffled as the ankles looked rather feminine compared to the suit and beer belly and beard above them 🤣

Is this the new trend that I've heard about

I wouldn’t say it was new. I’ve been seeing it where I live for a few years. Maybe there’s just a lot hipsters round our way!

Lemoneeza · 20/08/2019 21:17

This trend has been around for yonks. Each to their own. Don't wear it if you don't like it.

DCITennison · 20/08/2019 21:19

Is that a picture you took of someone?

SinglePringle · 20/08/2019 21:19

That’s been around in London for so long those that wear look twats because it’s over, not because it’s new.

Oneborneverydecade · 20/08/2019 21:20

I think that's a particularly bad example tbf

RollingRedHills · 20/08/2019 21:23

That's a terrible example because the trousers are baggy round the ankles where they should be rolled up or a bit more tapered.

user1473878824 · 20/08/2019 21:24

@DCITennison well if you can identify him from that tell him to stop dressing like a twat.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 20/08/2019 21:29

Hmmm, not many hipsters where I live apart from the bloke opposite and I've never seen him without socks with his suit. I live in a semi rural big village/small town so have obviously missed the trend until now. More likely to see socks and sandals round here! Although I've read that that is now a thing Confused

NameChange84 · 20/08/2019 21:31

I’d say that’s been around for at least 6 years.

Yodude · 20/08/2019 21:32

I hope he didn't see you taking a picture of him. I'd rather dress dubiously than take pictures of people I think look stupid to post on the internet and slate.

ShinyMe · 20/08/2019 21:33

Lots of young ish blokes round here have been dressing like that for years now. As pp said, usually tighter trousers, but still.

Yes, I think it looks ridiculous, not to mention sweaty in the shoes. But then I'm sure they think I look ridiculous in my gold Docs.

DtPeabodysLoosePants · 20/08/2019 21:33

6 years! Nobody told anyone here it seems.

OP posts:
Alsohuman · 20/08/2019 21:33

As a pp said, bad example. The trousers should be rolled.

PencilSkirt · 20/08/2019 21:35

If you took a picture of somebody and posted it on the internet then you are being utterly unreasonable.

NameChange84 · 20/08/2019 21:36

It seemed to become popular round about the dawning of the man bun and mr twit beard. I was living in Manchester at the time. Very hipster. Now I live in a smaller town up North and it’s rife.

picklejimmy · 20/08/2019 21:36

What baffles me is the ankle singers paired with white socks all the boy seem to be sporting in school.

Spacerader · 20/08/2019 21:37

Def not new. This has been around for ages

InterestingView · 20/08/2019 21:38

Theres nothing wrong with taking photos of random peoples ankles! It's only just become illegal (I think) to take photos up peoples skirts! OP YANBU dont worry about it.

picklejimmy · 20/08/2019 21:39

*ankle swingers

My phone is not my friend today.

ShirleyPhallus · 20/08/2019 21:40

Did you find that pic on google or take it yourself?

BornInAThunderstorm · 20/08/2019 21:40

Haha no worse than the sliders and socks trend, now that’s baffling!

CruellaFeinberg · 20/08/2019 21:41

@DCITennison

Is that a picture you took of someone?

No its obviously an impression done using the method of interpretive dance...

Ffs it's a picture of some feet, hardly the persons birth certificate and payslip!

PasDeGeeGees · 20/08/2019 21:41

Looks bloody silly if you ask me.

CruellaFeinberg · 20/08/2019 21:42

@ShirleyPhallus

Did you find that pic on google or take it yourself?

Why does it matter?
