I don't know the difference. Except Netmums seems full of advertisements so I never really get to read anything on there. I have noticed on Mumsnet though, the odd comment like,' You should be on Netmums.' Why? AIBU to think Mumsnet better than Netmums?

Mumsnet. You can fucking swear and talk about shit. Wankers, cunts and dicks.

Netmums, you have to be on your best behaviour Grin lol.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 15:32

Netmums is deemed to be too nice/fake sincere with its ban on swearing, endearments like hun and glittery banners?

Mitzicoco · 22/07/2019 15:33

I can swear but I can't spell evidently!

I was only using netmums. I've been using it for years and I'm a creature of habit so wouldn't have started using mumsnet other than the fact netmums are currently changing stuff on their site and you're currently unable to post, reply only read old entries so came onto mumsnet. I like mumsnet, it's a lot busier than netmums.

Mitzicoco · 22/07/2019 15:35

@RageAgainstTheVendingMachine
love your name!

DirtyDennis · 22/07/2019 15:39

People on Mumsnet are posher and richer than those on Netmums

InTheEvening · 22/07/2019 15:41

OP: My diamond shoes are too tight.

Mumsnet: Get a grip, give your head a fucking wobble and sort your life out.

Netmums: Oh my god you poor thing xxx that's so awful Hun, sending love dust and sparkles xxxx

avalanching · 22/07/2019 15:44

Netmums is full of drips, and they think mumsnet is savage 😁 there's also a couple of arsehole men who jump on every feminist themed thread to mansplain that we have equality and that we just don't understand it.

Nothingsuitsmelikeasuit · 22/07/2019 15:46

I stopped looking at netmums when I saw a thread that went something like this (working not exact but the gist is right)

OP - my husband hits me/throws stuff/screams at me if I spend money/don’t cook dinner timed for the second he walks through the door/am not up for sex/house isn’t clean enough/I breathe too loudly etc

Poster 1 - we that sound hard hun can you lot get a cleaner to help, maybe then he won’t be so stressed about the house

Poster 2 - get him to call you when he leaves work so you can get dinner sorted for when he comes home, he’s working hard so he’s probably starving

Poster 3 - men do need sex to feel happy in a relationship, can’t you try a bit harder

And it just went on and on like that Shock it was a massive shock after reading similar threads on mumsnet (and having a brain).

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/07/2019 15:48

Well at the moment no one can get on netmums as they updated it and it was shit. That why ive deflected to the dark side lol.

Although ive been on here a few years.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 15:52

netmums - founded 2000 - forum 2004 - the 3 cofounders sold it 2011
2016 post tax profit £1,518,962 down by a third on previous year
2018 downsized - allegedly now operates with minimal moderation?

mumsnet - founded 2000 - hasn't been sold, 2011 gransnet founded
2016 post tax profit £1, 698,000 went up by a third the following year
self-moderating - we report the posts to mnhq/nightwatch also do a sterling job

NaturalBornWoman · 22/07/2019 15:52

there's also a couple of arsehole men who jump on every feminist themed thread to mansplain that we have equality and that we just don't understand it.

Tbf there are a couple of those who turn up here from time to time too. Maybe they get slightly more robust responses though.

avalanching · 22/07/2019 15:53

@NaturalBornWoman yes I think the problem with netmums is there are very few women championing feminism, and the men (and sadly many females there too) really dominate the anti-feminist sentiment. I was thrilled to find a WHOLE SECTION for feminism and really busy too here.

DeRigueurMortis · 22/07/2019 15:55

I tried NM for a bit but it just gave me brain atrophy.

I had to detox and lurk on MN for a good 6 months to recover (and get rid of the glitter).

missyB1 · 22/07/2019 16:00

Good and bad on both sites, this one is much busier which is why I stick to this now.

Wombleish · 22/07/2019 16:01

Isn't Netmums where the women with 'mummy' in their Facebook names go? I have no idea, I've never looked at it more more than 2 minutes without brain-atrophy.

Wombleish · 22/07/2019 16:03

@DeRigueurMortis Oops, didn't mean to copy your phrase there, I didn't see it before I posted. Just shows the effect NM has though Grin

Willow2017 · 22/07/2019 16:05

I stopped going on NM when I saw a couple of posters being ridiculed and ranted at for mentioning how gender self Id was affecting womens place in society/their safety etc. Men in womens prisons, 'inclusion packs' for schools, men being charged with crimes but being recorded as women etc (when it was actually just emerging that this was going on and discussed widely here) There is no place for feminism on NM apparently.

Head in the sand replies "never going to happen, transphobic lies, nobody believes thats true, man hater etc". Was uterly astounding. One man was particularly vehnement about it. Never been back.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 16:08

Ah thank you OP

I am due a name change shortly but haven't thought of one yet.
I like puns or silly names usually so in the past was MarkGruffalo (because I love Mark Ruffalo but was being forced to read Julia Donaldson every other day) I was fleetingly Janeane Gruffalo to show a fellow poster what sock puppeting meant (Janeane Garofalo was in The truth about cats and dogs)
I was Sushisandthebanshees for a while until I met a fellow sushi,
I was MickeyBubbleBath one Xmas (very poor pun on Michael Bublé)
My favourite was Gin Swigmore (I had a Gin Wigmore obsession at the time).
So I usually bow down to other posters when I see similar, off the top of my head, Meryl Strop or was it Beryl, Loofah Vandross, WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRolls. [waves]
Not sure if I've been MaschriahScarey yet - a German colleague used to refer to her as that (schreien = shreeky!) Grin

RushianDisney · 22/07/2019 16:10

I agree with @Nothingsuitsmelikeasuit Netmums seems to be full of DV and rape apologists, defending the poor menz. On threads where the woman clearly has an abusive partner the only useful advice is usually from one of their mods linking to women's aid the rest of the sparkly Hun bleating isn't going to help anyone.

Pinktinker · 22/07/2019 16:12

Netmums is all ‘you ok hun? Xxx’ and I don’t appreciate that. At all.

Mumsnet is full of vipers, especially on AIBU and I do appreciate that Grin.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 22/07/2019 16:14

Netmums is Sandy
Mumsnet is Rizzo

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 16:14

Ah forgot one - I was also RitaKiaOra
I am not very mature for an old woman Wink
This does not take into account various monikers referencing popular tv and numerous competition namechanging. I tend to change names after about 500 conversations. I have been here procrastinating a decade though.
