I don't know the difference. Except Netmums seems full of advertisements so I never really get to read anything on there. I have noticed on Mumsnet though, the odd comment like,' You should be on Netmums.' Why? AIBU to think Mumsnet better than Netmums?

Just went across there but I don't like change - in fairness, their local boards look busier? The special needs sections looked like they had a fair amount of traffic too. But I couldn't find Chat Coffee house thing or a venting/ranting section (unless that one's Is this normal?!)
It got taken over by a french digital company so maybe that explains it changing over the years?

vodkaredbullgirl · 22/07/2019 16:25

Rage how can you get on, when it say maintenance when you try to sign in?

SagAloojah · 22/07/2019 16:27

Sounds like we need to stage an intervention on NM.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 16:35

I haven't signed in/registered/posted vodka I went and browsed a couple of older threads - which it let me do Confused

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 16:37

The home ed board is also busy. Whether I will join or not I don't know - I waste enough time on here but a problem shared is a problem halved.

DeRigueurMortis · 22/07/2019 16:40

@ChihuahuaMummy1 wins the thread Grin

RandomNameChange415 · 22/07/2019 16:44

Historically NM has a much more active (ie not completely dead) local section. I used to run a child-related website which had listings on both MN and NM local sections and we got about 90% of our traffic from NM.

Candyfloff · 22/07/2019 16:45

God NMs makes me sick.

Such sweet, sugary, fluffy, hun bollocks.
There are loads of begging threads over there too.

notatwork · 22/07/2019 16:47

Netmums is more maternity/antenatal isn't it, for those on ML or who decide to be SAHP? I've always thought the topics discussed were all closely linked to children/domesticity. It just seems more wholesome: more like an NCT coffee morning where you don't know anyone very well so you only skim the surface of who you are and stick to safe topics.
Mumsnet is (in spite of the name) more earthy and robust I think: lots of people with older DC or no DC at all just rubbing along with the sleep deprived mums.

Candyfloff · 22/07/2019 16:48

The tickers also.

Baby X is now 456 months 23 days 12 hours and 56minutes old.

Sadly LionelRichTea is already taken Sad
I went to go and change so I could come on here and say
You called? Grin
As I said not very mature for an old woman Wink
but my fiendish plot has been dashed by a fellow pun/biccy lover
Thank you though, will keep thinking. Maybe a Strictly one. Glitterball
There is the wonderful ShirleyPhallus on there. I can't make a pun from Motsi Mabuse though.

Mitzicoco · 22/07/2019 16:52

I hate that 'are you alright hun?' shite. Obviously not or else they wouldn't be posting? The only time it should be allowed is sarcasticallyWink

Oh ok not internet, misread and now I look a dick...sloping off now

GoGoGoGoGo · 22/07/2019 16:55

I’ve always felt that NM is where you go for advice you want to hear, where as MN is where you come for advice you need to hear.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 16:55

Pins on Star on chihuahua's bosom.
Darn it, StrictlyMumDancing has gone an' all. Moo and indeed Boo.

CitadelsofScience · 22/07/2019 16:57

I........just........can't go on NMs. I've looked a couple of times but no matter how hard I try, I could never call another woman hun, it's just so wrong.

And I like swearing and the robust discourse we have on here.

And I also like the support, good solid advice from other women when someone is in an abusive relationship. Yes there's empathy but there's no pandering to the needs of men on here. We tend to look after our own.

Camomila · 22/07/2019 16:57

I think netmums can be quite good for pregnancy/new baby/toddler type advice but the range of topics discussed on mumsnet is much broader.

AE18 · 22/07/2019 17:00

I usually use Netmums but have been on Mumsnet since it's been down (said it would be for the night but it's been almost a week 🤔). I have enjoyed that mumsnet seems to be a lot more no nonsense and less precious, but can't get on with the layout at all. My feed is full of sponsored ads and I can't customise what categories I'm interested in without clicking on them individually. Don't know if it's just me being an idiot and not using the app properly, but I think the people are better on mumsnet (including moderators) but the app is better on netmums.

DeRigueurMortis · 22/07/2019 17:18

@ChihuahuaMummy1 winning a thread on MN isn't wining the internet i grant you...and you only have my word for it, but it was a post of brilliance Grin

DeRigueurMortis · 22/07/2019 17:24

DeRigueurMortis · 22/07/2019 17:26

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 22/07/2019 17:30

Oh bless you but it might be a little too close for comfort Grin
I'd be in good company with EmmaRoid though! Grin
