Subway salad - put on weight.

I've been trying to lose a bit of weight recently for my holiday, nothing major, just cutting out treats and trying to be sensible.

Yesterday, with last minute running round with one thing and another - shopping, kids, car, pets vaccinations, pils and DH - I grabbed a salad from subway and that's all I ate.

I've put on a pound this morning! Aibu to think this just isn't fair?

Do you actually know how weightloss works?

Nearlyfriyay987654321 · 21/07/2019 10:38

It probably depends what was on the salad to be honest, lots of mayo /sauce = calories. Excessive meats = high fat / salt content etc.

Cherrysoup · 21/07/2019 10:39

You’re probably starving yourself, which isn’t the way to lose weight. The mantra at SW was always ‘Eat more’.

Readytogogogo · 21/07/2019 10:39

You haven't put on a pound from eating a salad. Your weight fluctuates daily with fluid. Don't weigh yourself daily.

Clevs · 21/07/2019 10:40

I don't think one thing you ate yesterday is going to be the only cause of a pound in weight gain over the entire week.

EskewedBeef · 21/07/2019 10:40

You probably just need to have a nice relaxing poo.

Greenolivesorblackolives · 21/07/2019 10:40

One salad will not make you gain a pound. It maybe worth looking at what you’ve been eating the rest of the time.

Lol no

Also no

When did you last weigh yourself? If you weigh yourself every day then you won't get an accurate picture as your weight fluctuates throughout the day.

Spaceman101 · 21/07/2019 10:41

How often are you weighing yourself? once a week is enough to get a proper indication of steady weight loss.

Invisimamma · 21/07/2019 10:41

I can gain/lose up to 3-4lbs over the course of a day. 1lb gain could just be needing a big poo. Seriously don't stress out about it, it's better to look at food intake / weightloss over the course of a week than based on one day.

Lweji · 21/07/2019 10:42

You think you've put on a pound from eating a single salad? And overnight?

And was that all that you ate all day? Why?

Stop weighing yourself daily.

blackcat86 · 21/07/2019 10:42

How much did you drink yesterday? Its easy to get dehydrated when you're rushing around. You may find that you have some water retention today....or have a poop brewing.

MenopausalMrs · 21/07/2019 10:43

Have a poo... I just lost 2lbs in one minute 💩

Obviouspretzel · 21/07/2019 10:43

Echo what others have said. Don't weigh every day. In fact it's probably best to weigh not very often. A measuring tape would give a better indication.

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/07/2019 10:47

I lost 4lb yesterday with an upset stomach - that’s no more weight loss than your ‘gain’. Don’t worry about it Grin

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 21/07/2019 10:47

Not eating is not a way to lose weight, it teaches the body that food may not be coming any time soon so it slows the burn of fats.

MashedSpud · 21/07/2019 10:52

Read up on weight loss.

Exercise.

Boost your metabolism.

Check the calories in foods you believe to be healthy, you might be surprised.

Reduce carbs.

Drink water.

EssentialHummus · 21/07/2019 10:56

What they^ said. I think you do need to watch the dressings at Subway as some are calorie bombs, but weight fluctuates a lot daily, weekly and monthly. I have been doing 5:2 since last October now, lost plenty of weight, but the graph I have showing my weight loss is a series of zig-zags, rather than non-stop loss. That's fairly normal.

Nearlyfriyay987654321 · 21/07/2019 10:57

@CodenameVillanelle lol

NoSauce · 21/07/2019 10:58

It’s not the salad! Are you due on?

lovelylondonsky · 21/07/2019 10:59

You have to consume roughly 3500 calories to gain a pound.

Weight fluctuates all the time

alittleprivacy · 21/07/2019 10:59

Our weight fluctuates by several pounds throughout the day. It also fluctuates by our menstrual cycle. I gain as much as 3kg a day or two before my period starts, then at about day 3 of my period it just disappears again.

lovelylondonsky · 21/07/2019 10:59

3500 calories over TDEE I mean!
