At 5 she doesn't understand the connotations of twerking, to her it's just dancing.

MauisHouseOnMaui · 02/07/2019 19:00

YABU, she's a child and has no idea what twerking is. It's you who is applying the inappropriate context. My 5yo dances by wiggling his bum because he wants to move and that's how he does it.

AyBeeCee10 · 02/07/2019 19:01

Yanbu, yuck I would be disgusted. Not cute or funny at all.

AyBeeCee10 · 02/07/2019 19:01

At 5 yo she may not understand it but her mother who finds it cute should know better

herculepoirot2 · 02/07/2019 19:01

I don’t like it myself. Who taught her to do it? What has she been watching? Obviously there is nothing sinister about it, but is teaching her a form of movement that is all about objectifying female bodies.

AltasCloud · 02/07/2019 19:03

I don't think there's anything wrong with a child dancing.

It does worry me that children copy and look up to overtly 'sexy' role models, though, like on music videos.

MangoIsSour · 02/07/2019 19:03

she doesnt wiggle her bum, she twerks, really twerks

Tiny two year old 'twerks' they have no idea what they are doing is wrong. We don't watch music channels ect where they could have got it from. It's just how they like to dance.

Stop putting innapropriate context onto a small child's actions.

Your the wierdo.

Mine doesn’t twerk.

coolestmum · 02/07/2019 19:04

YANBU. Its not the sort of thing a 5 year old should be encouraged to be doing. Its not cute, it’s a very sexual move.

MangoIsSour · 02/07/2019 19:06

Your the wierdo. for finding it inappropriate? Confused

OP posts:
marvellousnightforamooncup · 02/07/2019 19:10

I would be thinking they probably need the toilet. DS does all kinds of leg and bum shakey dances when he needs a poo and can't be bothered to go.

Proper twerking, a bit weird for a kid. A bit Minipops (remember that shitshow?)

MangoIsSour · 02/07/2019 19:12

i suspect music videos and her mother is a dancer of some sort

Well, it’s not my thing. Reasonably harmless, though. I wouldn’t get too stressed.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 02/07/2019 19:15

Bit dramatic, a child is just dancing

MauisHouseOnMaui · 02/07/2019 19:16

her mother is a dancer of some sort

Ah. So you dislike your SIL and are looking for shite reasons to justify it...

Cherrysoup · 02/07/2019 19:17

I don't think it's dramatic, it's uncomfortable and inappropriate. What next? Slut drops?

YANBU, I watch my 7 year old niece dancing provocatively and it makes me so sad for her generation. I don’t agree that it’s innocent because she doesn’t know what it means.

What twerking represents is an explicit sexual act. It’s that simple. If you’re cool with a 5 year old re-enacting a blow job, it’s basically the same thing.

MangoIsSour · 02/07/2019 19:19

she is attempting to do the drop twerk but cant quite manage it

its disgusting

You've got a problem with your SIL then..

'Her mother is some kind of dancer..' doesn't sound bitchy at all Hmm

her mother could be my sister, right?
what gives an idea that she is a SIL?

herculepoirot2 · 02/07/2019 19:34

what gives an idea that she is a SIL?

You would probably know whether your own sister was a classically trained ballet dancer or a stripper?

Marilynmansonsthermos · 02/07/2019 19:34

Defo creepy if her mum has taught her.. gross!
