To wear this to a wedding....?

PunkAssMoFo · 01/07/2019 21:50

It is abroad in a hot country. I overheat quite quickly and I need a style that is forgiving to my growing tummy. Plus I don’t really want to spend much more money, as it’s costing quite a lot to attend the wedding.

If I AIBU, could you help point me in the direction of a suitable alternative. TIA

It's a lovely dress! Great for a wedding.

DocusDiplo · 01/07/2019 21:52

Why would it be unreasonable?

CarrieBlu · 01/07/2019 21:52

That’s a lovely dress, where’s it from?

mimibunz · 01/07/2019 21:53

That’s stunning!

BarryBarryTaylor · 01/07/2019 21:53

No that’s lovely!

Bloatedbetty · 01/07/2019 21:54

Lovely dress

Atalune · 01/07/2019 21:54

What’s the material?

If it’s silk, cotton or linen then go for it. If it’s something manmade you will melt.

Happysummer2020 · 01/07/2019 21:55

Gorgeous...perfect for a summer wedding.

PunkAssMoFo · 01/07/2019 21:56

Yay so far! I wasn’t sure if it was too white and/or casual. (Its a booho bargain)

I wouldn't, it's not bridal enough to look like you are trying to upstage, but white really sticks out in wedding photos, especially with it being a longer dress. It would distract from the bride in the group photos.

Spam88 · 01/07/2019 21:58

Sorry I'm going to be one of those...I wouldn't wear a full length white dress 😬

DisputedChair · 01/07/2019 21:59

It’s fine, OP. It doesn’t look remotely conventionally ‘bridal’.

WarmSunBlueSkies · 01/07/2019 22:01

No, sorry, its basically a long white dress. Yeah, ok, it has a pattern on, but you'll stand out.

m00rfarm · 01/07/2019 22:02

It looks nothing like a bride's dress - not remotely! Go for it.

nwqueen · 01/07/2019 22:05

YANBU to wear that style of dress
YABU to be wearing a 100% polyester dress (I looked it up) in a hot country, you'll melt!

Di11y · 01/07/2019 22:06

style it with blue or red to be safe

jomaIone · 01/07/2019 22:06

Wouldn't even cross my mind that that is bridal! It's lovely and I'd wear it for a wedding in a heart beat!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 01/07/2019 22:08

I think it’s fine for a summer wedding. I barely noticed the white background; it’s all about the print.

AltasCloud · 01/07/2019 22:09

It's not a white dress! What idiots. It's floral, and not remotely up-stagey.

TheRLodger · 01/07/2019 22:10

I get why people saying no but I really like the dress and would wear it to a wedding. Have a fab time at the wedding

Paraballa · 01/07/2019 22:10

I wouldn't. It's very white. There must be other dresses in that style that you could get instead.

CalmdownJanet · 01/07/2019 22:11

Christ alive you will not stand out for fuck sake, people have gone bananas!! Brides do not own white, it is bad manners to wear solely white/bridey type dresses NOT long white colourful floral maxis. It's totally fine to wear, the only thing to watch is the material, I have a very similar one I packed for a foreign holiday last week and it looked and felt too heavy even though it was light coloured and floral but it just didn't work in the heat

Doidontimmm · 01/07/2019 22:11

Stunning! I looked it up & they do it in yellow if you are worried re the white (I wouldn’t be!)

LL83 · 01/07/2019 22:14

I wouldn't. White and long.

Lovely style though, something similar in another colour.

Meanmate · 01/07/2019 22:15

It’s beautiful OP. Add some nice earrings and a bit of sparkle and you’re laughing. Gorgeous!
