about men on Tinder? I've been on it for about six months and I'm pretty quick to dismiss most men on there, sometimes on their profile, sometimes when I've spoken to them. Would you also swipe left for the following?

  1. Giving the finger in a photo (too aggressive)
  2. Sticking tongue out in a photo (too childish)
  3. Hardly any text (too lazy)
  4. Saying 'no psycho bitches'' (I may well be a psycho bitch, but I swipe left on this because its so negative about women - we're psycho bitches because men are fucking arseholes to us)
  5. Holding a fish (that has to be some kind of freudian phalus thing?)
  6. Anything smutty in the text (don't disrespect me before you've even met me)
  7. Photos from the angle of being shot up the nose (do men have NO idea how makes them look?)
  8. More photos of their car than of them (they clearly aren't packing much and they're sensitive about it)
  9. When their age is 48 and they're clearly not a day under 63
10. When they tell me they ride (I have a horse, they're clearly trying to impress when they've actually only ridden once, when they were 12 and hated it)

AIBTU? I suspect I'm probably still in love with a man I dated at the beginning of this Tinder lark, and no one is going to come close.... Fucking nuisance!

I'm being tongue in cheek by the way....

So true! For some reason men taking selfies really really cringes me out and instantly put me off.

BoudiccaKate · 29/06/2019 18:22

They're so bad at it. And most of them clearly think they're every woman's dream. No, mate. You're not. You're really, really not.

Guff · 29/06/2019 18:26

Pre OH I also would swipe (left/right?! Whichever is no) if they had a shirtless photo or one posing with any sort of tiger/lion. Or all photos in groups.

sweetpea777 · 29/06/2019 18:30

Yup they would put me off too! I'm so picky.

I'm so picky I won't even go on tinder or the like as I feel like people on there are just looking for anyone. I

Beebeezed · 29/06/2019 18:30

Ohhhhh photos from a trip to Thailand next to a tiger. The worst!

JudgeRindersMinder · 29/06/2019 18:32

I have no experience of OLD, but based on what you’ve said YANBU at all! Standards!!

Merryoldgoat · 29/06/2019 18:34

I’m not single but if I were I think I’d go live in a cave - the Tinder stories I hear are without exception hideous, and with me being fat and not especially attractive it would be unbearable.

YANBU BTW.

BoudiccaKate · 29/06/2019 18:41

Thanks so much all. And yes!! Tigers are a massive no.

You wouldn't realise how desperate I am to have a relationship Grin

LuluBellaBlue · 29/06/2019 18:41

I swipe left for reasons 1-9 too, however for point 10 you may be wrong plus if they’re keen to say they’re keen on horses you can rope them into mucking out and poop scooping the field Grin

LuluBellaBlue · 29/06/2019 18:42

OH and any type of slang / txt spk

BoudiccaKate · 29/06/2019 18:43

Good point LuluBellaBlue but he's on full livery anyway Grin

Gratuitous photo opportunity

Oh yes! Slang /txt! Just laziness and ignorance and I'M NOT 13!!!!

Lllot5 · 29/06/2019 18:45

What is it with the fucking fish?

CaravanHero · 29/06/2019 18:50

Me too. For me, it’s because selfies are usually self indulgent and show vanity...and I hate vanity in a man! I’m completely put off by any kind of personal care routine past the basics...the thought of being with a man who dyed his hair, used fake tan or preened in anyway is yuck. I like a man to be a man 😂

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/06/2019 18:51

Dh always says anglers just like the time away from their wives in his experience.

Beauuuuuuuuutiful horse Boudicca! Hardly any text might not be too bad but the others are indeed reasons to go no further.

LauderSyme · 29/06/2019 18:55

I'm not on Tinder but from I've heard, swiping left without thinking too deeply is what it's for!

I disagree with No. 5: I know a very nice angler who always takes pictures of himself proudly posing with his freshly caught fish. To be fair though, he's my dad and he's taken! Grin

VioletCharlotte · 29/06/2019 18:58

When I briefly dipped my toe into online dating a few years ago, I used to rule men out of I didn't like their name (I just couldn't date a Norman!)

Fishing's a definite no-no. Ditto selfies, or photos where they've clearly cropped their ex out. Also flash cars put me off.

SmileEachDay · 29/06/2019 18:59

Oooh plus:

If they immediately put “xx” at the end of their message.

If their opening line is “hello beautiful/gorgeous/or Envy sexy”

If they put on their profile “I like nights out and nights in”...um...so you just like nights?

If they say “if we end up meeting, I expect regular sex, been in a sexless relationship before and not going back” This was about 3 sentences in to an exchange.

BoudiccaKate · 29/06/2019 19:02

Yes to all of those SmileEachDay.

I hate 'hi gorgeous' openings. I was called 'tasty' yesterday. Oh joy. Not.

  1. Nope.
  2. Nope.
  3. Nope.
  4. Nope.
  5. Hhmmm I'd be wary he expected me to spend all my free time watching him catch fish. Probably no.
  6. Nope.
  7. Ermif profile was great I might let them off.
  8. Nope.
  9. Nope.
10. Depends o rest of profile. They might actually ride!!
Far2go46 · 29/06/2019 19:06

What's wrong with fishing? A lot of men like
fishing more than taking photos of each other.

BoudiccaKate · 29/06/2019 19:10

The fishing thing is fine, it's the thinking a photo (s) of them holding a fish is in anyway alluring to a woman.
