To think waxed chests are now the norm for men.?

I am just wondering if i am out of step here because everywhere i turn whether its in real life or in the media, all i see is men with totally bald smooth presumable waxed chests. Is this now the norm? It must take a lot of maintenance. How far do you go? Do you also also shave and wax your pubes/balls?

Maybe amongst a certain demographic in the media but I don’t think it’s true of the general population.

nicecuppaforme · 29/06/2019 12:33

My 34 year old husband doesn't wax his chest.

Lockheart · 29/06/2019 12:35

Not for any men I know (I'm 30).

DadDadDad · 29/06/2019 12:35

Well as a man in his forties, I can say that the only hair on my body that has been removed is on my neck or higher. I'd be surprised if many men older than me were any different, and I can only imagine it's some men younger than me who are into this.

TheFeet · 29/06/2019 12:37

Eww - I do hope not. It's certainly not the norm among any men I know.

Although maintenance-wise it's probably no more than many seem to consider the basic/norm for women.

ColaFreezePop · 29/06/2019 12:37

Some men do while some men don't.

Crushedvelvetcouch · 29/06/2019 12:37

My DH is 28 with a hairy(ish) chest.

aPengTing · 29/06/2019 12:39

Do you also also shave and wax your pubes/balls?

I think it’s called a ‘back, sack and crack’ wax.

BeanBag7 · 29/06/2019 12:40

I don't think I've ever seen a waxed chest in real life!

KateWrong · 29/06/2019 12:41

My husband doesn’t either. He is mid 30s.

Kaykay06 · 29/06/2019 12:42

My man has a very hairy chest and I love it, it is a bit man rug at the moment but he’s very sexy (IMO) not keen on overly preened men but each to their own I guess

Vulpine · 29/06/2019 12:43

I think it's horrible

User10fuckingmillion · 29/06/2019 12:44

Sounds like effort to me bloody hell

GMtoBe · 29/06/2019 12:44

I've never seen one in real life and I'm pretty sure I've never known anyone that does it. DH is extremely hairy and I'd be gutted if he waxed it all off!

Peitho · 29/06/2019 12:46

For Love Island/Towie type men, absolutely. Most of them have their pubes whipped off too.

I'm fond of a hairy chest and tidy man pubes, but if you've got hairy back feel free to wax it.

OldAndWornOut · 29/06/2019 12:47

I hope it never becomes the norm.
Sad

ColaFreezePop · 29/06/2019 12:48

I known men who have waxed it off. Most have only done it once due the pain of having it done and issues with regrowth. I know more men who have shaved their legs for sport.

BalonzZofloraHernandez · 29/06/2019 13:06

I don't think it's 'the norm', whatever that means. Men aren't one homogenous mass, just like women aren't. (Sorry, shit grammar. Too hot today.)

The Love Island/spornosexual/Instagram thing has had an impact, I guess, for some. But some men are naturally smooth, don't forget. My H doesn't have a hair on his chest and he doesn't wax or shave it.

I quite like the smoothness, personally. I like how it feels. Especially when there's some muscle there too.

The world would be boring if we all liked the same thing, wouldn't it?

BadLad · 29/06/2019 13:10

I've never done it. Sometimes I shave the ones on the back of my shoulders, but that's it.

I'd much rather be rid of nostril hair than chest hair.

Sparklesocks · 29/06/2019 13:10

I think it’s more a media thing, most men I know have hairy chests.

I think it’s similar to a lot of women in the media have that Kim K big bum/thighs/small waist figure you see a lot on ‘insta’ people, it’s not representative of most women.

Dahlietta · 29/06/2019 13:12

Haven't chests in the media always been more bald than in the general population though? I don't think there were a lot of furry men on display in Athena in the 90s, for example.

BalonzZofloraHernandez · 29/06/2019 13:18

@Dahlietta I had one of those posters! The tyres one

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 29/06/2019 13:20

God, I hope not - I find a hairy chest really attractive!

ProteinshakesandAntonsbum · 29/06/2019 13:22

Dp has 2 hairs on his chest. Dispute being 40.

So he has a nice bare chest without the waxing.

He shaves all is pubic hair. He hates it. His pits and leg are hairy.

I know loads of men to shave or wax their chest. I dont think it is the norm though.

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 29/06/2019 13:27

I find hairy chests quite sexy.
