HV just visited, we've just moved, but I haven't registered with GP yet (and she called me by my husband's name)

unusually efficient I'd say ! Normally they are pretty inept even if you do tell them all

Are you sure she was real?

This really isn't adding up and the more posts I read the more I get the feeling that gut feeling this isn't right?

I would telephone the clinic and check this out.

I would ring her and say you are not happy with this and would like to know exactly how she found you. It is your right.

NAB3 · 26/07/2007 16:43

BTW I thought you meant she had called you John instead of Jane.

So there were two of them and they had paper work, what was on the paper work, your childs medical history?

what I.D did they have? either of them offer I.D.?

pointydog · 26/07/2007 16:45

lol @ 'i feel a bit disempowered'

Could it be through dh's work at all? Do they inform council tax people and then mayb eothers?

Katy44 · 26/07/2007 16:47

This is weird
Either the GP found out, or the PCT or hospital or social services. I can't believe it came from anyhere else, child benefit office etc.
If you do find out, please tell us! I have images of HVs hanging round when they see a removal van, or estate agents 'informing' on people who have children

pointydog · 26/07/2007 16:51

were they wearing masks and stripy jumpers?

Haveyou checked the jewellery?

Oblomov · 26/07/2007 16:53

When a child is born, the hospital contacts GP. Then HV is informed. So whn old Gp surgery realised that you were not at old address, it is their responsibility to locate you. Is that correct ?
I never had anything to do with my GP surgery. Becasue of my diabetes I was dealt with at Kings and ds was born at Kings. But within 2 days, Hv phoned. She told me about the above system, saying Kings are responsible for notifying GP.
How HV found new adress..... creeeeeeeeeepy ?

i know it has no relevance but when our hv visited she called before hand, and she called my dd baby (my surname) as i had registered her in my dp's name as we intend to get married!
have no idea did you mention it to your old hv?

princessLUCYKATE · 26/07/2007 16:55

when we moved last year, our old hv had contacted our new one on our behalf with our details.

Katy44 · 26/07/2007 16:56

That's very odd
As you say, it doesn't look like it came through your DH (although maybe it did, whoever decided you were "Mrs DH" then told HER to come and see you without mentioning your DH if you see what I mean?)
Please tell us when you find out!

Very wierd! I would insist on knowing as your data should be protected. Go to the local clinic and check them out.
If a HV turned up on my doorstep unnanounced I would be a bit freaked out too!

callmeovercautious · 26/07/2007 16:57

Also - it's a shame they don't trace the Children that need checking up on so efficiently!

Katy44 · 26/07/2007 16:57

I can't believe the old HV will have done any detective work to find you unless she thought there was an urgency, which there obviously isn't. Same for the utility bills, I wouldn't be able to call up and find out your address, doubt they would be given that info either.

Katy44 · 26/07/2007 16:58

callmeovercautious, exactly!! How many slip through the net?

pointydog · 26/07/2007 16:59

right, pruners. Phone up and ask. Go on

meandmy · 26/07/2007 16:59

did your hv know what area? cause she could have alerted the hv in your new area when my sis moved the hv from her area went to the new hv to let her know!
