HV just visited, we've just moved, but I haven't registered with GP yet (and she called me by my husband's name)

Its very easy to trace someone, where is your post felivered for example.

cece · 26/07/2007 11:04

No idea as ours phoned after we had registered. That is creepy.

totaleclipse · 26/07/2007 11:05

she shouldn,t be able to trace via post or any other source. did you tell your previous hv you were moving, or schools?

I'm surprised at this, I moved in Dec and have not spoken to or met my HV (not really complaining though )

I did get a letter a couple of days ago asking us to attend a 9 - 12 month check, but only addressed to the parents of....

It is a bit creepy but I wouldn't say its a bad thing, sounds like they care and make an effort.

certainly here in northern ireland there is no automatic alert, info is via word of mouth and other related professionals.

if it was me, i would come straight out and ask her how she knew that we were in the area. i'd hate to live with the not knowing!

When we moved, within 24 hrs, new HV was on phone wanting to visit!!

She was nice and said didn't need to come again, but it seems like moving house makes you more likely to be an unfit parent

Katymac · 26/07/2007 11:36

Electoral register?
Council Tax bill (most likely)

bollocks, she didn't just get a note, out of thin air, with no name on it and visit on the back of it!

i would genuinely follow it up and insist that she ellaborate.

Hulababy · 26/07/2007 11:38

We moved house here almost two years ago. DD was 3.5yo so still under the HV as under 5. Registered with GP first week and was told HV would be in touch, as they are supposed to speak/see every child new in area. Still waiting!

You haven't been to A&E with your child, have you? That triggers an auto HV visit in my area.

MadEyeMisdee · 26/07/2007 11:41

school?

As they used DH's name then I suspect they traved him, and the fact that he had a child, rather than you. If he put married, then they would probably have assumed your name was Mrs DH.
