to ask for my Hunter Wellies replaced?

farmer neighbour's dog has been "after" my bitch in season. I don't let out her alone when she's this way. Twice the neighbour's dog has come baying at our door. The first night he ate the leather saddle off our rocking horse at the front door, but last night because it was so late, and wet, I let him in, gave him a bath and dried him, put him back outside. This morning, he had eaten a big chunk of both my wellies which were outside. His owner says he's been known to do that and offered to pay- but is not known to pay and even on Ebay they are expensive wellies, 45~+ ..AIBU for asking for replacements? TYou.

Why did you bring him in and bath him? Why not just take him home? You're both at fault, you for leaving expensive wellies outside, rpfarmer for allowing his dog to roam free. You should go halves.

islanderin · 12/06/2019 18:35

because I felt sorry for the mutt? Do you leave anything outside YOUR front door on a farm?? We all do, there's no need for it to get chewed. @Sonntobe60 I disagree, unless you are in similar circumstances.

Well, you can always asks... whether you’ll get anything is an entirely different question (obviously).

Did you tell the owner after the dog ate the saddle of the rocking horse?

Fatasfooook · 12/06/2019 18:38

You took in someone else’s dog and bathed it? That is so weird

donajimena · 12/06/2019 18:39

You bathed the neighbours dog? Confused

islanderin · 12/06/2019 18:52

yes. he doesn't care, it's a rocking horse.

adaline · 12/06/2019 18:53

Why on earth did you take in the neighbours' dog? I'd find that VERY odd.

It's not like it was a stray - it's home is next door!

Oldraver · 12/06/2019 18:54

Why on earth would you bathe someone elses and presumably a farm dog ?

Maybe get you bitch spayed would be a better answer

letsdolunch321 · 12/06/2019 18:55

Your own dog is in season ..... WHY would you bring the neighbours dog who supposedly is after your dog in your house and bath him ?!?!?!?

Very odd behaviour

IDontDrinkTea · 12/06/2019 18:55

That’s so weird. You took a random dog in and gave it a bath because it was cold. But then you put it back outside so it could get cold again?!

islanderin · 12/06/2019 18:55

home for that dog is like: "I stink, you'll drive-3-miles-and-ill-chase-you-back." this is not the 'burbs'x

islanderin · 12/06/2019 18:57

because at least then he is NOT baying at the moon like a lunatic disturbing my neighbours with a small child AND trying to coax my own dog from running away in a field with him?? needsmust :(

OP posts:
Frownette · 12/06/2019 18:57

Oh god at first I thought you were asking about a replacement from Hunters. Mine blown

They're expensive wellies, neighbour should really pay. Don't expect it though, they might shrug it off

justanswerthephone · 12/06/2019 18:58

You took the neighbours dog inside; bathed it, then put it outside again?

Why?

islanderin · 12/06/2019 18:58

No I bathed it to keep it from mucking up my house, we know the owner. Next door isn't exactly next door in these parts. TYou.

OP posts:
islanderin · 12/06/2019 18:59

thoughts exactly darling. xo

longearedbat · 12/06/2019 18:59

Wellies outside, okay. Rocking horse outside, with a saddle, a bit strange, but okay, you may have a lovely verandah for all I know. But bathing a neighbours dog? No, I'm sorry, that is a strange thing to do. I would have gone outside as shooed it away, especially as you have a bitch in season. Bringing an entire dog, that you don't own, into your house with an in season bitch is simply bonkers. Is this really true?

Alsohuman · 12/06/2019 19:01

Get your bitch spayed. Problem solved.

islanderin · 12/06/2019 19:01

I suppose. Or he get his dogs balls cut off?? Good for the goose, non?

WatcherOfTheNight · 12/06/2019 19:01

I wish my neighbours would bath my dogs

islanderin · 12/06/2019 19:03

I wanted him clean and he felt lonely. Also he was in no danger, and we wanted to sleep. Except then he did stop baying and was content on chewing Wellies!!
