to ask for my Hunter Wellies replaced?

farmer neighbour's dog has been "after" my bitch in season. I don't let out her alone when she's this way. Twice the neighbour's dog has come baying at our door. The first night he ate the leather saddle off our rocking horse at the front door, but last night because it was so late, and wet, I let him in, gave him a bath and dried him, put him back outside. This morning, he had eaten a big chunk of both my wellies which were outside. His owner says he's been known to do that and offered to pay- but is not known to pay and even on Ebay they are expensive wellies, 45~+ ..AIBU for asking for replacements? TYou.

We had a randy male dog show up here at our farm once. All our bitches are sprayed but I guess he wanted to make sure. He piddled on all my roses and then jumped into the back our pick-up, probably wanting a lift home. Anyway I tied a note to his collar that said something like, 'Please have my balls cut off' and then, because he wouldn't leave, I threw a lot of fire crackers (bangers) on the ground and off he went. You couldn't see his heels for dust. He never came back.

Keep in mind we have livestock.

We leave all our boots outside besides lots of other stuff, but this old boy wasn't a chewer, he was a piddler.

Reasonable to ask and expect replacement. Find the same ones and give him the information regarding replacing. How destroyed is the saddle? Still useable? I'd be requesting compensation for both. And not being quite so accommodating next time the dog comes sniffing around- can you phone him to come and collect the love lorn mutt? Or offer to go half on having the bollocks removed?

SinkTerranium · 13/06/2019 06:12

The dog ‘seemed lonely’?! What?

If you took my Farm dog into a house with an entire bitch and then bathed him (his least favourite thing) you would have made him utterly miserable and frustrated. No wonder he then went out and chewed whatever he could find.

He did you a favour anyway. Hunter boots are crap for proper Farm life.

What a strange thread Hmm

YANBU to expect your wellies to be replaced. But as for the rest...

Rhinorescue · 13/06/2019 07:20

potential to go classic Hmm

This thread is an important reminder that things are done differently in the country.

I think it's nice that you bathed the dog! Especially if it's been raining and cold!

Well; bathing would have stripped the dog of its natural protective layers, designed to keep it warm!

It's an outdoor farm dog, not a pretty pooch from the 'burbs' - bathing it was entirely inappropriate.

Have you read your own posts op? You've got some nerve correcting spelling 😂

"This thread is an important reminder that things are done differently in the country."

Which country?

justanswerthephone · 13/06/2019 14:09

'The country' means not the 'burbs Grin

I think it's a special place.

WatcherOfTheNight · 13/06/2019 17:51

Awww Op ,what a kind offer!

If you did bath my dogs ,you'd never see 3 of them again as they hate it but the other would probably want to stay as he's a big tart & absolutely loves any fuss even if it means bath time Grin

GreenTulips · 13/06/2019 18:05

My dog needs a good 12 hours to dry out on a warm day in the sun shine

Sending a bathed dog out into the rain is cruel

I don't understand the hate here!

OP lives on a farm! Dogs in these communities roam and are rarely kept in the house/garden.

Saucy dog should know better than to chew her wellies/rocking horse assuming it is as well trained as all of the dogs I've come across in the countryside.

OP bathed the dog when I'm sure she could have shot the poor thing for trespassing!?

I applaud you OP as well as your hilarious replies.

That said, Hunter wellies are for city girls like me who may need to step into the occasional puddle whilst still looking stylish😂

Get yourself some Dunlop's woman!
