How many pizza slices?

KimchiLaLa · 24/05/2019 20:53

DH finishes a whole dominos medium pizza if we order a takeaway. I have 2-3 slices of one (we usually do buy one get one free). Then we both share the rest for lunch the next day. How many do you have on average?

I can only manage one slice, with a huge salad, then I don't need to eat again for a day or two. I've got a really delicate ladies appetite.

That is in fact a lie. Large thin crust. Eat the lot no bother.

riotlady · 25/05/2019 10:10

My partner and I usually go half and half on a large one. Can’t imagine only eating one slice!

DuffBeer · 25/05/2019 10:11

2 slices! Wow, you're a stronger person than me.

I used to be able to eat a large. I'm not such a greedy pig these days but could easily eat a medium.

As a compromise I usually order a small, with potato wedges and eat the lot.

userabcname · 25/05/2019 10:14

I can and have eaten a whole dominos pizza. If we have sides though I definitely can't.

cccameron · 25/05/2019 10:15

Ah ok so it's just the stodginess of the bread base that makes it hard to eat for some people. Not really the amount

Is there something different about Dominos? I eat pizza from supermarket/ pizza takeaway / Italian restaurants and would always order thin crust. Are Dominos more stodgy than ones from other places? I've never ordered from there

Eliza9919 · 25/05/2019 10:40

@cccameron I think dominoes bases are rank. I never order dominoes, I think the last time I did must have been 20 odd years ago.

I used to love TGI pizza, I don't know if they are national. Now we order from an independent one nearby.

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 25/05/2019 11:04

Our favourite order is at Papa John's. For two adults, one hungry teen, and one pre teen we have two large (14", 10 slices) original crust pizzas, a garlic bread and a side on a deal. I eat two slices plus my share of the side and the garlic base, the kids normally have 3-4 slices each plus the extras, and dh 4-5 slices plus the extras. That means there's usually at least one slice each left over for lunch the next day.

If we didn't have a deal with sides and just had pizza, we'd probably finish both large ones between the four of us.

kateandme · 25/05/2019 11:05

is it that people stop becasue they think they can/should/guilt though or do you actually honestly not want anymore.
if there was no guilt, weight stupidness etc would you eat more?

flowery · 25/05/2019 11:15

I can manage half a medium pizza, which I think is 4 slices, and we usually have wedges as well. If I really stuffed myself to the point of feeling sick I could probably manage another slice. I honestly can’t see how I could manage to eat a whole medium pizza in one sitting.

Dontbeadickkkkk · 25/05/2019 11:23

@kateandme, I’ve never stopped eating out of guilt or thinking I should. I hate feeling uncomfortably full, we were never made to clear our plates as kids and were taught to stop eating when we’d had enough. I stop when I feel full.

This thread wonderfully encapsulates the difference between men and women

Women navel gazing and arguing about how many pizza slices they do or don’t eat!

Grin

Amibeingdaft81 Grin Grin

Can't believe I've wasted some of my morning on it now. Ridiculous

icecreamsundae32 · 25/05/2019 11:41

Depends if there are sides and if I want to save room for a dominoes cookie....
I usually eat 3 slices of the pizza and a slice of garlic pizza bread and a cookie. If no sides I'd prob eat 4 but then be stuffed! Fancy a dominoes this weekend now!!

Beechview · 25/05/2019 11:48

I used to eat a whole large when I was young and slim.
Now I eat about 4 slices as I’m neither!

Bluesheep8 · 25/05/2019 12:03

Usually 1 large slice or 2 smaller.

Elphame · 25/05/2019 12:06

I never buy from Dominos so I don't know how big their slices are but I'd only eat about a 1/3rd of a supermarket 12" pizza

SheSnapsThenSheFarts · 25/05/2019 12:07

Whole medium, can eat a whole one without blinking. I'm a nightmare, I will eat whatever is in front of me until it is all gone.

Bluntness100 · 25/05/2019 12:07

I love the fact that people who eat shot loads can’t get their heads around the fact that some people can only manage two

An adult human stomach even on someone tiny can hold more food than that. Even small kids can eat more than that. That's why it's bloodyridiculous.

It's fine to say I wouldn't. It's a whole different thing to pretend you physically can't. If you physically can't then there clearly is a medical reason which you should say.

ambereeree · 25/05/2019 12:08

Thin base around half a medium. Thick base a quarter its too stodgy.
Of course with a huge salad and then i don't eat for 2 days.

Landfilly · 25/05/2019 12:10

DH 15 can eat a whole one
DD 12 can eat 3/4 slices
DH doesn't like Dominos Shock
I eat 2-3 slices with some salad

We usually order more than we need and heat up leftovers so it's two meals

TessieVanKendre · 25/05/2019 12:16

Well I must be a fat bastard then, because when I order Domino's, I have an 8 slice, thick crust pizza, a huge garlic and herb dip and warm chocolate cookies for after (only eat 2 of these, DP has the other 2) and I eat the lot. This is once in a while though, not a weekly occurance. Was put off Domino's recently though, when my veggie volcano come with a nice side of flyConfused. Haven't ordered from there since. Usually though, any pizzas I can average 6 slices........Blush

C8H10N4O2 · 25/05/2019 12:27

even dominos doesn’t expect you to be able to and it’s in their interest to indicate that a portion is as big as possible!

No its not - its in their interest to minimise the apparent calories and fat per portion. They know perfectly well that most people eat more than one portion and add other menu items as well.

flowery · 25/05/2019 12:33

”its in their interest to minimise the apparent calories and fat per portion”

Exactly. Same as when you buy a yummy chocolate cake and it says 200 calories a serving, then when you read the small print it reckons it’s supposed to serve 12 and you’ve eaten a quarter of it!

100percentplease · 25/05/2019 13:00

This is why I hate ordering pizza with other people because it’s expected you only have 2/3 bits and I’m sitting there eyeing it longingly

MotherOfTheNoise · 25/05/2019 13:29

A whole one. With a few sides. Possibly dessert. Grin We rarely have it though so when we do, I go to town!!
