How many pizza slices?

KimchiLaLa · 24/05/2019 20:53

DH finishes a whole dominos medium pizza if we order a takeaway. I have 2-3 slices of one (we usually do buy one get one free). Then we both share the rest for lunch the next day. How many do you have on average?

Wow, I’m amazed at the level of self control on mumsnet. A medium pizza wouldn’t even touch the sides, I can comfortably finish a large and me and my husband sometimes even order a family size each if we want left overs Blush I’m also a size 8.

I’ve always got the impression from these sort of threads that I’m a rather large eater but I feel this one has shamed me Shock

crispysausagerolls · 25/05/2019 08:44

100% smashing a dominos tonight thanks to this thread

Eliza9919 · 25/05/2019 08:48

All of it. Why are people only eating 2 slices? My 5 year old would eat 2 or 3.

Competitive undereating innit.

Competitive undereating innit

Well we gave a new winner at one slice. So to beat that someone's going to have to come on and say they are stuffed after a couple of bites.

It does make you wonder why some women are so ashamed of their appetites they need to pretend even on an anonymous forum

Unless you're medically ill, or have had some form of stomach restriction every adult can eat more than one slice of pizza. It's just daft to pretend otherwise.

PerpendicularVincent · 25/05/2019 09:02

I'm so pleased the competition has started. One slice my arse Grin

Stravapalava · 25/05/2019 09:09

I'm a 2 slice eater and I'm definitely not pretending. People's appetites are different. I also prefer to eat more in the day and less in the evening, so what you don't hear when I say I eat 2 slices of pizza is that I've had a big porridge for breakfast with seeds etc and a something like a baked sweet potato with houmous and salad for lunch, followed by a big fruit salad / yoghurt etc.

People aren't lying, what would be the point?

MonstranceClock · 25/05/2019 09:09

I usually can only manage to peel a mushroom off one of the slices and that's when I'm on a binge. #wild

DareIAdmit · 25/05/2019 09:19

I can and do eat a whole medium. I usually order a large for myself as I like having left overs for the next day. I have once finished a dominos large stuffed crust in one sitting, was working a very demanding physical job and ate everything in sight a lot. I'm a little bit gutted when I have to share a medium, it's not so bad if there's sides as well but half a pizza or less is more like an appetiser for me. I have had men impressed with the fact I can out-eat them, not the best super power to have but I won't pretend to be full after one slice.

Eliza9919 · 25/05/2019 09:20

I can believe ppl eat 2. Last time we ordered pizza we got a large Papa John's, on whatever base it comes on ordinarily. I think I ate 3 slices and wanted a 4th even though I was full but I knew it would just give me a bellyache, so didn't.

I was pg though and sicky and I don't think the baby liked takeaway. I'd gone right off everything. Even KFC.

Amibeingdaft81 · 25/05/2019 09:21

I love the fact that people who eat shot loads can’t get their heads around the fact that some people can only manage two. Says it all really!

TruffleShuffles · 25/05/2019 09:24

@Amibeingdaft81 what does it say?

redspider1 · 25/05/2019 09:25

Never had a Dominos pizza, but I can eat a whole thin pizza at Ask or Prezzo but I would be stuffed. At home I would have 2/3 slices with salad as a meal.

Amibeingdaft81 · 25/05/2019 09:29

@TruffleShuffles
That they are capable of eating a whole pizza and anyone who says they can’t is telling porkies and / or being competitive.

Rather than just, you know, not able to eat a shed load of food in one sitting.

NCforthis2019 · 25/05/2019 09:36

I’m sorry but I am not ‘competitive eating’ nor am I lying about one slice - that’s about all I can eat - it’s just the way my stomach is built. It’s rude and arrogant to assume someone of lying about ‘just eating’ one slice. I don’t judge you for eating a whole pizza - you shouldn’t judge me for eating 1 slice.

cccameron · 25/05/2019 09:36

The point is though that a medium pizza is not a shed load of food
If you can only manage 1 slice, for what most people is the main meal of the day, then that is not normal, as evidenced by the majority of replies on the thread.

Stravapalava · 25/05/2019 09:38

But it's normal for them

cccameron · 25/05/2019 09:43

Yes but being normal to them makes it abnormal purely by definition as they are not conforming to a norm Grin

cccameron · 25/05/2019 09:44

Out of interest can I ask what a normal dinner looks like for those that can't eat more than one piece of pizza

Dontbeadickkkkk · 25/05/2019 09:45

Absolute bullshit.

Yeah I could physically eat a whole pizza “gun to my head”, but I wouldn’t.

Fuck all to do with competitive under eating. I’d feel sick, bloated and horribly full. I stop eating when I’m not hungry. That can be anywhere from one slice to three slices depending on what else I’ve eaten that day. I don’t give two fucks what anyone thinks about how much I’ve eaten

CrumbsCrumbsEverywhere · 25/05/2019 09:47

If I'm really hungry I can take a whole one plus sides .

Dontbeadickkkkk · 25/05/2019 09:49

@cccameron, a normal dinner would be the same as anyone else but judging by these kind of threads a smaller portion. So a roast dinner would be: 2 slices of beef, 4 roast potatoes, stuffing, veg and a Yorkshire pudding (frozen type size). I’d stop eating when I felt I’d had enough. Rarely have a clear plate.

We also do not make the DC clear their plates. I think it’s a really bad thing to get into, forcing yourself to eat more than you want to prevent wastage. I’ve had to speak to the DCs school and nursery about not forcing them to eat more when they say they’ve had enough. Portions are huge these days.

NCforthis2019 · 25/05/2019 09:49

Dinner for me would be a salad. I have a decent lunch at work (we have a canteen) and I have a decent breakfast (most days!) I find pizza very stodgy.

Amibeingdaft81 · 25/05/2019 09:50

Dominos regard three slices of one of their medium or large pizzas as a portion.

So those expressing disbelief at those of us not able to consume an entire pizza in one sitting - even dominos doesn’t expect you to be able to and it’s in their interest to indicate that a portion is as big as possible!

How many pizza slices?
WorraLiberty · 25/05/2019 09:56

My little skinny 5 year old dd could demolish her way through a whole medium dominoes though no problem

In one sitting?

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 25/05/2019 10:03

The real question is how many slices can you eat GrinGrinGrin
