It's not like you all have not been wondering

OP posts:
ApricotExpat · 08/05/2019 18:46

Preferred Amy Schumer's baby name that she announced today as well - Gene. Somewhat classier!

VeryQuaintIrene · 08/05/2019 18:47

My cat is called Archie, and he's a very regal beast, so I like it.

proudestofmums · 08/05/2019 18:48

P g Wodehouse wrote a book called Indiscretions of Archie. Just observing.

My DS was born a month before P Harry and I was so afraid he’d have the same name as DS (cos it is an old royal name) as people would never believe DS got there first! He isn’t Harry btw!

placemats · 08/05/2019 18:48

Gorgeous baby, gorgeous name. Lovely parents.

Thuglife · 08/05/2019 18:48

“He’s a quiet baby” Lol Grin I said something similar about Dd when she was 2 days old- I even rung the Hv to see if it was normal Hmm She told me to “give it a couple of days”. I did... Dd (9) hasn’t shut up sinceGrin

hazeyjane · 08/05/2019 18:49

Given where you're from I guess you would know a few little harrison shits yourself!

Where am I from?

pinkmoomin · 08/05/2019 18:49

I recently adopted 2 rescue cats called Archie and Harrison. I really didn’t like the names so they are now called George and Bertie.

SamanthaBrique · 08/05/2019 18:49

@Nonnymum he will get a title eventually- he'll be duke of Sussex in about 50-60 years time!

JacquesHammer · 08/05/2019 18:49

proudestofmums

Please tell me you’ve got an Ethelred.

OVienna · 08/05/2019 18:49

My cousin's ex-husband's brother was a terrifying figure called Gene. Walked in on him with rolled up 20s and lines of coke at their wedding - nice one. I was ten at the time.

MintyCedric · 08/05/2019 18:49

Thug

I also PMSL at that comment...'calm', bless her!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 08/05/2019 18:50

I think they know it means Harry's and they give zero fucks, good on them!

TroysMammy · 08/05/2019 18:50

To me Archie is right up there with the Charlies and Alfies that seem to be everywhere.

However it's the name they have given him and I won't be the one shouting "Archie, dinner's ready".

Asta19 · 08/05/2019 18:50

Wow people are being nasty on here,. I am no Meghan fan, far from it, but actually some of the responses on here actually make me want to defend her! Why don’t you all post your kids names and put them up for judgement? What a nasty catty group of women some of you are.

Unfinishedkitchen · 08/05/2019 18:50

I love this. The royal family have shown that names have no class. They are just a string of letters. Archie Harrison is now an upper class name because they have made it so.

You see people on the baby name threads desperate to choose the ‘right’ sounding middle class names in a bid to fit in which is why you have classes with 10 Olivers, Olivias and Freya’s. It’s all so try hard and boring.

All the wannabes who’ve called their kids Tristram or Hugo in a bid to appear upper class must feel a bit silly.

TheLastNigel · 08/05/2019 18:51

Not super keen on it. Feel like they are making a point or protest of some sort against the establishment. Can't be bothered to get too exercised about it though...

Prequelle · 08/05/2019 18:51

Diminutives given as proper names always seem slovenly, like the parents couldn't be bothered to write out the actual name

Does it balls. Christ you people. It's a name in its own right now.

NorthernRunner · 08/05/2019 18:51

Archie isn’t to my taste but I’m so glad they haven’t gone with something “royal” and stuffy. I also think Harrison (Harry’s Son) is actually a very sweet touch, I like the sentiment.

Quite surprised how rude some people are being on here. I know name choices can be divisive but Christ sake no need to get your knickers in a twist.

FannyWork · 08/05/2019 18:52

I hate people giving their kids puns as names. It’s like Kim and Kanye did to poor little North West and they are really not people the royals should be copying.

JudgeRindersMinder · 08/05/2019 18:53

I love the name!

Scotland’s most famous Archie!😂😂

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 18:54

unfinished you never know what will happen with names I gave my ds a name I loved, I worried it was a little unusual and perhaps too American.
10 years later it is super common and some version of it keeps popping up every where! I would never have imagined that happening.

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 18:55

And I live in the USA anyway.

Nearlythere1 · 08/05/2019 18:55

Given your username I would have said dundee!

LegoPiecesEverywhere · 08/05/2019 18:56

Agree with pp poster who said this site is becoming more and more like the comment section of the Dailymail. It is not a minority of posters either. I don’t know how popular Archie is in the U.K. but I am guessing top ten so plenty of mothers here would have a son with that name. I don’t understand the type of person who would slate someone else’s name choice and a new mother so mercilessly. I despair for the U.K. I really do.

Mumsnet (new slogan)
For mother’s to slate other mothers.

JudgeRindersMinder · 08/05/2019 18:57

@Nearlythere1 oi Dundee is Scotand’s sunniest City!😂
