It's not like you all have not been wondering

OP posts:
The80sweregreat · 08/05/2019 18:57

Babies are ' calm' for a few days. Then they tend to ' wake up'.
( it was a long time ago , but I remember this )

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 18:58

I was raised closer to Glasgow 😀

Nearlythere1 · 08/05/2019 18:59

@JudgeRinder I have heard that, but any time i've been i've been unable to verify it :D

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 18:59

the80's I thought this too. The first couple of days a little mew like a kitten. This is okay I thought. Then wham. The lungs kicked into action.

JasperTheFriendlyGhost · 08/05/2019 18:59

I am extremely annoyed. What on earth were they thinking? They definitely should have gone with Balonz.

DotForShort · 08/05/2019 19:00

FWIW, Archie is much more popular in the UK than it is in the US. It doesn't even make the top 500 in the US, whereas it's in the top 20 in the UK.

Some of the comments here are awful. Predictably so, but awful nonetheless.

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 19:01

The worst thing about Dundee is the freezing wind whenever I've been there. I've been too chilled to notice if the sun is shining or not.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 08/05/2019 19:01

It’s a cute name

He is adorable and all look blissfully happy

Highly amusing how common some are finding the name Grin

JudgeRindersMinder · 08/05/2019 19:02

@Nearlythere1 you certainly wouldn’t be able to today 🌧🌧🌧

DGRossetti · 08/05/2019 19:03

The gold in "The Good, The Bad and They Ugly" was buried next to Arch Stanton ....

AllesAusLiebe · 08/05/2019 19:03

Archie isn't a new name. There are plenty of adults named Archie around. In 1900 it was the 117th most popular boy's name in England and Wales.

Okay, sorry I stand corrected! Blush Obviously I knew of Archibald as a name, but didn’t realise that Archie had any history to it.

Not that this matters, however. I don’t believe that the royal family should be restricted to choosing names with a history. I’m just personally not a fan of it.

This thread has been quite the educational experience for me. I’ve never Googled so many expressions! “Chavy”, “sink estate”. Every day is a school day. 😂

IABUQueen · 08/05/2019 19:03

Lego right? Yuck...

And we claim to be supportive of women and their choices.

How many of us bet if Kate was the one to call that name we would’ve loved it.

I doubt there was threads upon threads scrutinising Kate’s choices for her kids names..

I really honestly think its because many PP on here are intimidated that someone like MM gets to have the royal respect and status above theirs, while they don’t mind
someone like Kate to have it..

I’m not black. Im not a royalist. I just find this obsession over Meghan quite eye opening and appalling.

Nearlythere1 · 08/05/2019 19:05

@dreichuplands I remember that too, the damn coastal wind!
@Judge i just checked your local weather, oh dear!! :D

hazeyjane · 08/05/2019 19:06

No. Nick Drake fan and about 400 miles away!

The80sweregreat · 08/05/2019 19:06

The interview was nice as Meghan was allowed to speak a lot and Harry held the baby! I did smile at her bliss and calm comment : I know they have help and nannies and all sorts but the getting up at 3am is hard whatever or whoever you are.
Babies are hard work all their lives. The worry never ends. It changes your whole life.

Mishappening · 08/05/2019 19:06

What's wrong with Archie?

NorthernRunner · 08/05/2019 19:06

IABUQueen couldn’t agree with you more. People enjoy hating and criticising everything she does, it’s like a sport. Poor woman.

To use a phrase mumsnet HQ frequently says, some of the comments on this thread are in no way in keeping with the spirit of the site.

MamaDane · 08/05/2019 19:06

Pretty horrible name in my opinion but wish them all the best of luck with their baby boy.

I'm sure they probably wouldn't like the names we've chosen for our twin boys. It's good people like different things otherwise it would be a dull life wouldn't it.

AllesAusLiebe · 08/05/2019 19:06

dreichuplands I laughed out loud when I heard them say that, too! I remember the illusion of those first few days very well - “he’s so sweet”. “He never cries”.

. . . then the next 6 months happened. 😂

m0therofdragons · 08/05/2019 19:07

Only on mn would I read name comments that the poshest family in the world's dc name isn't posh enough Grin

I'm pretty sure the rule is someone says this is our baby's name then everyone says "congratulations".

floralia · 08/05/2019 19:07

I think it is awful. I thought they might go for something far out that was traditionally royal but hasn't been heard for 200 years like Augustus shortened to Gus or Leopold shortened to Leo like Queen Victoria's uncles. Or even names like Richard etc. I don't think they have done the child any favours though I do realise that there is a small pool of royal names and some are reserved for Kate and William's children.

teachandsleep · 08/05/2019 19:08

Awful common names!

Diminutives given as proper names always seem slovenly, like the parents couldn't be bothered to write out the actual name.

I think your nets need washing, dear Grin

cookingonwine · 08/05/2019 19:09

Bloody awful...
