To think I could happily never eat cheese again

Went shopping today, cheese on the list. DH puts brie in the basket.

It is so overrated, tasteless lardy crap.
I love a ripe camembert, a good Stilton or gorgonzola, feta and Halloumi are heaven. I like most cheeses. But brie doesn't deserve the name. It's such a waste of the title "cheese"

I don't think he likes it either, it's just on his tick list of 'non cheddar cheeses'

Apart from this he's an adventurous eater and likes good food. But fucking brie!

Am I alone?

If anyone knows a good brie let me know. I've tried leaving it at room temperature for a few days hours and it improves it from completely tasteless bla to pretty tasteless bla.

I think if he buys Brie he probably likes Brie....

OldAndWornOut · 05/05/2019 18:30

I'm a big fan of plain old mature cheddar myself.
You can't go wrong with it in a sarnie.

goose1964 · 05/05/2019 18:31

Try Somerset brie, I used to love it but I can't digest cheese since I had my gall bladder removed.

CleopatraComingAtcha · 05/05/2019 18:31

I love a ripe camembert, a good Stilton or gorgonzola, feta and Halloumi are heaven. I like most cheeses.

So why could you happily never eat cheese again?

Finfintytint · 05/05/2019 18:31

Not a Brie but you need Stinking Bishop.

SimonJT · 05/05/2019 18:31

I’ve never eaten cheese and I’ve survived fairly well!

TheQueef · 05/05/2019 18:31

What kind of click bait title is that?
I agree brie is a poor cheese effort but the scandalous title?

StrawberrySquash · 05/05/2019 18:32

Yeah, Brie is underwhelming as cheeses go. Most cheese is great!

LemonRedwood · 05/05/2019 18:33

I like brie, but it is best when it's been left out of the fridge for a while and it's starting to crawl across the counter top. Straight from the fridge and yes, it is a bit lardy and tasteless.

napalmskies · 05/05/2019 18:34

You love cheese but would happily never eat it.

You also despise Brie.

Well ... thanks for the update on that OP. I’m sure everyone who reads your thread genuinely gives a shit.

Finfintytint · 05/05/2019 18:36

Nepal, methinks op was being tongue in cheek.

PinkHeart5914 · 05/05/2019 18:39

I love cheese but Brie isn’t my favourite.

I’m a bit boring currently with my cheese I am loving chunks of extra mature cheddar with red onion chutney

SpamChaudFroid · 05/05/2019 18:42

Brie is a disappointing cheese.

BlueMerchant · 05/05/2019 18:42

It's one step up from plastic 'cheese' slicesGrin

TonTonMacoute · 05/05/2019 18:49

I like St Endellion Brie for Cornwall, you can get it in some supermarkets.

You have to keep it until it's properly ripe, I never eat supermarket cheese until it's reached it best before date, sometimes this takes a couple of weeks.

Tippytappytoes · 05/05/2019 18:55

You all need to try Rollright. It’s a game changer.

TheCrowFromBelow · 05/05/2019 19:00

Good Brie is amazing
underripe supermarket brie is a bit meh but still ok
Blue cheese belongs to Satan

ILoveDaveGrohl · 05/05/2019 19:00

I hate the gross waxy rind on Brie. I don't mind it melted in a panini with bacon and onion relish but I wouldn't ever buy Brie by itself. I do love most cheeses though!

Cornettoninja · 05/05/2019 19:02

I like Brie, it’s a fairly ‘easy’ cheese as far as they go.

Can’t say I get passionate about cheese I don’t like either though Grin

VictoriaBun · 05/05/2019 19:02

The best of French cheese imo is Comte.

CleopatraComingAtcha · 05/05/2019 19:05

I've recently discovered ossau-iraty and can't get enough of it.

I do like brie though.

MrsMigginsLovelyBaps · 05/05/2019 19:14

Anyone who wants to give up cheese needs some serious intervention.

Get your DH to buy some Cambozola blue brie - leave it out of the fridge until it's room temperature, then scoff it all. I promise it's the perfect mix of creamy and blue.

Reddedder · 05/05/2019 19:19

Brie is my favourite

Onescaredmuma · 05/05/2019 19:20

You are unreasonable for making me want cheese at this time on a Sunday with an empty fridge Sad

TheQueef · 05/05/2019 19:26

When I read the title MrsM I keyed in the Samaritans number.
Giving up cheese indeed.
