That is absolutely disgusting. Makes me wretch just thinking of sitting on it.

DownUdderer · 04/05/2019 11:24

Ha!

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 04/05/2019 11:54

I like the idea of a cushioned soft warm seat but the reality makes me slightly nauseated.

RosemarysBush · 04/05/2019 11:56

Haha! I remember when all loos had a furry cover on the lid (70s). Disgusting when you think about it. Ok if you wash it everyday perhaps?

pigsDOfly · 04/05/2019 12:00

Don't know what to say about that really. The mind boggles.

Picklypickles · 04/05/2019 12:00

Wow, I can imagine that becoming really gross quite quickly.

TessieVanKendre · 04/05/2019 12:24

🤦‍♀️

Eponymous · 04/05/2019 13:18

I envy the warmth but even my slovenly self find that revolting.
We have some odd high quality toilet seats that seem to transfer the outside temperature straight to your butt when you sit down.
Fine in the summer but hideous at 5am in the winter. I keep telling dp I just want the cheap plastic ones that approximate indoor temperature but he's so proud of these expensive ones he managed to get for free im not allowed to change then. Ffs.

Spinnaret · 04/05/2019 13:29

Everyone had these in the 1970s. Except us. I can remember being soooo envious of friends who had warm comfy loos to sit on. Now, it horrifies me. Can't believe it is making a comeback!

FudgeBrownie2019 · 04/05/2019 13:31

Dear God imagine the bacteria.

NoParticularPattern · 04/05/2019 13:31

This is it. This is the end of days. We must also be about to see the comeback of the toilet roll cover dolly and blue housecoats.

Brainfogmcfogface · 04/05/2019 13:54

We had these when I was younger, aswekl as one on the kid itself. Oh! also knitted loo roll and brush covers, and a carpet in the bathroom 🥴

Brainfogmcfogface · 04/05/2019 13:55

*aswell

😬

Illy603 · 04/05/2019 13:58

Oh god this makes me uneasy. DP never fails to pee on the toilet seat 😂😂😂

pigsDOfly · 04/05/2019 14:08

Everyone had these in the 1970s.

Goodness, did they? I've never seen anything like that before.

I got married in the 70s, we didn't have them in my house, and I never came across one in anyone else's house either.

Maybe it was a regional thing.

Platform shoes, flared trousers and knitted loo seats; strange time, the 70s.

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 04/05/2019 14:09

My first ever flat had a (slightly ripped) vinyl wood effect cushioned toilet seat.

I was too skint to replace it (having just previously been homeless) so I used it even though it felt a bit yuck but It was really comfy and always strangely warm!

marvellousnightforamooncup · 04/05/2019 14:10

No people didn't have these in the 1970s. They had them over the top of the lid, not on the actual seat.

RagingWhoreBag · 04/05/2019 14:13

My grandma used to lay tissue around the seat before we sat down to keep our little legs from getting cold, bless her.

I remember the towelling lid covers and matching surround for the floor, but not for the seat.

Is it wrong that I want one?! Only for my en suite though, where it won’t get pissed on.

pigsDOfly · 04/05/2019 14:23

I remember the covers on the top of the loo seat, but I didn't have those in my house either as I couldn't see the point of them except to gather dust.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/05/2019 14:32

We had these in the 70’s

And taught to cover the seat with tissues so not to get germs and to keep our legs warm 😁 when using public loos

Spinnaret · 04/05/2019 14:35

Goodness, did they? I've never seen anything like that before.

'Everyone' is stretching if you want to be literal and pedantic about it, but they did where I lived. All naice middle class houses of school friends I visited after school had them.

SpamChaudFroid · 04/05/2019 14:49

They used to come with matching U-shaped piss-mats, the ones that went around the toilet pedestal. To collect any drips that didn't soak up into the toilet seat cushion!

goose1964 · 04/05/2019 16:24

The ones we had in the 70s were for the lid we didn't have them on the actual seat.

MidsomerBurgers · 04/05/2019 16:28

Nope, I grew up in the 70' in a naice middle-class home and we NEVER had these and neither did anyone else. The toilet lid covers however.........

pigsDOfly · 04/05/2019 16:29

Spinnaret. No, I realised the sense in which you were using everyone, but I honestly have never seen them before.

The area I lived in after I got married was very middle class, mostly large detached houses, although sadly ours wasn't large or detached, and I never saw a house with anything like that in the loo.
