Shock
6079SmithW · 04/05/2019 19:23

My nanny used to have one of those dollies with the knitted skirt covering her spare toilet roll (she's passed) ((my nanny not the dolly)). Even she drew the line at toilet seat/lid accessories!
@Mummyoflittledragon loving the themed pics!
@MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain 🤣🤣🤣

Oh there was a rumor going around my school that someone used one of those knotted dollies to kill someone (they had like a knitting needle to put through the toilet roll tubes to keep put them
In place) and they were bad luck Shock

They creeped me out after hearing that

LonelyAmongUs · 04/05/2019 23:19

My DH regularly shits at a 90 degree angle, covering the front of the pan and underside of the seat, so there's no way in hell I would ever risk the benefits of a warm arse with having a seat cover.

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 04/05/2019 23:22

I secretly want a couple of knitted toilet roll covers. The ones with the dolls in. I have only ever told one other person this. I'm learning how to knit and crochet so I can make a couple of really flouncy ones. I think it might be an illness.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 04/05/2019 23:33

How long would it be before a stench of stale piss began permeating from it by way of lazy pissing?

6079SmithW · 05/05/2019 00:55

😱 I need to amend my post! I've found plush animal covers now.
I can't imagine trying to potty train with this cover on your toilet. I think my DC would have been traumatised by the thought that this cute little fella was going to take their backside in his mouth and then eat their output 🤣

🤮🤮🤮

We did have a sort of polystyrene loo seat in the 70s - warm but not in a good way 😬

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 05/05/2019 01:07

My grandparents had a polystyrene one for their (only) outside loo to keep your bum warmGrin

It was a Xmas present and everyone was so excited by it, I got absolutely bollocked because I absent mindedly picked at the polystyrene while sitting on it swinging my legs BlushGrin

Greeborising · 05/05/2019 01:09

Omg this is horrible 🤮

1forAll74 · 05/05/2019 01:30

Years ago, as in the 1970 era, my late ex mother in law had a padded toilet seat, it was a thick, white foam thing. It was quite hideous really, and seemed quite porous, like a foam sponge, She use to say it was much better for her bowel movements,, and I never did quite work that theory out ha ha..

Greeborising · 05/05/2019 01:51

Thank you for that lovely image 1forAll74

Gingerkittykat · 05/05/2019 02:00

I bought a padded vinyl toilet seat for my first house. It split after a few weeks use and all of the padding came out.

I remember some daft bint trying to sell sheepskin toilet seat covers on Dragons Den and they quite rightly laughed her off the stage.

Jammiebammie · 05/05/2019 02:06

Ummm I’ve been looking at these recently Blush
In my defence dd is disabled and has a stoma we have to flush out each night, she sits on the toilet for more than an hour each time and always gets a sore red ring on her bum!
I thought something like this would be better than the sponge ones as I could wash them, the sponge seats seem really unhygienic and can’t be removed easily.
I obviously would only use them with her and wash after each use... oh god now I feel like a sloven - this thread has made me laugh though!

Gingernaut · 05/05/2019 02:13

I've seen the covered seats before, but never actually used a toilet fitted with one.

I grew up with the fluffy toilet seat cover, pedestal and bath mat combo.

These Christmas themed ones can stay where they are. 😱

HennyPennyHorror · 05/05/2019 02:17

It wasn't until I moved to Australia and then visited the UK again after 3 years away, that I realised how COLD UK loo seats are.

They take your breath away! I'd got used to it after 40 years in England...then get to Oz and it's not an issue!

Greeborising · 05/05/2019 02:21

To be fair Jamie you have a point there
If you have to sit on the loo for an hour I would say a padded seat was a necessity

Jammiebammie · 05/05/2019 02:24

Thanks gree it’s surprisingly hard to get something when they’re not toddlers anymore though!

pigsDOfly · 05/05/2019 19:37

Deathraystare Google it. I think you'll find there are.

BlueJava · 05/05/2019 22:14

My gran's house was freezing in the 70s and she made one of these which she knitted! We also tried ones made of polystyrene to stop the chill on our legs.

6079SmithW · 06/05/2019 23:48

@Jammiebammie I hope you find something suitable for your daughter. If it helps, and my experience is anything to go by, you only have to click on a link once and soon your Facebook ads are full of them! 😣
