To find the royal family fascinating?

Don't want to make this a TAAT, so I'll just say I have enjoyed everyone's observations on the royal family and it's made a boring weekend go much quicker

I would love to see DoC dress a little more fabulously. She is so careful about hemlines and baring the flesh. I have seen photos of the Queen and Margaret in their day showing more skin. She needs to celebrate her youth and looks a bit more imo. The Queen, Diana, were style setters I never get that vibe from Katherine. Does she always need to look regal??

I think she looks amazing.

I think Kate does sometimes look very staid. The queen was beautiful but dressed rather frumpily in the 1960s, I recall (I kept a scrapbook as a 60s child) whereas Margaret followed fashion more.

I would too. I think she's just so terrified to put a step wrong. Everything she's done has been by the book and means she's above reproach.

Maybe when she's Queen Consort we'll see more individuality. But that could be a while.

I don't find the royal family in the least bit fascinating, but clearly many people do. So if you're unreasonable, you're one of many!

I'm not sure if with nearly 30 years of hindsight or we're generally a bit more media savvy and whatnot, byt Diana wasn't exactly subtle in her manipulation of her image in the media was she? The 'I'm so alone, woe, woe is me' pose outside the Taj Mahal being the most obvious, but far from the only example of her acting like a cross pouty teenager om instagram and simeone told to look sad about a pothole in their streeet by a local newspaper photographer.

Does DoE still have enough power to keep Fergie at arms length? He rarely appears in public himself these days. No idea of the truth but someone said in an earlier thread that she and A would be a couple again after he dies

I think that it’s as much about the drama that they put the family through with the divorce that they just have to deal with it until the DOE and HM are still around.

Same with Anne. Even the British press have reported about her marriage with Tim being over, but having to keep up that show until the elders are no more.

I always think they rather got away with with their affair and marriage much easier than Charles and camilla.

I’m missing the stories about the older royals that we had on the previous threads. A lot of it was brand new to me so very enjoyable.

Pengrin, start a thread titled "Can you recall memories and stories of the Royal family in days gone by? " Then in the body of the thread ask for stories of royals e.g. Queen Mary, King Edward, The Queen Mother, Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret etc.

Or just ask in here. I think the random stories about Queen Mary mixing in with young royals, Queen mother title, Gary linekar and Gazza has been the beauty of these threads!

I reckon if the DofC showed more skin we’d realise how thin she is.

Plus she’d get slated. I remember There was an occasion when she wore and orangey coloured outfit when she was pregnant and the shortness of it was absolutely caned.

She is indeed very slim, more so recently, could that be because her supposed love rival is super skinny?

She’s probably super slim because she so stressed and upset because her husband has cheated and publicly humiliated her.

And yes Catherine is too thin imo and used to have a gorgeous figure.
