To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd

Just that really. No idea if there's anything more than rumour and speculation, but it's all over social media that Prince William allegedly had an affair with one of Kate's friends, but there is a total media silence on it.
Pretty bizarre considering that Meghan Markle barely has to breathe and the media are covering it.

The only reason Diana wanted to go to America is because she would be adored and her every whim attended to, she decided to stay because she couldn't take William and Harry, my god the media over there would have been worse than here

longwayoff · 26/04/2019 13:01

Stop it Nancy, grinning is one thing but you've made me laugh into a coughing fit.

Sunlov · 26/04/2019 13:06

Fuck's sake but I'm gullible. I believed NancyJoan. Grin

Quintella · 26/04/2019 13:08

Nancy, I think you kindly for the etymology of mega-wonga. I knew it would have a proud literary provenance. Grin

mrscampbellblackagain · 26/04/2019 13:13

Surely if William did have an affair he knew it would come out at some point. I mean I assume that he has his royal protection officers near him most of the time and they have form for writing books once they are retired.

pretending to jump into the Serpentine to rescue a drowining homeless man

I missed that. Off to Google.

As someone said about 10 pages ago, this like a Jilly Cooper. Juicy gossip indeed.

loveonthewall · 26/04/2019 13:23

I'm buying this rumour 100%

mrscampbellblackagain · 26/04/2019 13:23

Grin limitedperiodonly

I reckon Diana would have encouraged her son's indiscretions to keep them super bonded to her.

chaosisaladder · 26/04/2019 13:25

And it was Dave Clark I was referring to when I said American boyfriend. Google it, you’ll probably find the article. Awful business about him letting ol’ Beatrice wait and wait and wait for a marriage proposal, then ending the relationship and proposing to some American Legs a few months after (Grin)

(Sorry, Beatrice. It’s the nature of the beast)

BertrandRussell · 26/04/2019 13:26

“Rose hasn’t been banned from the turnip toff set, she’s far more “in” and popular with that set than Kate is, who no longer lives there.“

Yep. As I said, proper toffs stick together- the middle class own furniture buyers haven’t got a hope. DofC hadn’t got a hope.

MarkleSparkle · 26/04/2019 13:27

I’m too young to know all about Diana’s shenanigans so this thread is eye-opening!

Ali1cedowntherabbithole · 26/04/2019 13:28

The Kate / Rose thing reminds me of the storyline in the crown between her Maj & Jackie K.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 26/04/2019 13:29

@BertrandRussell I bet they had to buy all their ancestral paintings too! Wink

grimupnorthLondon · 26/04/2019 13:30

Grin @limitedperiodonly and @NancyJoan. This thread is getting me through the afternoon

Quintella · 26/04/2019 13:31

If you’re a posh type living somewhere like Norfolk you’re not going to cut your glam and well-connected pal from the set because she’s been caught in the bushes with a prince. Otherwise you’d just be left with the well-connected but less glamorous, more Norfolkian, sorts.

Quintella · 26/04/2019 13:34

taking Dodi's dad's helicopter to visit a psychic.

Grin Grin

WHY did none of my suitors' parents have a helicopter to whisk me hither and thither on very important indeed errands!

happyhillock · 26/04/2019 13:41

@limitedperiodonly Diana was pure gold??
She behaved like an overgrown child,
Why do you miss her? did you know her?

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 26/04/2019 13:46

If it's true then PW has done an awful thing to his wife. He knows well enough how impossible it is to cut out certain people and he's put her in a position where she will have to face this woman for the rest of her life, she can't leave and keep her DC full time and she can never have her say publicly.
Time for a republic imo.

grimupnorthLondon · 26/04/2019 13:47

I think you may be missing some irony @happyhillock

Dahlietta · 26/04/2019 13:48

I get the feeling you've answered your own question here! Grin

One day George, Charlotte and Louis will be able to read. As once William and Harry were. God help them when their school friends will be able to point out stuff like this.

lookingelsewhere · 26/04/2019 13:58

what you’ve missed out of that account is the Queen Mother. When the Queen was taken away from her young family by work Charles was left with the QM who spoiled and cosseted him and catered to his every whim

That's true, as you say. Not sure being sent away aged 8 to an awful school could be made up for by a grandmother you only saw in the holidays though.

Imagine if someone on MN started a thread saying they were sending their kid off to a notoriously tough school and he'd have to stay there even if he cried himself to sleep every night. What if they also said they wouldn't bother with him much in the holidays, but it was okay 'cos he had his granny instead?

I sound like a real Charles fan here - I'm really not Smile

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 26/04/2019 14:00

@mrscampbellblackagain- don't know about the other royal protection officers but Ken Wharfe has certainly done quite well out of his experiences. He was the guest speaker at the ladies lunch at our club. DM said he was v funny & one of the best they'd had.

@Al1cedowntherabbithole- read up on Jackie & her sister Lee Radziwill if you want real rivalry! Lee had Onassis first!
