To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd

Just that really. No idea if there's anything more than rumour and speculation, but it's all over social media that Prince William allegedly had an affair with one of Kate's friends, but there is a total media silence on it.
Pretty bizarre considering that Meghan Markle barely has to breathe and the media are covering it.

To whoever asked who the mom on blind gossip was - Deborah messing from will and grace was implied I believe. Sorry I don't know how to tag.

Iamnotagoddess · 26/04/2019 00:09

@PCohle

Thing is it much be something horrific for them not to put a show of unity on in public though?

SummerPlace · 26/04/2019 00:14

I can’t wait for the Monarchy to implode but until then I want my money’s worth of scandal

It probably sounds horrible to say, but in the 90s the Royal Family fulfilled a very important need for me. All the flash soapies like Dallas, Dynasty and Falcon Crest had bit the dust, and I was so, so sad.

BUT THEN, the Royal Family bravely stepped into the breach. Oh, the fabulous days of Squidgygate, "I don't know how to use a public phone," heart surgery in full makeup, topless toe sucking, "I want to be your tampon" etc. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

This current generation of Royals just don't pull their weight. I had hopes of Meghan, but she's rather bland and just seems to be trying too hard without much payoff because she doesn't really seem to be intrinsically interesting (to me, at least).

fancynancyclancy · 26/04/2019 00:16

Don’t know much about these rumours but the press do what suits them. Loads of the press knew about Tiger Woods indiscretions but he was more valuable to have on side until the golf club incident.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 26/04/2019 00:50

Your post made me laugh Summer those were the days!

lyralalala · 26/04/2019 01:02

Be interesting to see if Rose Cholmondeley is sat next to Prince Harry at the next state banquet or if she’s ‘unable to attend’.

Although given its Trump next if she was in total bad books she’s more likely to be told she must attend!

Sunlov · 26/04/2019 01:05

Has anyone seen the photo from today I think of Harry smiling at Kate almost adoringly?

PCohle · 26/04/2019 01:08

Iamnotagoddess Kate and Harry were at the ANZAC service today positively beaming together. Which, given Prince William is in New Zealand and Meghan is about to go into labour, seems as big a display of unity as they can** possibly manage.

SummerPlace · 26/04/2019 01:37

Kim Jong-il ...the sudden realisation that he could just snap his pudgy fingers and have any number of women, men or pets in North Korea at his sexual disposal because he has a certain cache despite looking like a spud
My mum once described Henry Kissinger as looking like "a hatful of bums" yet it was entirely credible when he said that power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. At one stage, he has so many beautiful/high profile women clamouring for his company.

PenguinFeathers · 26/04/2019 04:38

Seems highly likely there is truth to this - The Royals are notorious for it. Kitty Kelley's book is a wonderfully scandalous read. I think the mistress leaked this - knowing full well MM would get the blame for it. As for the husband - it is apparently considered an honour in these circles for your wife to be the mistress of the King or Prince of Wales.

This is why Camilla's husband was still very much on the social scene throughout the Charles affair - going racing with the queen.

OnlineAlienator · 26/04/2019 04:44

For us young uns, wtf is squidgygate?

Fwiw i think its probable a prince shags whoever he wants! I was surprised to see pics of rose tho and learn she's modelled, she looked dowdy compared to kate but then i have always been in love with admired kate, so....Grin

PhoenixBuchanan · 26/04/2019 04:55

I'm surprised that so many posters think this couldn't possibly be true. The fact that the UK MM have been so silent about it speaks volumes I think. Weeks back, columnists in North America were talking about the fact that the media did start sniffing and KP apparently told them to back off in no uncertain terms- a pretty clear sign that there may be something to it... we obviously won't find out though!

floribunda18 · 26/04/2019 05:06

There isn't media slience, there was gossip about this in The Sun yesterday. I googled Rose Hanbury due to this thread and found it in 30 seconds.

SummerPlace · 26/04/2019 05:09

@OnlineAlienator: Squidgygate en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squidgygate

Diana was honorary Colonel (or something similar) of a regiment which were nicknamed The Squidgies for a while.

The "I don't know how to use a public telephone" was in relation to different telephone usage with another man who Diana was supposed to be stalking.

Fabulous times! At one stage the Queen referred to it as her annus horribilis.

Rosebud1985 · 26/04/2019 05:13

DH reckons Wills has an injunction to stop British press reporting on it, so it’s not a case of the press not knowing about it

amandacarnet · 26/04/2019 05:18

I would not be at all surprised if it is true. The men in the royal family have for decades had affairs and it has been accepted.

PenelopeChipShop · 26/04/2019 05:40

I’m a freelancer who occasionally finds myself in offices of the national press or working with those who regularly do. There are all sorts of stories that are open secrets that don’t get published, either bc of injunctions or a decision to sit on it to keep the celeb on side. I haven’t heard anything specific about this one but it has the signs of being true to me.

longwayoff · 26/04/2019 06:08

Alienator, you are but young as yet; it's not all about looks as Camilla v Diana - and Wallis Simpson - shows. The Royal have provided us with years of hilarity through their, er, frolics and romps. Do Google anything you don't get, it reads like Carry on Reigning.

VoteJadot · 26/04/2019 06:21

I wonder when PW would have time for shagging around. It's not like he can tell his wife he's off to the gym for an hour and just pop off out.

Calledyoulastnightfromglasgow · 26/04/2019 06:39

summerplace your list made me smile and remember those crazy headlines and the queen’s horrible anus 😆

Daisypie · 26/04/2019 06:40

But if you have multiple houses it would be easy to be vaguely traveling between them and not accounting for every minute. 'darling I'm just popping up to London for that charity meeting, I'll be back tomorrow night.'
It is very sad if true.

BertrandRussell · 26/04/2019 06:48

“I wonder when PW would have time for shagging around. It's not like he can tell his wife he's off to the gym for an hour and just pop off out.”

Yes- he leads such a busy life. Hardly a moment to call his own.......

VoteJadot · 26/04/2019 06:58

It's not that he leads a busy life Bertrand, more that he's constantly got people with him and it would be very easy to catch out any lying.

VoteJadot · 26/04/2019 06:59

It's not like Diana et al got away with it for very long, is it? It was common knowledge every time.

OnlineAlienator · 26/04/2019 07:03

'Carry on reigning' lolololllll
