To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd

Just that really. No idea if there's anything more than rumour and speculation, but it's all over social media that Prince William allegedly had an affair with one of Kate's friends, but there is a total media silence on it.
Pretty bizarre considering that Meghan Markle barely has to breathe and the media are covering it.

My point about the hilarity of that article was that if goes to the extremes of describing a 5year old child as camping it up unaware that he should be showing a more macho style of being royal.. it gives a fairly clear sense as to the level of accuracy of reporting...

StrayHairsEverywhere · 25/04/2019 22:14

There have been photos of the horse trials for a few years now @TheSpottedZebra so I don’t think this year’s were anything special.

LaurieMarlow · 25/04/2019 22:15

It makes sense too.

It doesn’t make a single jot of sense.

There is a very good and totally obvious reason why MM was absent from said events.

And I can’t think of a single reason why she’d leak the story. What good would that do her?

InceyWinceyette · 25/04/2019 22:19

Jeez, OP, as you are (rightly) so high minded about freedom of the press and censorship, do you not have any regard for the need for evidence before the press publish seriously damaging material about people ?

Reports of a disagreement or falling out are hugely different to publishing rumours about something which would be grounds for divorce,

The press have deteriorated enough without being encouraged to publish rumours without evidence.

The press also have lawyers. They do publish in the face of legal threats where they know they have the evidence.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 25/04/2019 22:19

It amazes me that so many people on this thread really think that it’s an impossibility that William would have an affair, the pedestal some people put royals on is ridiculous, they are not Demi Gods for goodness sake just humans. If your average Joe Bloggs has affairs and then it is perfectly possible that one of the richest most privileged men in the world, who has people bowing and scrapping 24/7, who has never been told no on his life will possibly have affairs, Joe Bloggs still does it when he could loose his wife, kids home income etc, William’s life would not change one bit, even if he had multiple affairs Kate won’t be going anywhere, no way would she end up like Fergie or Diana, and who’s to say she just turns a blind eye? For all we know it might be something she is prepared to put up with.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 25/04/2019 22:22

@puppy33 - it's a Louis Mountbatten tribute, most likely.

Can't imagine a leak from Rose, not worth the fall out for her or MoC if it rebounded. Although the rumours persist, so one does wonder. I hope not though, such a horrible situation for all involved Sad. Interestingly though, I've heard "Harry loves Kate" theories a few times now though, too.

That juicy (but rather preposterous in places) article missed one key fact about Rose Hanbury/Cholmondeley, too. Both she and her sister Marina have a well known penchant for older men. Would've thought Wills was a bit young for her!

IcedPurple · 25/04/2019 22:22

Nothing would be less surprising than a 'royal' cheating on their spouse. It's pretty much expected. And yes, Kate and Wills do seem happy, but who really knows what goes on behind closed doors? So many 'perfect' couples turn out not to be so perfect in reality.

That said, I don't see that there is much substance to these particular rumours. Seems to be unsubstantiated gossip, and not much more. So while I certainly don't believe the royals deserve any particular deference, I can understand why the press won't touch this story. It's a case of choosing your battles when it comes to the Windsor clan.

Cherrysoup · 25/04/2019 22:28

French aren’t exactly fans though are they Grin

Butterymuffin · 25/04/2019 22:33

It makes sense too. MM leaks the story

No, that doesn't make sense at all. As Laurie said above, what good would it do her? She'd have to be very stupid not to see the trouble that would splash back on her and she already gets lots of grief from her public profile. The Chomondleys, on the other hand, have no public profile. They're that breed of anonymous very rich person who noone's heard of outside their own aristocratic set. I can well believe what the article says in that respect - they don't care who knows what about them, whereas the Royals are still dependent on public goodwill.

Floatyboat · 25/04/2019 22:33

I thought the picture of him with Jacinda Ahern was interesting.

DeftandGlory · 25/04/2019 22:35

Of course he could have had an affair, an emotional one or a physical one.
The point of being Royal is having a duty to the country.Keeping quiet is being professional. If one of them had an affair big enough to challenge their role as future monarchs I’m sure that would be the time to say something. Otherwise it’s not important.
The difference with every other “celeb in the media affair”story is that one of them want “their side” put first so their career doesn’t suffer or they can sell their side to make some money to get something out of it.

In anycase - whether or not the rumours are true nothing will change. Kate will definitely stay put and eventually she'll be Queen. The status is probably worth much more than the alimony at this stage.

myrtleWilson · 25/04/2019 22:46

Totally on board with the idea that it is Kate and Harry who are having an affair - this newspaper headline makes it explicit... Duty Calls = Booty Calls .......amirite??!?!?!

To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd
DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 25/04/2019 22:48

Rose Cholmondeley used to be quite regularly featured in Tatler, she's not that anonymous and unheard of!

Why would MM have leaked this? Again, if it rebounded on her, she's got a lot to lose and the risk is too great when she's already vilified if she so much as blinks.

Maybe a hint from the Times too? Headline with double meaning.

To think the UK media silence on the Prince William rumours is odd
Pannalash · 25/04/2019 22:58

It’s pretty well known in certain circles he’s had a couple of affairs... but I don’t know for definite first hand.

So which is it? Which 'certain circles'. This is how ridiculous rumours are spread, substantiate, don't speculate.

If blind gossip is often right (I agree) does that mean the Bradley Cooper rumours are true ...? Grin
