Ant and Dec on the M&S self service tills...

Wasn’t expecting to hear the voice of a convicted drunk driver when I checked out my shopping the other day. AIBU to feel unhappy about M&S putting Ant &Dec on their self-checkouts? Think I’ll be voting with my feet....by walking over to the staffed checkouts, Grin. Anyone know if this is just for the duration of the current BGT series, (which M&S are sponsoring)?

Count yourself lucky I got the irritating Amanda Holden 😤

Easterbunnynearlyhere · 20/04/2019 21:51

M&S prices should also make them crims.....

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2019 21:53

Celebrity voices on self scan tills sounds genius. Grin

Cherrysoup · 20/04/2019 21:54

I thought the till voice was a bit chirpy, but I was so intent on getting out of the M&S right by school before I was spotted that I just told her to shut up and sighed when she said the bag hadn’t been recognised or some ridiculous thing. Possibly Amanda Holden. Genius idea, actually, thinking about it.

Poundland's tills have a child's voice.

Don't know if it's just for Easter, but it's creepy.

BornInAThunderstorm · 20/04/2019 21:55

still not as annoying as the Elvis tills in Poundland

BornInAThunderstorm · 20/04/2019 21:56

Cross post Gingernaut maybe they’ve replaced Elvis because he’s so annoying?

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2019 21:56

You can mute self service tills if it bothers you.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 20/04/2019 21:57

I like the Elvis in Poundland tills, but he's gone now!

Gingerivy · 20/04/2019 21:58

Poundland's self serve till voice stresses out my autistic ds so much that we cannot use them. Hmm

Gingernaut · 20/04/2019 21:58

I missed Elvis.

When did he happen?

JessieMcJessie · 20/04/2019 21:59

Only if it’s a celebrity that you like Sparkling... I probably wouldn’t have realised it was a celeb if I had got Amanda or Alesha, have prob only heard them speak a handful of times. As you can probably tell I don’t watch BGT. Thank God Cowell hasn’t recorded one!

My dream self checkout sleb would be Sharon Horgan.

Poundland till told me they loved me around Valentine's Day... not exactly an ego booster 😒

JessieMcJessie · 20/04/2019 22:01

I didn’t know they could be muted, might look for that option next time. Problem is that you can still hear everyone else’s though.

Here's the button you need.

Ant and Dec on the M&S self service tills...
CupcakeDrama · 20/04/2019 22:06

Never knew they could be muted! brilliant. my ds also hates the poundland ones

MintChocChipp · 20/04/2019 22:39

Yanbu, they’re annoying.

As an aside I work for Poundland and the self service voices are horrible. The kids Easter one really tops it, I could not stand there and listen to that all day! Lots of people loved elvis though Grin

AvengersAssemble · 20/04/2019 22:59

When Comic Relief was on a couple of weeks ago, Alan Carr was doing all the talking in Sainsbury's! It made me laugh, I love Alan Carr!

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 20/04/2019 23:13

I hate it. I got Amanda in the M&S at Waterloo the other evening. I had no idea this was a thing & didn't realise it was La Holden. It was late, I was tipsy and buying chocolate. I did tell her quite loudly to fuck off though, and I was disappointed that she didn't thank me for my custom.

I feel better about swearing at Amanda Holden than at some random Amanda Blush. And it made the lady at the next check out giggle.

This reminded me of the Easter voice on the Poundland machine, which frankly is fucking irritating.

WatershedMoment · 20/04/2019 23:27

I quite liked them. Makes a break from the checkout monotony.

user1496701154 · 21/04/2019 00:02

I can't stand either of them 😂 they are stuck up and think get away with anything

JessieMcJessie · 21/04/2019 00:16

I am genuinely a bit uncomfortable with having someone who did such a heinous thing as drink driving narrate his way through my wine purchase.

'You can mute self service tills if it bothers you.' I bloody hate self service till voices, I love the mute button. The Tesco one says 'Find your favourites. Or have a browse.' Who the fuck browses through a self service till like it's the toy pages of the Argos catalogue circa 1989? And the Sainsbury's woman says 'Thank you' in the rudest voice. It's a proper 'Now bugger off' tone.

If anyone can tell me where the mute button is on the Lidl till you'd be doing wonders for my blood pressure.
