for not ironing my undies.
I have just been told,by a stranger online, that knickers would not be worn in her house unless ironed and asked for the reason I don't iron mine. Wtf?!!! Shock

I haven't seen my iron in months.

Sculpin · 13/04/2019 17:02

She is the strange one!

Troels · 13/04/2019 17:03

Weird. I guess if you go to her house you have to go commando.
My iron hasn't seen the light of day since last summer.

vampirethriller · 13/04/2019 17:03

I don't own an iron and I don't wear knickers.

Chocolateisfab · 13/04/2019 17:03

Maybe she starches them as a weird form of contraceptive?!

SoHotADragonRetired · 13/04/2019 17:05

What on earth would be the point? Or the need? Is she ironing patterns into them? Does her DP refuse to get hot'n'bothered if she isn't in perfectly pressed knicks?

I literally never iron. On the very rare occasions I wear a pressed shirt to work, DH irons it with his.

Thingsdogetbetter · 13/04/2019 17:06

How in God's name did this conversation come about? Lol. Sounds like someone with a fetish getting their rocks off. Block the nutter.

dartitus · 13/04/2019 17:09

IF YOU IRON YOUR UNDERWEAR YOUVE GOT TOO MUCH TIME ON YOUR HANDS

Happynow001 · 13/04/2019 17:09

It's not still April Fools' Day is it? Can't think (at the moment) of a more colossal waste of time!! 🤣

MooBaaLaLaLa · 13/04/2019 17:10

My auntie still irons her son's pants, he's in his 40's...

KaterinaPetrova · 13/04/2019 17:13

I did a favour for a friend once of a large bag of ironing while she was recuperating from a procedure.
In there were a few pairs of knickers. I figured they were in the bag by accident and didn't iron them (though I did fold them nicely.) Perhaps I was supposed to iron them too? No chance! WHY the hell would you?

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 13/04/2019 17:18

Body heat and a little patience - just as good as ironing.

GlitterPixie · 13/04/2019 17:26

I don’t iron shirts never mind underwear Grin

Bobbiepin · 13/04/2019 17:29

My nana irons her underwear. We tease her (gently) about it.

WorraLiberty · 13/04/2019 17:30

Blimey, what does she wear? Down to the knee bloomers or something?

Katinkka · 13/04/2019 17:31

I've just done my yearly ironing which consists of a few cotton dresses that I've just taken out of storage. I'm hoping this move brings better weather.

WeeDangerousSpike · 13/04/2019 17:32

My granny irons her knickers. But they do have roughly the same amount of fabric as her blouses, so I suppose that might have something to do with it.

Aprillygirl · 13/04/2019 17:34

You are definitely my kind of people lol. The convo came about because I mentioned that I couldn't resist buying an upright steamer (even though I already have an unused handheld one) because it was on special offer, and said that I might gift it to my sister who even irons knickers! I did not expect there to be another person in the world who does this, yet alone one so incredulous that I didn't,hence my coming on here for some reassurance Smile

Many years ago, my mother was told at an ante-natal class that it was okay to skimp a bit on housework when heavily pregnant/a new mother. The example given was not ironing underwear.

Up until that point, I don't think it had ever occurred to her that anyone ironed underwear at all. I certainly don't.

AFistfulofDolores1 · 13/04/2019 17:36

Well, it could be that the person online is a knicker fetishist or you are

Roomba · 13/04/2019 17:38

I thought my mother was the only person on earth who ironed underwear! She even attempts to iron socks too. Plus towels and teatowels, despite me pointing out that it affects absorbency.

Whereas my iron only comes out for special occasions. Not sure where it is right now.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 13/04/2019 17:40

RoombA are we sisters? We seem to share the same mum !
She used to iron babygros as well Confused

SrSteveOskowski · 13/04/2019 17:44

My mother irons underwear. Also pyjamas, towels and even DUSTERS ffs!
I iron nothing. Well, that's a slight lie. I have 2 tops that have to be ironed because no matter how quickly I take them out of the machine etc, they're still a mass of wrinkles.
I normally hand them to Fr Dowling though when he's ironing his work shirts Grin

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 13/04/2019 17:44

And you should tell this paragon of dubious domestic virtue not to get her knickers in a counterproductive twist about other people's undie ironing laxness.

jaseyraex · 13/04/2019 17:46

My nana used to iron everything. Knickers, socks, towels, bed sheets, scarves... I don't iron anything! She'd be horrified if she knew Grin
