for not ironing my undies.
I have just been told,by a stranger online, that knickers would not be worn in her house unless ironed and asked for the reason I don't iron mine. Wtf?!!! Shock

Doesnt it damage the lace? I suppose I dont bother because I dont have a drier so underwear is hung out and dries pretty crease free...
I understand why people iron bedding... I do not personally bother though... it's creased but not that badly because its line dried from wet. Lifes too short.

Hazlenutpie · 13/04/2019 17:50

I don't iron anything. Life is too short for that kind of shit.

AnnieOH1 · 13/04/2019 17:53

I iron everything - and use copious amounts of starch too on bedding, shirts, dresses etc. My nan always used to say it was more hygienic and, as she taught me how to iron, I've just carried on. :)

Aprillygirl · 13/04/2019 17:53

Well, it could be that the person online is a knicker fetishist or you are

No I am definitely not some weird perv. Christ I didn't realise the 'knicker' word was so dubious Hmm

Really Annie? Blimey I wouldn't even know where to get starch from!

I have’t ironed anything in years. The rare item that would need ironing, like a dress shirt DH is wearing to a wedding or funeral just goes to the cleaners.

GregoryPeckingDuck · 13/04/2019 17:58

Surely it’s not good for them?

Twotinydictators · 13/04/2019 18:01

This thread has made me realise I need to invest in a better quality undie! My shiny man made fibres would most likely melt under the iron Grin

PookieDo · 13/04/2019 18:03

I moved house and can’t find my iron but the ironing board came in handy as a dog gate for my Dsis little dog

Ginkythefangedhellpigofdoom · 13/04/2019 18:06

She would keel over and did if she knew me then.

Iv ironed twice in 17 years, both shirts one for a funeral and the other for another big event.

Ironing can fuck off.

NameChangeNugget · 13/04/2019 18:08

She’s the weirdo!

I’d have asked her, how she irons studded leather thongs

TooMinty · 13/04/2019 18:12

I don't iron anything and if I did, knickers would be at the bottom (!) of the list.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 13/04/2019 18:13

My sis irons boxer shorts, pants, tea towels , cloths babygrows anything really. She is a freak of nature. I iron nothing, I would consider ironing a shirt if i was in court for murdering dh but that’s about it.

lotusbell · 13/04/2019 18:14

My exMil used to do this, something to do with the heat getting rid of any lingering bacteria Hmm no idea if she still does it but I remember being quite surprised she would even bother!

jellybeanteaparty · 13/04/2019 18:28

I ironed my undies very thoroughly when I lived in Africa as there is a fly that lays eggs in damp clothes which when warm burrow into your skin!! Never since though!!!

scratchyfluffface · 13/04/2019 18:41

What kind of weirdo irons underwear??? No she is the one being unreasonable

Aprillygirl · 13/04/2019 18:43

I’d have asked her, how she irons studded leather thongs

Lol I so wish I'd thought of that one! Grin

Op you may of been speaking to my mother.
She irons pants socks and towels Confused

Butchyrestingface · 13/04/2019 18:56

I haven't seen my iron in months

I don’t buy clothes that need ironing.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 13/04/2019 18:56

Currently sat in a hotel room about ti go down for dinner and they have a charge sheet for ironing. Underwear/socks are 50p per item/pair. I didn't know it was a thing till just now.

User457990033gYpovd7 · 13/04/2019 19:15

Oh no, I'm a weirdo!

@Twotinydictators
Don't invest in new undies, invest in a really nice steam generator. Don't know if they're all the same but mine doesn't have to have the temperature adjusted so I can glide effortlessly from towels to woolly socks to my shiny man-made knickers.

The80sweregreat · 13/04/2019 19:20

You can buy starch in all supermarkets or pound store / savers type shops.
It's about 1.50 or less and great for tough cotton shirts as it makes them a bit damp so easier to iron. I do have to iron shirts /,t shirts but underwear and towels I just fold.
I'm a weirdo as I don't mind ironing. Rather that than cook!

Aprillygirl · 13/04/2019 19:21

Bluelonerose are you my niece? My sister does all that because she says that she has the iron out so she may as well. Erm no,you do what is absolutely necessary when it comes to ironing, which is not a lot. Why prolong the agony?
