To call NHS 24/111

Sorry, posting for traffic.

DH thinks I should call 111 I am unsure.

Short of breath, fast heart rate, chest feels heavy like I cant quite get a proper breath, I'm dizzy when I stand up and feel quite faint. Also got a slight headache.

Aside from this theres no pain, I'm not cold/clammy and I dont think I'm going to die any time soon at least. I might be able to get a GP appointment tomorrow but more than likely will be towards the end of the week.

Genuinely unsure, would hate to be dramatic & call 111 and waste a whole bunch of time.

That's what 111 is there for, give them a call.

Gindrinker43 · 09/04/2019 20:48

Call them, that is what they are there for.

FadedRed · 09/04/2019 20:49

999, don’t mess about with this.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/04/2019 20:50

Triage Nurse here.
You really need to call 999.

If you won't do that, call 111. Do it now.

LuckyLou7 · 09/04/2019 20:50

You're not wasting anyone's time. Call them, you will be assessed and given appropriate advice. You may need to see an out of hours GP tonight. There's nothing dramatic about asking for advice from professionals when you are feeling unwell.

Spanglybangles · 09/04/2019 20:50

Yes, phone immediately. I work for the service and take many calls from people with similar symptoms and they would be classed as potentially serious/urgent.

Littlechocola · 09/04/2019 20:50

Why don’t you call and let them decide if you are being dramatic?

GirlcalledJack · 09/04/2019 20:51

I would call 999 tbh, but definitely 111 if you don’t want to call 999.

I hope it’s just a virus and you feel better soon. Flowers

CherryBlossom23 · 09/04/2019 20:52

Forget 111 I'd be calling 999 with those symptoms. Hope it's nothing too serious but please call someone.

Collectingcpd · 09/04/2019 20:53

A&E dr here. Please go to a&e. It might be nothing, but there is a long list of more serious things it could be. If you can get some-one to take you or get a cab do, if that really isn’t an option call an ambulance, but depending where you are in the country they might be a while.......and I never tell anyone to go to hospital unless I really think they need to go.

StormcloakNord · 09/04/2019 20:53

Oh wow! I really didn't think it would be that serious but you're all right its probably safer I call than dont. I will phone 111 right now!

bobstersmum · 09/04/2019 20:54

Definitely call for advice but this is exactly how I feel during a panic attack.

Jackshouse · 09/04/2019 20:55

You need to call 999.

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/04/2019 20:57

Good decision.

justasking111 · 09/04/2019 20:57

Do as the GP and nurse on here advise. Good luck.

Collectingcpd · 09/04/2019 20:58

Maybe I wasn’t clear in my previous post- you need to go to A&E NOW. Save yourself a long conversation with 111 and just go.

Nameusernameuser · 09/04/2019 20:59

Good luck OP!

Bambamber · 09/04/2019 20:59

Any chest complaints should be checked out by a medical professional. From experience 111 would normally send you straight to a+e with chest complaints anyway

BoreOfWhabylon · 09/04/2019 21:02

Collectingcpd. I think it's unlikely to be a long conversation.

Better transported than collapse in a car/taxi en route, although if there IS any faffing around then certainly OP should get someone to drive her to A&E, as you say.

Butterflycookie · 09/04/2019 21:03

A&e now

DonPablo · 09/04/2019 21:03

Hope you're OK op

StormcloakNord · 09/04/2019 21:12

Hi guys, starting to feel a fair bit worse and just had a talk on the phone with a really lovely nurse they're going to get me seen within the hour. Husband is ready to drive me wherever I need to go. Thanks to everyone for convincing me to phone I'm glad I did!

OP posts:
BoreOfWhabylon · 09/04/2019 21:14

Get him to take you to A&E

StormcloakNord · 09/04/2019 21:17

I'll probably wait longer to be seen at the A&E here than I will at the OOH doctors! I definitely dont feel right but feel like a fraud causing a fuss as I can string a sentence together and I'm not masses of pain!

OP posts:
Kahlua4me · 09/04/2019 21:17

If you are feeling worse you need to ring 999 now.
Any problems with breathing are not to be messed about with.

Get an ambulance as you could deteriorate really quickly.
