To call NHS 24/111

Sorry, posting for traffic.

DH thinks I should call 111 I am unsure.

Short of breath, fast heart rate, chest feels heavy like I cant quite get a proper breath, I'm dizzy when I stand up and feel quite faint. Also got a slight headache.

Aside from this theres no pain, I'm not cold/clammy and I dont think I'm going to die any time soon at least. I might be able to get a GP appointment tomorrow but more than likely will be towards the end of the week.

Genuinely unsure, would hate to be dramatic & call 111 and waste a whole bunch of time.

I should note this is a teeny tiny hospital! No A&E department, it was the GMeds and the Dr was expecting me so I was seen as soon as I walked in

One hospital is a 6 hour wait, one is less than an hour in and out when they are so called busy.

Def phone 111 . Could be something serious but then could be anxiety attack 🤷‍♀️ won't hurt getting checked out !

MollyHuaCha · 09/04/2019 22:46

Glad you have been seen. Hope you're ok.

Sounds pretty standard for emergency medicine in rural Scotland, which is mostly staffed by on-call GPs, not Emergency specialists.

Where my parents are (sounds more rural than you as there is no dual carriageway for about 2 hrs from them!) all they can basically do is check vitals and make a decision about whether to ship you off to Glasgow, and if they do, whether it’s air ambulance or 4hr uncomfortable ambulance ride. I’m afraid I have little faith in that first line ‘emergency’ medicine for my parents. It’s a 30min drive just to get to that initial hospital.

I had those and symptoms. My oxygen saturation was too low. I had a breathing treatment and was much better. Glad yours was nothing, too.

Your Dh drive you there, you where seen and examined and explanation given and even had time to post on here all within 20 minutes that dosent seem possible, sorry.

justasking111 · 10/04/2019 10:05

I hope that you are feeling better today. Frightening thing to happen to you.

You know which posters have been to rural scotland and needed treatment then those that haven't Grin

We used to have what we called cottage hospitals where you could go out of hours, it is a shame they were closed down.

It amazes me on here how so many folk just do not want to be a nuisance at A & E just who the heck is cluttering it up when so many people are so responsible.
