To be annoyed at unnecessarily loud noises?

Ahh it irritates me so much that things which can be a quiet or normal amount of noise are made extra loud by some people.

When I close a door I actually close it, DP feels the need to just swing it closed with one big push, the same with cupboard doors, the fridge, the toilet seat, too many things to list 🙈

Just now my neighbours are putting their bins out and just opening the lid, throwing the rubbish in and walking off while it slams shut.

I know these things aren't a big deal but they grate on me so much! AIBR (am I bring ridiculous)

I really feel like I’m on the receiving end of too much noise stimulation these days. Noisy colleagues, people on public transfer, noise from the road etc. People seem to always be talking or eating or have headphones on that leak noise.

I wish I could get a bit more peace and quiet!

YANBU I hate this too

Yes! I'm really noise sensitive and DP drives me mental sometimes and seems oblivious. Even just tapping his foot on things when I'm watching TV or fiddling with something. Argh! And I hate people talking overly loudly too.

You would hate it here, I know every time the neighbour uses the toilet, I hear the lid slam down.

They also clump about on the decking in some kind of flip flop things/clogs maybe. The decking is attached to the fence which is attached to our wall so the house kind of vibrates.

It takes everyone at least 16 slams of the car door before they are ready to drive away, 5 houses at least, and there are several people who use the horn instead of moving their lazy arses and getting out to ring a doorbell.

The boys opposite don't have a key so they bash repeatedly on the door which has a Ring doorbell so no need to bang, then slam it shut, surprisingly it is still attached to the house.

I want to move.

YANBU. My new neighbours are door slammers, it's fucking constant and jolts me awake when I'm just about dropping off, and that's with ear plugs. I'm sure they've lifted all the carpets and skimmed all the doors as I never heard a peep from my previous neighbours of 8 years.

The people on the hospital ward where I am at the moment slam cupboard doors and shout across the ward, it’s literally making me ill.

One of our other neighbours children is dropped off from school by mini bus every day at 3.15 (ds2's nap time) and the driver feels the need to beep at least 5 or 6 short blasts when he pulls up outside.

There are 2 teachers on the minibus and the child could easily be walked to his door if necessary. Drives me mad 😤

The staff in Aldi are terrible for this, smashing those plastic pallets about when they're stacking the shelves and making me jump. There's really no need.

We had to leave a cafe recently because of how a member of staff was cleaning the tables- dragging the chairs around so they made a horrible squealing noise that went right through us. How can they not notice the horrible noise they're making?

OP - YANBR. We hear so much about air pollution but noise pollution doesn't seem to be addressed. It can be awful, especially for people who have some MH conditions. Recently I sat in an open coffee shop in the middle of a shopping centre and was very aware of this loud hum which was just the collective noise. It really bothers a family member so that they won't normally go to shopping centres and prefer to only go to a shop in a Sunday.

Could you at least minimise it in your home by fitting buffers on all cupboard and wardrobe doors and buy a 'soft close' toilet seat (while training your DP to be less noisy?) 😁

I hate going into the local Co-op at the weekend. It's like a bloody disco on a Sunday and I suspect the manager doesn't work on a Sunday and has no idea.

People with souped up extra loud car engines and exhausts give me the rage.

YANBU I HATE unnecessary noise, drives me up the wall. I think that's why I hate vacuuming so much, its just so loud.

My DP seems to forget door handles exist when closing a door, so they always get just loudly pushed closed. Drives me crazy.

DH is the same it gives me the rage!! Everything he does is so loud. Even turning over in the night sounds like he is doing so with a broken back. His burp (belch) woke our 1 year old up with a massive jump a few nights ago, he was terrified so it's not just me being silly.

100% with you. My neighbour is a door slammed and our doors are right next to each other. Also, rather than getting keys out of their bags they knock and wait for someone to open which makes me irrationally furious

Yanbu it drives me crazy. It's all my housemate does. I practically creep around and do things gently. Whereas he stomps everywhere, pounds up and downstairs, slams cupboards, throws the metal cookware around whenever he's in the kitchen and locks and unlocks the old, rusty toilet door lock over and over again (right outside my bedroom, on another floor to his) multiple times throughout the day and also night, when he could just push it closed because nobody's going to walk in on him at 3am. [santa] ugh can't stand him lol.

Oh and then on the rare occasion I make my presence in the house known he tells me to shut up. During the day. Doing absolutely normal activities. Prick.

My son gets delivered home like how you have said. They pull up and honk the horn! Except it’s at 3.45 and normally only a couple.

They do it because my son sometimes doesn’t want to leave the bus and the escort on the bus is a women in her 60s. I was afraid he would kick off and she would get hurt and with her age I would hate for him to hurt her (or anyone) on these occasions I said just honk the horn and il come out to get him (he’s severe sen).

They know just do it every day. 95% of the time he’s fine as well. It annoys me too and I wish they would just walk him up to the door!

the sounding of a horn when a vehicle is stationary is prohibited, unless there is danger from a moving vehicle
the sounding of horns from moving vehicles on restricted roads between 11.30 pm and 7.00 am is also prohibited, except when another road user poses a danger
horns should not be used aggressively and should be used only to warn other road users of your presence
To complain about illegal use of motor horns or vehicles with faulty silencers, you should tell the police.

DH. Shouts when sneezes, sounds like a herd of elephants when going up/down stairs, manages to make soft close doors make a noise (wtaf!), chews noisily and that’s just for starters.

People in pubs, restaurants and other public places talk so loudly these days - is it because they are fighting to be heard over the goddamn ubiquitous music you can't get away from?

I spend a lot of time ( about 40 hours a week) in my university library. I sit in the quiet study zone. Which is chock full of groups of inconsiderate shits who have walked right past the group study zone, sat down and just talked about nothing.
I have earphones
I have white noise at full volume
I can still fucking hear them
They think that if they go to the library the work will just magically do itself while they sit round and moan about the size of their student loan. Bastards
I can't wait for the Easter break.
It was a sniffer today. God almighty, I have never heard snorting like it outside of a pig sty.
