To be annoyed at unnecessarily loud noises?

lizzlebizzle33 · 04/04/2019 16:02

Ahh it irritates me so much that things which can be a quiet or normal amount of noise are made extra loud by some people.

When I close a door I actually close it, DP feels the need to just swing it closed with one big push, the same with cupboard doors, the fridge, the toilet seat, too many things to list 🙈

Just now my neighbours are putting their bins out and just opening the lid, throwing the rubbish in and walking off while it slams shut.

I know these things aren't a big deal but they grate on me so much! AIBR (am I bring ridiculous)

We have tiled floors throughout so every door bang, raised voice, dropped item echoes right through the house. DH cannot close a door quietly and talks to the cats at the very top of his voice.

He can't even open the curtains quietly.....no he has to rip them apart with so much force that the hooks snap off or worse, he pulls them right off the rail.
Noisy, heavy handed fucker.

lanbro · 04/04/2019 18:39

I had a customer in my shop yesterday, for 3 hrs, and her voice was so loud and grating I was nearly demented. I was just so sick of hearing it, and the content wasn't even interesting! Apparently she was in for another 3 hrs today, although fortunately I wasn't in, but when she left several other customers sighed with relief!

CapeDaisy5 · 04/04/2019 18:43

I'm with you. My GPs live in a communal block of flats, ground and 1st floor. They are on the ground floor. I spent 17 years living there with them going in and out the main entrance to the flats, it's a heavy door, but there is no need to bang it! All the time we know when the neighbours are coming and going as they push it with such force it slams back against this concrete box thing behind it. Makes a massive bang and sets GPs dog off, it reverbates through communal area. Why!?!?

lizzlebizzle33 · 04/04/2019 20:34

People wheeling their noisy bins out at midnight, so annoying!

Oh and people who stir a brew too much, like a whole minute of non stop gdink gdink

Why are people like this? why are they so unaware???

Rottencooking · 05/04/2019 01:48

I used to live in a flat with such poor soundproofing that I could hear the guy above stir his 15 odd cups of tea so clearly it sounded like a drill or something

Rottencooking · 05/04/2019 01:49

Seriously drove me crazy I couldn't work out wtf it was at first. Imagine what his 4 hour loads in the washing machine sounded like several times a week right above where I was sitting...

managedmis · 05/04/2019 01:51

Same.

Folk screeching etc

Drives me. Nuts

lizzlebizzle33 · 05/04/2019 08:41

I work in a coffee shop and we actually have had a regular customer who no longer comes because another customer annoys her too much 😂

I hate loudness too!

No doubt somebody will be across in a minute to query whether we have autism or mental health issues! Such is the way of MN.

DontdoitDoris · 05/04/2019 08:55

There is a woman at the gym who talks at FULL volume like the shouty vicar in the Vicar of Dibley .
Everyone is having a quiet 30 mins etc and then in she comes talking about herself.
I heard someone in the changing room say "Shut UP " from behind their cubicle door and a few cheers went up !

Weepingwillows12 · 05/04/2019 08:58

What annoys me is when you watch a film and the action noises are ridiculously loud but the speaking is quiet. We have young children so am constantly turning the volume up and down so the kids don't wake thinking we are in the middle of a war zone.

lizzlebizzle33 · 05/04/2019 10:06

@Weepingwillows12 I do this too! It's so annoying, adverts seem to be super loud too.
To make it worse out TV is crap and is too quiet on volume 10 but too loud on 11 🙈😩

Riders / drivers who rev motorcycle engines in built up areas should be shot imo

BloodyDisgrace · 05/04/2019 14:51

I've just read the full thread. To see if we have already crucified someone who eats an apple in the office. Weeeellll shiiiitt. We've been slack today.
No, seriously, life must be difficult for you people. But, sadly, I had to manage some folks who complained about someone closing the stationery cupboard door too loudly ... put it this way, when I had a choice, I gave up working. I think fondly of the old days when we were more tolerant and had a colleague who'd eat fresh onions and fart in the office and we all just beamed and thought 'aww bless, Paul is just being Paul". But it's about work tho, I wonder if one is more alert to nuisance at work than at home.

Justme10 · 05/04/2019 14:56

People watching videos on there phone at full volume and the tv being turned up too loud both give me such irrational rage Angry

PregnantSea · 05/04/2019 16:10

My DH isn't a noisy beggar thank god, but I also find people who are very annoying.

I have known people who yell loudly whilst yawning, to exaggerate the sound. Makes me want to punch them so hard in the mouth to shut them up.

The same people tend to exaggerate their sneezes as well. I used to work with a woman who did this. When I was new I hadn't experienced her bellowing sneezes before so I wasn't prepared, and when she sneezed I jumped so much that my cup of tea spilled over my keyboard. I'm surprised the windows didn't smash. Someone actually complained about it once. And before anyone tells me that some people just sneeze loudly and she couldn't help it - YOU WEREN'T THERE. NO ONE NATURALLY SNEEZES THAT BLOODY LOUDLY.

CabbageHippy · 05/04/2019 16:12

@picklemepopcorn - how do they manage to make emptying a dishwasher sound like the apocalypse?

picklemepopcorn · 05/04/2019 16:15

@BloodyDisgrace I think we've left out the noisy apple eater- but to be fair I think the majority of complaints here are from home. Mine certainly are!

HugoBearsMummy · 05/04/2019 16:17

I HATE certain noises- ie. the TV when DH the deaf git is watching it. He insists on it being on a level whereby I can not concentrate on anything else. The worst is when he watched a football match, many a time I've exclaimed 'turn this SHIT down!!'.
Also the radio at work if they have it on too loud, or in a restaurant when the background music is too loud. At home alone I never have TV or radio on and sometimes even in the car! I know I'm really weird but I just love the sound of silence lol 😂

HugoBearsMummy · 05/04/2019 16:20

@MeredithGrey1 omg yes to the pushing the f#cking doors shut instead of moving the handle up and down. I'm constantly moaning at DH and DS about this!

GregoryPeckingDuck · 05/04/2019 16:20

YANBU. My children constantly make inane noises while playing. No matter how often explain that they can make the noises in their heads they just don’t get it.

WatershedMoment · 05/04/2019 16:23

YANBU. Lazy horn honkers who cant be arsed getting out of their cars and LOUD TALKERS are my 2 pet hates. You pay a lot for a coffee and then have to listen to two shouters talking about their latest hospital appointment three tables away.

windydoggy · 05/04/2019 16:29

Definitely found my people .
So many noises in life that annoy the hell out of me .
My biggest annoyance that springs to mind today is when at work people walk to the canteen with their spoon in their cup but banging the sodding spoon on cup as they walk , and at least 3 people do it ... Bloody why grrr .
Then when you get to the canteen for a relaxing break you always get at least one asshole showing his mates something on YouTube at full fucking volume.
Makes me so angry , sometimes I give up my break because I can't stand the noise and just go back into work early .

megrichardson · 05/04/2019 16:30

I wondered about these loud talkers, do they do it because they are slightly deaf and can't hear themselves or is it about attention seeking? Probably sometimes the former reason and sometimes the latter.
I once had to walk out of a café because another customer was talking so loudly that it was intolerable.
