To fantasise about a robot?

If you could make a carbon copy of the person you’re attracted to (but not with), i.e., a living breathing robot, would you? You could programme them to be loving and kind. They may occasionally malfunction of course. But imagine being able to have sex with the object of your affection. Would you do it?

I think it would be wrong but I don’t think I could resist the temptation.

I opened this thinking it would be about Robert from Justin's House!

Greenlegobox · 03/04/2019 21:08

Robert would probably be super handy around the house too.

GummyGoddess · 03/04/2019 21:08

Can they clean and cook while I'm at work?

sar302 · 03/04/2019 21:14

Is this in case the love spell from your other thread doesn't pan out OP?

Greenlegobox · 03/04/2019 21:17

How could the spell possibly not pan out? It's foolproof.

HeyNannyNanny · 03/04/2019 21:18

From Fantasy to SciFi.

Is it a magic robot?

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:19

Yes it’s an alternative to the spell.

It could be programmed to do ANYTHING.

HeyNannyNanny · 03/04/2019 21:19

OP, if this is genuine - are you okay? Why are you so keen on a partner enslaved to you?
Part of the beauty of love is the free will of it

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:20

Not magic. Just a robot. But a really good one that feels totally real.

gotmychocolateimgood · 03/04/2019 21:20

Jesus Christ, no frigging way. I'm phobic of robots. Future doesn't look good for me.

Sparklesocks · 03/04/2019 21:20

Wasn’t this the plot of a black mirror ep? It didn’t end well Grin

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:20

I’m not having any luck with love. Just thinking of alternatives.

OP posts:
Buster72 · 03/04/2019 21:22

Like the sex robots for men that mumsnet detests

HeyNannyNanny · 03/04/2019 21:24

I’m not having any luck with love. Just thinking of alternatives.

I'd say give Online Dating a go before resorting to magic and sex robots.
Do you have opportunities to meet people IRL?

RaspberryBubblegum · 03/04/2019 21:25

I came on here thinking this was about DETROIT: BECOME HUMAN
A sentient android who would actually love you - yes.
But a piece of machinery following instructions - no.

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:26

Yes I meet people in real life but all the men I meet are married or have serious girlfriends. I don’t fancy online dating. It just isn’t for me.

OP posts:
BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:27

Could the sentient android look, smell, feel and taste like the man I love? If so then I’m more than happy with that.

OP posts:
HeyNannyNanny · 03/04/2019 21:28

You'd rather have a slave than try online dating?

youwouldthink · 03/04/2019 21:28

I go off and leave this place for an hour and come back to this. . . Nah, must have fallen off the treadmill and hit my head. . As you were. .

OdeToDiazepam · 03/04/2019 21:30

I'm with you op, an ai boyfriend that you can turn on and off

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 03/04/2019 21:31

No, I wouldn't do it at all.

A big part of what I love about DP is his personality, his little habits, the tiny parts of him that make him him. He wouldn't be the same without those.

It wouldn't matter how nice the robot was, or how realistic. I wouldn't want anyone or anything to love me because I told it to, and I wouldn't want a "perfect" person. Some of the joy in people is in the imperfections, the trying hard but missing the mark, the little things that are unexpected and make you smile.

Greenlegobox · 03/04/2019 21:32

But, imagine, you could programme out all the bits that drive you mental. The bliss of never again having to hear mansplaining from my DH.

GummyGoddess · 03/04/2019 21:32

Not for sex, for cleaning, cooking and massage I think. Don't care what they look like for that!

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:33

I’m very keen on this man, let’s call him Richard. If I could have a robot/android of Richard I would prefer that to online dating. If only to get him out of my system.

OP posts:
SpamChaudFroid · 03/04/2019 21:35

My perfect partner, imagine how clean and tidy they'd be. Switch him off and pop him in the cellar for a bit, walk my dog when it's raining without complaining...
