To fantasise about a robot?

If you could make a carbon copy of the person you’re attracted to (but not with), i.e., a living breathing robot, would you? You could programme them to be loving and kind. They may occasionally malfunction of course. But imagine being able to have sex with the object of your affection. Would you do it?

I think it would be wrong but I don’t think I could resist the temptation.

Wasn't there an episode of Black Mirror about exact this sort of thing?

Makes me shiver. Ye gads No!

HeyNannyNanny · 03/04/2019 21:40

@BetterToHaveLovedAndLost

In the nicest way, that's really not healthy. It sounds like an obsession/infatuation which can be really damaging to your MH. I've been there myself. Have you considered looking into counselling?
Are there other things going on in your life at the moment? Or are you perhaps frustrated that things AREN'T going on, and this is a way of adding interest?

SpamChaudFroid · 03/04/2019 21:40

I would definitely like a Brendan Urie companion robot come to think of it.

trendingorange · 03/04/2019 21:43

It is a well known fact that all men called Richard are arseholes. I read that on here several years ago and my unscientific monitoring of Richards I come across bares this out to be true Grin

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:46

Richard is a pseudonym. I don’t want to say his real name in case he recognises me!

I think that ship has sailed

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 21:47

I’m craving some excitement but most of all I’m craving a little bit of Richard.

I'm giving this way more thought than necessary.

I would not use the robot for sex because I would feel utterly revolted by someone programming a robot with my image to have sex with. I couldn't do it to someone else.

steff13 · 03/04/2019 21:50

I thought this was going to be about Data from Star Trek TNG. I'm more of a Worf girl, myself. ;)

ginghamstarfish · 03/04/2019 21:53

Would have a housework robot but not for this!

Greenlegobox · 03/04/2019 21:53

Data is seriously lacking in craic though. Who'd fantasize about him?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 03/04/2019 22:25

"I'd say give Online Dating a go before resorting to magic and sex robots"

This made me absolutely howl. Grin

LordNibbler · 03/04/2019 22:29

Just when you think mumsnet can't surprise you.....

Ohyesiam · 03/04/2019 22:34

Have you seen ex machina op? Look it up

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 22:37

I’ll take a look. Thank you.

No i'd find the whole thing grim.

Al2O3 · 03/04/2019 22:39

The problem with a robot is the slippery slope to make it do everything for you, washing, ironing, cleaning, shopping, cooking, paying bills, transporting kids around, gardening, remembering birthdays, saving for Christmas, not forgetting to apply suncream, household budgeting etc, etc. After all that even a robot would be too tired for sex.

FourteenCows · 03/04/2019 22:40

@RaspberryBubblegum

I’d totally date Connor

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 22:41

The robot wouldn’t get tired.

Mumsnet is wild tonight

Greenlegobox · 03/04/2019 22:43

And you can just turn him off when you need a bit of head space. Even if you wore him out you could always get spare parts.

Greenlegobox · 03/04/2019 22:44

Wonder which bits would wear out first.....

Sparklesocks · 03/04/2019 22:46

A robot would merely be a copy. It wouldn’t be that person, it would only mimic them and it’s behaviour would only be based on what it’s computer chip tells it to do. All the spontaneity, individuality and uniqueness that makes a person who they are, wouldn’t be there. And a robot would not be capable of love. It is not a person, it doesn’t have a soul. Even if it managed to imitate love, it wouldn’t be real.

Al2O3 · 03/04/2019 22:47

Wonder which bits would wear out first.....

Better to wear out than just go rusty.

BetterToHaveLovedAndLost · 03/04/2019 22:48

The problem is, how would I have RobotRichard have the same body as Richard when I haven’t seen Richard naked. I’ve seen Richard’s head, neck, part of his chest, full arms, bum crack when bending over and a bit of shin. But I’d want to be sure he’s an exact replica.
