Not knowing shaving arms is a thing?

DH asked me do you shave your arms?

I said no, I don't shave my arms. I looked at him with my whaaa look, he then explained he'd just seen a TV advert (women's razor, she was doing her arms) and wondered how many women feel they have to shave all their limbs.

So I'm thinking if it's on a TV advert, this is a totally usual thing and I'm naive to not know?

can't ask my friends they'd think I was weird

I've only ever known one person who shaved her arms.

hidinginthenightgarden · 03/04/2019 19:14

Only when I was 10 and curious!

Kenworthington · 03/04/2019 19:14

I shave my arms but only since I’ve had full sleeve tattoos on them. Never did beforehand

InternetArgument · 03/04/2019 19:15

Whaaa look 😂

SummerHouse · 03/04/2019 19:15

I don't shave my arms. or my legs or my armpits

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 03/04/2019 19:15

I've shaved my arms since secondary school. I used to have really really hairy arms which was made worse as I have dark hair. I got picked on because of it so I've just shaved them and continued shaving them since.

frazzledasarock · 03/04/2019 19:16

Many years ago when I was at uni, I touched my friends arm to get her attention about something and her arm (nearher wrist), felt bristly.

She told me of course she shaved her arms.

I don’t shave my arms, I barely bother with my legs, I mean where does the madness end?

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 03/04/2019 19:16

No, I've never shaved my arms but then I've got fair body hair so no need to, I only shave my legs up to my knees too

If the hair on my arms/legs was darker/thicker then I imagine I would be tempted to

EmrysAtticus · 03/04/2019 19:16

Nope don't shave arms and don't know of any women who do.

Crustaceans · 03/04/2019 19:16

I shave mine. Very sporadically. The hair is very soft and grows back slowly but I dislike having sightly fluffy arms.

I’ve done it for about 20 years.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 03/04/2019 19:16

If you had very heavy and thick dark hair like mine, you might well consider it.

EdWinchester · 03/04/2019 19:16

I have seen that ad.

The woman in question has sleeve tattoos. Maybe it's a thing for tattooed arms.

HarrySnotter · 03/04/2019 19:16

I saw the advert he's talking about and I was mightly pissed off when I did. A lot of the girls at DC's school are doing this.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 03/04/2019 19:16

I had a friend who used to wax her arms. But wouldn't shaving leave you all stubbly?

LeadMeToTheChocolate · 03/04/2019 19:16

No!!!!! Nor could I be bothered!

AllStar14 · 03/04/2019 19:16

I shave mine. I don't know why, they aren't particularly hairy, it's just become part of my routine.

Sinead100 · 03/04/2019 19:17

I’ve shaved my arms and under arms every other day since I was a teen Confused

Nuyearnume · 03/04/2019 19:17

To be fair I have seen that ad too and was confused but she does have a sleeve of tattoos - so as pp advises she does maybe that’s why she does it too !

TrySinging · 03/04/2019 19:17

I shave mine. I think hairy forearms look really unfeminine.

Crustaceans · 03/04/2019 19:17

My arms are never stubbly.

feesh · 03/04/2019 19:18

Yet another example of toiletries companies trying to find ways to get women to consume more and more. More shaving = higher turnover of blades.

Elllicam · 03/04/2019 19:18

I don’t shave mine. Or my upper legs. They aren’t mega hairy so I don’t see the point.

Sexnotgender · 03/04/2019 19:18

I don't, I'm very fair though. I can understand women with darker hair maybe wanting to.

Bonkerz · 03/04/2019 19:18

Yep. Always done it.

suckmasterburstingfoam · 03/04/2019 19:18

I'm sure it's not a thing. I shave my arms because I started as a teenager and now I have to carry on otherwise everyone will realise I've wasted time shaving my arms for the last 25 years even though it's not a thing and I will feel like a dick.

But you know, adverts try to make stuff that isn't a thing into something to make you buy crap.
