it hasn't moved

its in MY spot (OK I know I don't own the spot but its a quiet road with many parking spaces). Some stranger has chosen to park immediately outside my front door where I like to park to unload shopping and sleeping children.

I feel like reporting it as a stolen vehicle .. how long do I have to wait?

And I can see its ugly range rover roof from my sofa

grrrrrrrrr

YABU it's a public highway. annoying but that's life

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 11:55

Blu · 12/07/2007 12:00

Bozza - yes, you're right. I must get a grip. Fish heads was a terrible idea.

however...if you go to a fishing shop you can buy tins of maggots. they hatch pdq on a warm day - put those in your car, and open the car window directly opposite her open wondow...ta daaaah!

Grin
FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 12:01

Blu, i dont think motobility would be very impressed with my behaviour, let alone my neighbour maggots indeed.....

I have found very discrete ways to irritate her anyway

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 12:09

As a Land Rover owner, can I point out that, had it been an estate car, it would have taken up even more room...

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 12:10

Fio, would you like me to come and reverse over your neighbour's garden (or possibly your neighbour!)

HedTwigg · 12/07/2007 12:11

I know I'm being unreasonable

but I am unable to surpress my ire and feelings of ownership of the small stretch outside my house

I just can't do it .. its mine I tell you, all mine, all mine

Blu .. maggot .. euewww

I think there's a huge difference between parking just for a little while or whilst at work and parking there for 3 days.

southeastastra · 12/07/2007 12:37

i just pretended to go out so i could get my car space back (what's happening to me!)

OrmIrian · 12/07/2007 12:41

twig - I have oodles of sympathy. parking in my street is one of the things that make me mad as hell! In fact I'm getting cross in sympathy. Not being able to park in my own street because some people choose to park 3 cars in it really upsets me. But I've learnt that on MN it's seen as no big deal .

dal21 · 12/07/2007 13:07

OrmIrian - personally speaking its not that i dont find things like this a big deal, but what is the point getting annoyed about it? At my previous flat in London (I use my car every day) - I would often have to cycle the block / go further afield before I found a spot for my car. The majority of cars on my road were only used on weekends so would sit there not being used for days on end! Also - people who lived further down the street would drive to our end in the mornings and park all day as we were near the tube and the parking zone was the same. But what was the point in getting upset about it? I have no rights over where to park on the street; so my motto was just to deal with the situation because what could i do to change the situation????

OrmIrian · 12/07/2007 13:10

You are quite right dal. I need to let it wash over me. But somehow I just can't. Which is odd as most other things don't get me wound up.

meandmyflyingmachine · 12/07/2007 13:13

Might it belong to a neighbour? Or someone from around the corner? We used to have to park in a neighbouring street - one parking space, two cars, couldn't park outside our house - and although we tried to vary the position and park outside a house which had off road parking I don't doubt we upset people.

dal21 · 12/07/2007 13:14

we all have our achilles heel! deep breaths!

Shoshable · 12/07/2007 13:45

We had one opposite us, now ther is never enough parking outside our houses, but if you park properly you can all get your cars in, NOT this guy, he insisted on parking right outside his front door, so that tou couldnt park a car above or below his!!! When I asked him, why, (this is a healthy 30year old soldier)his reply was why shouldnt I have to walk, !!! His house is opposite but about 2foot lower down the street than mine, it often means I have to park at the top or bottom of the street, Ok its not a very big street, but as a CM often have 6 kids to get in the car!

OrmIrian · 12/07/2007 14:13

Ha! Shoshable that's one of my bugbears too. I sat in my car yesterday afternoon(after I'd parked it perfectly of course ) for about 5 mins and watched some old man park his ordinary sized car almost in the middle of a space that would have fitted 3 cars quite comfortably, in such a way that there would only have been space for one more. I think he was wondering why I was staring at him....then I remember that I had a life and I'd better get on with it

But why can so few people park properly? I mean it really isn't that hard surely?

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 14:37

it is a nuisance if you have to walk for quite a way with your weekly shop though

all other times I dont mind so much....

jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 14:43

hedtwigg - why not just get a driveway put in? maybe the car belonmgs to a neighbour ? you are being unreasonable as you dont own the road

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 14:45

PMSL at "why not just get a driveway put in" - now why didn't YOU think of that, Twig?! I'm sure you've got a spare acre or two at the front you can spare...

PeachesMcLean · 12/07/2007 14:49

Lupin. that's exactly what I was thinking....

I live in a terraced house FGS.

Oh, I know, I'll buy next door, knock it down and park the car there!

jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 14:50

whats so funny about the driveway? mine is about 30' long and we can get 4 cars on it which eases congestion on gteh road and allows our meaner neighbours to carry on parking on the road

some people on our road actually complain and sticker cars who park there and walk into town and im shocked by it every time - they are entitled to park there

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 14:50

Or just get a chauffeur

Shoshable · 12/07/2007 15:45

OrmIrian it disnt help that I am crap at parking and if it is going to be a tight squeeze, i cant do it It is a Zafira tho

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 15:46

i live in a terraced aswell, do you suggest i oput a driveway where the lounge is now located?
