it hasn't moved

its in MY spot (OK I know I don't own the spot but its a quiet road with many parking spaces). Some stranger has chosen to park immediately outside my front door where I like to park to unload shopping and sleeping children.

I feel like reporting it as a stolen vehicle .. how long do I have to wait?

And I can see its ugly range rover roof from my sofa

grrrrrrrrr

well, you don't really need that lounge do you Fio... I can't believe you don't have a 30 foot driveway

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 12/07/2007 16:27

In case you hadn't noticed Twig's post, the car's tax disc has actually run out.

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 16:29

I suppose the children could sit in the car to watch cbeebies...

Staceym11 · 12/07/2007 16:54

evenhope if your driveway has a drop kerb you can report them for parking across your drive as it is illegal! if its not a drop kerb then sorry you're being illegal by crossing the pavement with your car.

Once while visiting my mums we parked across her next door neighbors driveway (who had not yet had a drop kerb installed although there were the markings on the kerb for them to come and do) she cae out as we were leaving having a huge go at us as it is inconsiderate...........oh about as inconsiderate as when she moaned at my brother for starting his motorbike outside his house rather than doing it down the road (wtf?!?!) as her daughter (14 at the time) was trying to sleep.......what? at 11am on a sunday morning?!?! pss* off......anyway i told her that she was not legally allowed the cross the kerb before se had the drop kerb installed, she huffed and then continued to put her car on the drive after we had pulled away.

oh anyway good for reporting a vehicle with no tax, although you are slightly unreasonable as you dont own the road....know its hard when your juggling bags/babies/kids etc!

OrmIrian · 12/07/2007 17:17

A driveway!! I dream of a driveway

OrmIrian · 12/07/2007 17:20

Actually I think rather than sacrificing the lounge, it might be preferable to knock the neighbours houses down. Clear the whole street like an 18th century landowner improving his view. Then perhaps provide a hermitage for them all to squat in - just in sight of the front windows. And some red deer.

jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 17:25

yes a driveway instead of lounge would be better

seriously we dont know if twigg has the potential for a drive but if its there it makes sense to use it.

obviously fio i know your parking is crap because you've told me that is different. houses with drives arent that unusual surely

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 18:31

my parking isnt crap

HedTwigg · 12/07/2007 18:33

hah .. the car moved .. don't know if it was moved or owner finally returned

and at a driveway ... what? in the 3 foot between my door and the pavement .. its a London Victorian house .. they're built very close to the roads

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 18:35

Buy a Smart car Twig.. or a moped

OrmIrian · 12/07/2007 18:38

Or a Sherman tank. Make your own parking space.

PeachesMcLean · 12/07/2007 18:38

My parking's quite good However, whilst I find it unreasonable to get wound up about parking outside your house, I get ABSOLUTELY EFFING TAMPING by the woman up the street who gets ino the Smallest Spaces with her tiny car and her fancy power steering, thereby effectively blocking me in. Grrrrr......

jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 19:41

hedtwig - i didnt realise you opened the door onto the pavement - twasnt obvious from your post.

my neighbour used to complain bitterly about not being able to park outside his house so he got a drive put in.. seems logical if you have the room

HedTwigg · 12/07/2007 19:43

I do h'not h'open the door onto the pavement

the very idea

I have at least 5 feet between front door and pavement .. I have a veritable path

ROFL

OP posts:
jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 19:45

ah 5' makes all the difference ... or is that 5"??

HedTwigg · 12/07/2007 19:45

I have about the same distance as these houses

OP posts:
anniebear · 12/07/2007 19:53

wow, what a house that is!!!!!

HedTwigg · 12/07/2007 19:58

s'rather nice isn't it?

however for 2.6 million would you not want a bigger garden than that

OP posts:
sazzybee · 12/07/2007 20:02

I have frightened my neighbours into leaving the space outside my house empty as I am such a stroppy cow. You need to be a bit nastier clearly

jamDOHnut · 12/07/2007 20:03

nice houses twigg - is yours like that?

aloha · 12/07/2007 20:04

You'd want a drive, wouldn't you Hedtwigg?

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 20:06

who needs a drive when you live ina house like that, eh twig?
