it hasn't moved

its in MY spot (OK I know I don't own the spot but its a quiet road with many parking spaces). Some stranger has chosen to park immediately outside my front door where I like to park to unload shopping and sleeping children.

I feel like reporting it as a stolen vehicle .. how long do I have to wait?

And I can see its ugly range rover roof from my sofa

grrrrrrrrr

at the threat to twig's bohemian reputation.

Blu · 12/07/2007 11:17

In our borough the council send out people from the parking and roadways and abandoned vehicles dept and get them clamped and themn towed away. The owner will at the v least get a ticket for being untaxed, so that should satiate your vengeance a little.

PeachesMcLean · 12/07/2007 11:18

If it's untaxed you can do it online through the DVLA.

dobbysayswoof · 12/07/2007 11:20

Yep, report it as untaxed.
I think it is a teeny bit unreasonable tbh but this kind of thing infuriates me too - esp the bad parking, using up 2 spaces etc. Tis just thoughtless.

Blu · 12/07/2007 11:21

But they probably don't park outside their own sodding house because someone else is parked ther. that's the way it is in crowded urban areas.

Do you want to move to Surrey and have a driveway? or live in a provincial cul-de-sac with no trendy shops nearby that attract extra parking? do you???

Blu · 12/07/2007 11:22

What do the dvla do if they get a report? Will they clamp or tow it?

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 11:22

no i wont tell youa long story, shes a nasty pretentious stuck up bitch who has suggested i move back up north because she doesnt like outsiders, moaned about my kids, made up stories about me to other neighbours, blocked my application to get a disabled bay put outside my house

blah blah blah

as far as I am concerened me blocking her light is sweet revenge and I drive a very economical car........

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 11:23

they wont clamp it if it is under 14 days overdue....

dobbysayswoof · 12/07/2007 11:24

Chap in our street drives a taxi, which he shares with another driver. The other guy does the night shift. EVERY NIGHT I get home from work to find taxi-sharer has parked his car right outside my front door and gone off in the taxi to do his shift.

He then comes back around 1am, parks the taxi, mucho door slamming, and drives off.

I know I am being unreasonable but I get very exercised by this.

PeachesMcLean · 12/07/2007 11:24

I suspect they issue a fine, the bloke across the road from us sold his car soon after.

Blu · 12/07/2007 11:24

Oh yes, Fio's mad neighbour has enjoyed longstanding infamy on MN. Didn't she make some complaint about the wall between your houses and accuse you of causing her house to collapse or something?

Fill your car with crates of rotting fish heads and park it right outside her window on a boiling hot day.

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 11:26

yeh shes has many many problems with the party wall....nothing significant enough to invlove solicitors or, whats that thing? oh yes...house insurance gggrgrrr

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 12/07/2007 11:26

That will only make Fio's car stink, Blu.

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 11:27

NeverTickleASleepingSoupDragon · 12/07/2007 11:27

Report untaxed vehicle online

HedTwigg · 12/07/2007 11:27

I take it back Fio .. sounds like a worthwhile revenge

I've been a total bitch and reported it .. I had to lug 8 bags of heavy shopping and 2 sleeping children in from round the corner in the last 2 days so am harrumphing

.. there's no 14 day leeway anymore on tax

Blu .. my road is unusual for London .. lots of parking

Blu · 12/07/2007 11:28

well, yes, but it will be worth it in the 'irritate your neighbour' stakes. You have to make some sacrifices!

aloha · 12/07/2007 11:29

Fio is this the neighbour who complained about your dd with SN pushing a little toy pushchair into your own house? Bugger parking the car outside her house, park it on her silly head.

Blu · 12/07/2007 11:29

Oh, reporting it for being untaxed was the right thing to do.

And thinks for the tip...i'll head for your road next time I am shopping at the good butchers

evenhope · 12/07/2007 11:32

My neighbours endless visitors regularly block my driveway. One last week took the biscuit though, arriving to park completely across my driveway as I was reversing out. Tis not a huge drive- only a foot or so longer than my car- so no excuse except ignorance.

Yes an abandoned car with out of date tax- I'd report it.

FioFioJane · 12/07/2007 11:32

yes its the same one aloha

bozza · 12/07/2007 11:33

blu I think the rotten fish is a bit below your usual excellent standard of advice.

kslatts · 12/07/2007 11:46

You did the right thing for reporting it as it has no road tax, BUT if the vehicle had been taxed then YABU. I drop my dd's off at cm's in the morning and then park outside someone's house near the station to get the train to work, which probably annoys the people who live close to the station, BUT it saves me a 45 minute walk, I pay my road tax so am entitled to park there.

Just because you own a house doesn't mean you own the road outside.

speedymama · 12/07/2007 11:52

FioFio, is it your Brummie accent that your neighbour despises?

MissGrissindor · 12/07/2007 11:53

That sounds like excellent revenge Fio .
