Here we are in February 2019 - Trump has declared a National Emergency to funnel the funds for his border wall, he’s just come off a ridiculous SOTU that contained more lies than not, and he’s just tweeted this:

“These guys, the investigators, ought to be in jail. What they have done, working with the Obama intelligence agencies, is simply unprecedented. This is one of the greatest political hoaxes ever perpetrated on the people of this Country, and Mueller is a coverup.” Rush Limbaugh

But here’s a reminder he’s not one of the sharpest tools in the box.

Some interesting attempts on social media to decipher the itemised list of FBI material taken from Cohen. Smile

I don't think we've had a link to this source before:

Interesting to think about the effect of bad poll questions on the base.

The answer was there all this time. We just didn't see it.

Further to my posts yesterday about Facebook/Twitter censorship, and Donald Trump Jr. getting all pissy about Trump’s Communications Director copping a Facebook suspension for spam - abuse of power! - as I predicted, dear old Dad has taken the bait and run with it.

And on he goes! Trump retweets Jr.’s op-ed on the subject, “Why oh why do these companies delete our hate-speech? It’s so unfair!”

Remember though that Jr. is planning his own Presidential tilt, and this could be one of his juicier platforms.

Why does he honestly not see that treating people like this well and the US’ allies badly is deeply odd?

WH Obstruction

'In November, the American people voted overwhelmingly to put Democrats in charge of the House of Representatives to start serving as a truly independent check and balance on the executive branch. Since then, President Trump and his allies have complained of “Presidential Harassment,” decrying Democrats for having the audacity to request documents and witnesses to fulfill our constitutional responsibilities.

The problem is that the White House is engaged in an unprecedented level of stonewalling, delay and obstruction.'

This morning the little princeling was favouring us with his views on the UK.

Or rather, with his annoyance that the UK isn't his daddy's bitch (yet).

Brexit deadlock shows 'democracy all but dead' - Donald Trump Jr
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47634365

Mr Trump Jr, who is the US president's son but holds no political position, wrote a column in the Daily Telegraph. In it, he criticises PM Theresa May for having "ignored advice from my father".

The US businessman's intervention in UK politics comes with nine days to go until the UK's scheduled departure from the EU.

In an interview with Sky News, US National Security Adviser John Bolton said US President Donald Trump wanted a resolution that allowed the US and Britain "to come to trade deals again".

He added: "He sees huge opportunity if Britain's status can be resolved."

BTW, any chance we could go back to the habit of showing the whole link? I find it quite useful to see what links are without having to mouseover or click.

(Unless anyone objects.)

Brr, I could do with a nice Brew this morning...

Can do--I sometimes do it the other way on aesthetic grounds. Smile

Yes, links are aesthetically dreadful!Grin

I lean towards utility, for these high-info threads which I sometimes want to text-search, but that's just me.

Ooh!

The Enigmatic Russian Paying Maria Butina's Legal Bills
www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2019/03/alexander-ionov-helps-fund-maria-butinas-legal-bills/585112/

Maria Butina, the first Russian to plead guilty to seeking to infiltrate and influence American policy makers in the run-up to the 2016 election, remains somewhat of a mystery. But her prosecution in Washington, D.C., last year shed light on yet another avenue through which Russia tried to influence American politics in 2016
[...]
In 2018, Alexander Ionov, the founder of the NGO, called the Anti-Globalization Movement, began raising money for Butina
[...]
The fact that Ionov—a 30-year-old Russian lobbyist with ties to the Kremlin—has inserted himself here seems to deepen the intrigue of Butina’s case. (Ionov denied to me that he works for the Russian government.) The Anti-Globalization Movement, a pro-Kremlin nationalist organization that has ties to Russia’s far-right Rodina (Motherland) party and enjoys funding from the Russian government, is in some ways a natural ally for Butina. Both have worked to infiltrate or meddle in American politics—Butina through the National Rifle Association and the conservative, Christian right; and the Anti-Globalization Movement through American separatists on either end of the political spectrum. Though their entry points differed, their central goal was largely the same—to advance Russian interests by exploiting the fault lines in a powerful, but highly divided, Western democracy.

Google hit with €1.5bn fine from EU over advertising
www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47639228

Google has been hit with a €1.49bn (£1.28bn) fine from the EU for blocking rival online search advertisers.
It is the third EU fine for the search and advertising giant in two years.
The case accuses Google of abusing its market dominance by restricting third-party rivals from displaying search ads between 2006 and 2016.
In response, Google changed its AdSense contracts with large third parties, giving them more leeway to display competing search ads.
Google owner Alphabet makes large amounts of money from advertising - pre-tax profits reached $30.7bn (£23bn) in 2018, up from $12.66bn in 2017.
