They've just shown him with a dead rabbit he has caught skinning it in the kitchen

swingofthings, I agree although it is never just black and white. Some people will put up all kinds of reasons why they couldn't possibly move to get work or their child could not go to university and others hav a more can do attitude. Others of course are in a position where nothing they can do could help them as eg they have no arms and are blind and even typing a novel from home would be impossible work for them to do.

I do think if you are lucky enough to be a risk taker in life things can go well. A lot of things I have done have failed but a lot that has worked out fine has come about through taking a risk others might not take. If you have no internal sense of self worth however you often don't want to take risks because you "know you will fail". Also realities come into it - I will never be a professional footballer and someone tone deaf could not ba singer etc. So it is somehow combining realism with taking some risks too.

Eg a family in dire poverty might be attracted to their 16 year old son going into the army. Apparently they are 5000 short on recruits as too many were rejected some just for having acne so it might be worth making a fresh application even at age 15 for when you turn 16 if you want to get out of poverty and see the world a bit.
