Recently single, dealing with the pain and disappointment still, so not quite ready to meet anyone new yet.

But I’m constantly being told by friends that the “right one will come along when you’re not looking” Confused

I’m not great at meeting new people, so just looking for some hope, I guess?

Pub

Monkeybunkey · 31/01/2019 10:39

After a year or so of being on and off online dating and almost giving up, I met him in my local pub. Don't give up - one of the first things we talked about was how happy we both were being single. We got together a few weeks later!

1stTimeMama · 31/01/2019 10:39

I literally found him when I wasn't looking for him.

He was a guest at my first wedding!

AverageHuman · 31/01/2019 10:41

Honestly, maybe they will, maybe they won’t. I met mine through a friend when I had just accepted I might always be alone!

If you want to meet someone I’d stay open to it as you can become quite stuck in your own ways over time haha.

But just do what you do, keep yourself happy and healthy and it will happen.

I have a friend who met a wonderful DH online but kissed a huge number of frogs before her prince came along!

Nottobesoldseparately · 31/01/2019 10:41

In a pub.
It was his local and my place of work.

Escapenextyear · 31/01/2019 10:42

POF
Been together 5 years

Slippershoes · 31/01/2019 10:45

He was in a band with my scummy ex.

tubthumping91 · 31/01/2019 10:45

I have no issue with online dating - Met my ex on a popular site. Met the ex before that on a night out in a bar, the one before that in a pub, the one before that was a friend of a friend!

So I’ve met people in a variety of ways, but I’m older and bigger now, things aren’t as perky as they used to be...

I’m only 27 but afraid I’ll be on the shelf forever Blush

At a party.

ratherbeshowjumping · 31/01/2019 10:50

He was my boss...

PandaCat · 31/01/2019 10:50

At school, I realise that's not helpful but I wasn't looking for a boyfriend, and when he asked me I certainly didn't believe it would last past the summer! It's been 10 years now.

So I guess sometimes it does happen when you're not looking!?

Lolly86 · 31/01/2019 10:51

Work

ErickBroch · 31/01/2019 10:51

Work! Coincidentally I was leaving just as we got together, but we were friends when working there.

Margomini · 31/01/2019 10:52

On Tinder!! Yes not all guys on there appear to be after just one thing! Well at least not my guy! Smile

We've now been together for two year and have a house and dog together...I was very much like you OP. Came out of a LT shit relationship and really didn't ever think I would find the right guy...even though friends kept saying I would....I feel very lucky as I think I genuinely did!

Weird fact though...since being together we realised that we both lived at the same time, I the same suburb of another city about 3 streets away from each other and both said we are glad we didn't meet back then c. 2006 as we definitely wouldn't be together now GrinWe were both a bit wayward!

TheSandgroper · 31/01/2019 10:52

I went to ask my mother to run an errand. She said to come back for dinner. She had a stranger there.

Megan2018 · 31/01/2019 10:52

Online, he was my first and only online date, now DH. I was 35 and had been single for 10 years

AmIOTTconcerned · 31/01/2019 10:53

I used to see him on the train and really fancied him even though he looked fed up and tired. I never made it obvious though and preferred to sit back and admire.

A little while later my friend suggested a double date with her Dp's friend and it was the guy from the train. Hit it off straight away and we've been together 8 years this year.

I think most people meet at social events/bars etc.

MRex · 31/01/2019 10:54

27 - you're still a baby.

I met mine in a club where we shared a fair amount of rum punch, I was a lot older than you. I'd been doing a lot of online dating and was still going on some dates, I'd been losing faith for a while.

MisterDog · 31/01/2019 10:54

He was a security guard where I worked.

Otherpeoplesteens · 31/01/2019 10:55

I had been single for seven long years including some soul-destroying online dating attempts and had pretty much given up at the age of 37. We had both been nominated to join the voluntary board of an organisation dear to our hearts and haven't looked back since.

lostelephant · 31/01/2019 10:56

Fell down the stairs onto him in a bar BlushGrin

Doghorsechicken · 31/01/2019 10:56
