To ask you how you met your DP?

Recently single, dealing with the pain and disappointment still, so not quite ready to meet anyone new yet.

But I’m constantly being told by friends that the “right one will come along when you’re not looking” Confused

I’m not great at meeting new people, so just looking for some hope, I guess?

At the baggage carousel in an airport in Africa. Neither of us was meant to be there - we were both meant to be going on other holidays that got cancelled. And we lived 4,000 miles from each other.

The pub. He was a friend of a friend, and I wasn't looking. We had a long conversation about films which we could both only hear about 50% of over the shit DJ.

This was before Tinder etc and thank god - for every good story I hear about that there seem to be about 50 absolute disaster dates/unsolicited photos of someone's wang.

At a social group he was with someone when I noticed him thought nothing of it,

12/18 months later Mutual friend was sitting badminton out and it was cancelled, first noticed him properly then my meal out I had to cancel due to illness so asked him to see if he could host it, and he did and it took off from there - even visited me in hospital - hardly knew him!

Neither of us looking at all, he just finished a relationship! So it was secret for quite a while!

I met mine on holiday. I went with a friend and she said she was going to meet up with a guy she and met the previous summer and he was bringing a friend. I told her no way was I going to be set up with some strange man and almost cancelled.

I did go, and I met the strange man and we have now been married for nearly 15 years!

We knew each other as part of the same wider group invited to the same parties etc but didn't have a conversation or even notice each other until a friends 30th in a bar. I had seen him online actually and thought oh there's that guy who is flatmate with so and so but dismissed him based on my own assumptions and prejudices.

Ex after husband - guardian soulmates
Current boyfriend- Bumble. He just might a keeper. I'm 38, lone parent to two kids and I was 37 when I met him.

PoF - I'd been on there for a year and almost given up. He had been dumped about a week before and joined.

Married, 5 years together, second child on the way.

At a gig. My friend had buggered off early due to a migraine and I'd decided to stay by myself to watch the main band. He thought I was the lead singer's girlfriend and only started talking to me to try and get to meet them.

I was finally ready to date again after a marriage break up and I was barely swiping on anyone, he made the cut, we matched, had a lovely date and both deactivated our tinder accounts soon after!

My DF brought him to a Tolkien Society meeting, he's his best friend, I had a bad reaction to a kidney infection and blacked out, "D"F fucked off, now DH stayed with me until the ambulance came, met someone else, split up, met now DH again at a religious event.

Literally when I decided I wasn't looking.

We met at the pub (a skanky one at that) when both of us had reservations of going out that night at all.

We've been together just over 8 years now, married for 2.5.
