Recently single, dealing with the pain and disappointment still, so not quite ready to meet anyone new yet.

But I’m constantly being told by friends that the “right one will come along when you’re not looking” Confused

I’m not great at meeting new people, so just looking for some hope, I guess?

These are gorgeous stories, thank you Flowers

@MRex I don’t feel young at all 😂

Doesn’t help that I have gotten myself into a Groundhog Day kind of situation...

Get up, rush for work, work, home, eat, tv and bed - Weekends, just take work out Blush

Match.com. 5 years next week! :)

OrangeFluff · 31/01/2019 11:18

Met my current boyfriend on Match december 2017 after both of our marriages ended. I was 33, he was 32. I was on there for about 2 months and he was the first man that I wanted to go on a date with. Thought it would just be a "dipping my toes in" date, but fell head over heels and now very happy.

We met through work.

Lululemonade · 31/01/2019 11:26

On Twitter 🙈

At a part time job, my first ever shift was due to be his last one before he went back to uni to study, he ended up coming back in the summer to do some more!
Our first conversation was after I trapped myself in the staff toilet and he came and kicked the door open! Such romance...

I met dh in the queue for the Last Night of the Proms. I started queuing on the Thursday before the last night, which was a Saturday and, after the Thursday night concert, some friends I had made in the queue took me to the pub with them, and I met dh there - he had been queuing for a week or more by then. We were kipping outside Doors 9 and 10, and spent ages talking to each other before falling asleep.

He went off to work the next morning (in those days, you put your name down in the queue, and as long as you were physically there overnight, you could go away in the daytime), and I looked out for him again that evening.

On the Saturday morning, he invited me back to his flat to have a shower and some breakfast, and then we went back to the Royal Albert Hall in time to rejoin the queue and go to the Last Night together. We were in the front row, too - and actually made it onto the TV coverage.

We technically 'met' at a house party, but thought not much of him

We 'met' as in really connected when he saved me from suicide when no one else what there

We met online, on Tinder to be more exact. I was in the middle of moving flats at the time, and we had a brilliant chat for about an hour or so the night we matched and got on brilliantly, only ended as he had to get to bed to be up for work. Brilliant I thought! Wished me luck with moving. Messages me a day or 2 later to ask how it's all gone, and I was rather snappy (embarrassed now) because my bed just WOULD NOT go together and I was so tired and he didn't reply. Was so annoyed at myself for blowing it when we had got on so well - so I messaged him a few days later and explained the stress levels, and asked him for a drink! And the rest, as they, is history.

I had been single for most of my 20's, patchy dates here and there from being online or meeting people out in pubs - never took off. Thought I was destined for a life of singledom, and then boom! Funny thing is I only decided to go back on Tinder as my 2 best friends had started dating people and I didn't want to be sad and single while they were all coupled up, so I bit the bullet!

Met my exh in a pub as students.

Not much time to go to the pub now so this is interesting!

My best mates kitchen.

Her brother had come to stay, I went in and there he was. I said hi, but kind of ignored him. Then as I was leaving he made a joke and smiled and I was hooked. Took a year or so, as I had just left a marriage and needed space. But it was worth the weight.

Accountant222 · 31/01/2019 11:54

In a pub, my friend and I only went to that pub because it was really bad fog, how I wish we had just cancelled the night out.

Ifangyow · 31/01/2019 11:54

He came through my bedroom window at 3 in the morning, clutching a packet of frozen sausages and landed on top of me.
I was fast asleep in bed and had never seen him before in my life!

Boysandbuses · 31/01/2019 11:55

Weight??????

Wait obviously

Nevergotobedfangry · 31/01/2019 11:57

When I wasnt looking. Seen each other here and there passing ect. Turned out we had a mutual friend and was introduced one night in the pub. Clicked straight away. Our mutual friend wasn't impressed at alll though!

RoboticSealpup · 31/01/2019 11:58

He used to be work colleagues with one of my closest friends at the time. They had a big company party and people were allowed to bring friends along.

Kingofthenorth · 31/01/2019 11:58

Tinder
Been together 4yrs
Getting married later this year

DaphneduM · 31/01/2019 11:58

At work - a very lovely distraction from my boring job!

CaptainCabinets · 31/01/2019 11:59

On PoF Blush, the first date was an utter disaster, I stormed out and told him to delete my number. Grin

I got home and realised I’d been a strop arse, heard nothing for a few days until he apologised for upsetting me, took me out for a drink to apologise in person, which turned into dinner.

Almost six years later we’re in the process of applying for our first mortgage. Grin

There was a close shave 2 years ago where I ended things because I was getting cold feet about moving in together but we got through it Smile

So it goes to show, even if you literally tell The One to go away, they’ll come back if it’s meant to be.

DeadButDelicious · 31/01/2019 12:02

The pub. He was the bartender.

thatsmyspace · 31/01/2019 12:06

It's true what your friend says "it will come along when you least expect it"

I'd had a fb clear out and wanted some fresh faces. Adding people who I had mutual friends with, a week later I got a inbox message from my now husband asking "do I know you" 🙄 it just went from there. Been together 7 years now.
