Warwick Police haven't prosecuted anyone for these vile rape threats and Warwick uni are now letting (some of?) the perpetrators back in to study at the same university alongside those they discussed threatening to rape.

Would you be happy sending your child here?

Warwick students suspended over rape threats allowed to return earlyly*_

MrsAdrianeOliver Firstly, I've never heard that joke by Sharon Osbourne, secondly, no I wouldn't have found it funny, and thirdly, were all the people in the audience laughing women?

If you seriously believe that women haven't been vilified for far, far, less than these men and had their names flung far and wide, their lives and careers destroyed then you are truly living on another planet.

Threatening to rape and mutilate women and the use of racial and anti semitic language is not a joke.

Beerflavourednipples · 31/01/2019 10:56

Yes, I find it hard to imagine that if they’d been Muslim students talking about how badly they want to blow up lecture theatres and mutilate specific, named students on their course, that they’d be allowed back in and excused as “Oh its just banter nothing actually happened, let’s not ruin their lives!”

Yes this is true and I would be interested to know the 'they didn't actually do anything' brigade's view on this?

53rdWay · 31/01/2019 10:57

It’s definitely not just Warwick Whyyounoeatmypie. Happened at the uni I went to - male student in halls raped his neighbour, was arrested and admitted to it. University at first kicked him out of halls but then when he changed his plea to not guilty were happy to allow him back in until the trial, including giving him his old room back.

tattyheadsmum · 31/01/2019 10:58

@MrsAriadneOliver - are you really that obtuse? JacquesHammer is using your words back at you Confused. So you're now taking offence at your own words? Just amazing.

AhhhHereItGoes · 31/01/2019 10:58

These boys are just sick, immature twats who likely don't have the brain cells for a degree.

It sounds like they are trying to be as edgy as they can.

I hope in 20 years time they are disgusted by themselves.

Honestly if they were making jokes to each other about raping each other it would be crass but at least mutual.

However, they are vile about these women. I don't care if they are only young. I take responsibility for my actions when young and 18 (?) is old enough to not behave like a complete cunt.

Like I say, they wouldn't find it funny if they were raped.

If they get death threats on social media I'm sure it's just a bit of fun and a joke! They should lighten up.

Ophiophagus · 31/01/2019 10:58

There was a guy who tweeted about blowing up an airport due to delays. It was a joke and said in jest. Angry jest but a joke.

He was prosecuted for bomb threats.

User758172 · 31/01/2019 11:00

It’s not either/or. I don’t think it’s helpful to treat people as victims - that’s my opinion, but neither do I expect them to just get over it. There is a middle way.

And for all their supposed concern for victims of abuse and racism, a PP told me the abuse directed my way was justified and they could think of a few more names to call me! Simply because I don’t hold the same views as the rest of you, as a result of those very experiences!

PlantsArePeopleToo · 31/01/2019 11:00

I understand there was racism but it wasn't the main target of the chat and AFAIK they didn't threaten anyone because of it. However still unacceptable.

I do wonder how forgiving both the uni and the people defending them would be if they were threatening violence against black students or gay student or disabled students or trans students.

Something tells me that the university would be much less likely to let them back and if they had let them back then public backlash would be far greater than it is....

User758172 · 31/01/2019 11:01

@tattyheadsmum

For crying out loud, of course I recognise my own words Hmm

Waspnest · 31/01/2019 11:04

Best thing we can do is share the names and images of those men far and wide. I work in a senior role in one of the industries that a fair few of them would be interested in.

Completely agree. I've started making a note of these names and I fully intend to drop things casually into relevant conversations/online chats such as 'Prior Park College, isn't that the private catholic school that that bloke Ben Clements (who threatened to rape women in private group chats) went to? ' 'Warwick Uni, isn't that the place where the authorities allowed blokes like < > to threaten rape in group chats and get away with it? Who would want their daughter to go there?' etc.

GCAcademic · 31/01/2019 11:06

I hope in 20 years time they are disgusted by themselves

I hope so too, but I seriously doubt it. I imagine in 20 years time, they’ll be Brett Kavanagh types, doing very nicely indeed for themselves despite a trajectory of assaulting women. That’s what happens when you’re a privileged white man. And that’s what they’ll have learnt from this whole incident.

Schuyler · 31/01/2019 11:06

Ugh this was not the odd rape joke, which is appalling on its own, this is ongoing systematic hate speech. I cannot believe anyone could read what was written and think they should be allowed to remain on campus.

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 31/01/2019 11:07

Same thing happened to me at McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon. I was sexually assaulted by student at home, reported it to the college, and he is still in my year group cohort.

Buccanarab · 31/01/2019 11:07

@JacquesHammer

They didn’t rape anyone
Can you guarantee they won't?

No but we can't guarantee you won't either. We don't live in the minority report universe.

Just to clarify I think the boys in this are absolute c**ts.

Scifi101 · 31/01/2019 11:08

That petition won't let me sign it. Anyone else had problems?

JacquesHammer · 31/01/2019 11:09

No but we can't guarantee you won't either. We don't live in the minority report universe

Actually, I'm female so whilst you can't guarantee I won't sexually assualt someone, you can guarantee I won't rape someone.

However you totally missed the point of my post.

Bluestitch · 31/01/2019 11:11

No but we can't guarantee you won't either. We don't live in the minority report universe.

The difference is that these men have actually threatened to rape named women. So the university is now on notice.

KittensAndCake · 31/01/2019 11:11

That petition won't let me sign it. Anyone else had problems?

No, it worked for me.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 31/01/2019 11:13

And if they do go on to rape a woman at university, I hope nobody kicks off and starts demanding to know why they were let back in when they had already made threats previously Wink

Actually, scratch that. If they do rape someone then I hope the university does face backlash. Perhaps it will make them think twice next time before letting such sexists cunts back in.

Beerflavourednipples · 31/01/2019 11:22

It is strange how gender critical women are having the police at their door, being reported to their employers, being suspended from their political parties, for daring to say that men can't become women.

And yet these men get no consequence at all.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 31/01/2019 11:25

But they are transwomen Beerflavourednipples which makes them far more important than us lowly cis women Shock Wink.

MotherOfDragonite · 31/01/2019 11:26

Shocking. These students should not be allowed back, certainly not while their victims are still attending the university, but potentially beyond that too. Warwick is sending the message that these kinds of graphic threats of sexual violence against women are acceptable! And that the victims don't matter!

PlantsArePeopleToo · 31/01/2019 11:27

It's interesting though how misgendering someone is literal violence but actually threatening to rape someone isn't...

Fazackerley · 31/01/2019 11:28

Yup I thought that (about the misgendering)

Where is the Warwick SU in all this?

PlantsArePeopleToo · 31/01/2019 11:30

If a group of students had a private FB chat where they continually misgendered a trans person then I guarantee the university would not have been so forgiving and wouldn't be so quick to let them back in.

Threatening women with rape however that's fine, it's just bantz and you can come back Hmm
