So in lie of my other thread, I'm in rent arrears. I decided to delve into this and see by how much to get it paid.
UC did not pay my rent for October, hence the arrears. I'm just off the phone the guy said "UC is paid 13 months, the rent is 12 months so for one of those months rent will not be paid"
He also said this months rent will not be paid.
Making me over 700 pound in arrears 😭 wtf

No I have 3 young children, I don't currently work. I think in November I done work with agency and got £27. Is that the reason? 😭 I could cry right now!!

You can ask your local citizens advice bureau for help if you’re having trouble understanding what the UC people are saying (I don’t blame you - it almost sounds like they’re deliberately being obtuse).

If it doesn’t get better, try contacting your MP - especially if you have a Labour MP.

I've no personal experience but from what I read here and other sites as soon as your income changes UC fuck up. And it's invariably costly to the claimant.
Did you mention to HA yet? Keep them in the loop they should have some understanding of UC issues.

Can you apply for a DHP? Who is your HA

My universal credit is paid monthly so i dont understand why this has happened to you. Can you call again and speak to someone else

The guy from UC said to phone my landlord and get them to contact UC, I honestly cannot understand this.
And I've done no work since November, so why isn't January's rent paid? 😭 I'm already in 350 pound arrears as I moved into the house in March, and it wasn't until April that I got put onto UC and I thought the payment would go straight to them but apparently never. So I was aware I owed that but now I've to find two months rent??! 😭

And on my payments it says that the two payments October and and January were paid to my landlord. So are UC just dicking about with an extra 700 pounds??!

That’s not right at all- UC is 12 monthly payments. If you pay rent using a weekly rate it is multiplied by 52 and divided by 12 as otherwise it would be 13 month payments. Message the case manager again and ask for clarification

If you haven't already,you might be able to apply to your water authority for reduced bills. Some will even help you with debt. Google the name of your water board and then Trust Fund, like Severn Trent Trust Fund.

Double check with HA that they haven't sent two random direct payments, just in case.

They did send two payments in December but the HA definitely said two months payments have been missed

Our housing association have changed our rent to 13 payments a year in preparation for uc.

I will go to my council and see about a form for the dhp, I just feel so stressed with this now 😭 I'm in a house that I hate, can't even have the heating on because I can't afford it and I'm in debt with them from the last tenant😭 and to make it worse I now owe hundreds fuck

You need a full breakdown of payments lass, from the HA and UC and then total up yourself.
Someone is cocking up.
The arrears you knew about (from when UC started) have you made payment arrangements?

If any benefits for rent are paid directly to the landlord, you cannot be evicted if there are missing payments by HB

I've got my rent statement here, no payment from UC on the 10th month and nothing from this month.
Two payments were made on the 12th month but it's still in two month arrears.
Yeah I currently pay 30 a month it's all I can afford but I noticed the payments I make weren't making the total go down, no wonder because months have gone missing!!

Keep all your paperwork and send it through repeatedly. If it's not gone in your bank account then you haven't spent it so they can't do anything.

The payment goes to the landlord, says on the online payments that it has gone to them but the HA says it hasn't

We send your rent payments to your landlord 4-weekly, so there are 13 potential payments to landlord per year. However, we make only 12 monthly payments of rent to your landlord. Therefore, for one of the 4-weekly dates each year no rent payment will be made to landlord. This is why no payment was sent to your landlord in October 2018. Thanks

That's what they said on my journal. So it is a thing apparently, but to give no warning is cruel

The payment arrangements and it being paid direct show the HA that you are in the process of sorting it so should make them more amenable.
DHP is a good start.
You need a CAB to navigate UC and hopefully get some clarity.
