So in lie of my other thread, I'm in rent arrears. I decided to delve into this and see by how much to get it paid.
UC did not pay my rent for October, hence the arrears. I'm just off the phone the guy said "UC is paid 13 months, the rent is 12 months so for one of those months rent will not be paid"
He also said this months rent will not be paid.
Making me over 700 pound in arrears 😭 wtf

How. One you’re on UC with three children? Why aren’t you on HB?

Continue1 · 18/01/2019 16:59

I don't get money for the third child obviously, because moving house meant I was put onto UC

What do you mean you're in debt with them from the last tenant? Do you mean there was debt left on the gas/electric meters?

Bombardier25966 · 18/01/2019 17:01

How often do they pay your landlord?

UC is paid four weekly, not monthly. Your housing element should be calculated on that basis. Are they saying they are paying it on a monthly basis instead?

allthingsred · 18/01/2019 17:02

Check with you local council. They maybe able to help you with a dhp (discretion hardship payment) not paid to everyone, bit worth a shot

No, the house has electric heating, they left all the heaters on. I turned them off upon entry to the house, but apparently wasn't quick enough and racked up debt Confused I can't remember the last time I put the heaters on as I'm so scared it's going to be expensive.
I don't know when they pay it tbh, I get UC on the 4th, my HA said they don't receive payment until the middle of the month but this statement here shoes they've received it on the 6th, the 12th, the 13th, the 19th for example. So I don't actually know

What are the exact dates of the last six payments to your landlord?

UC is paid monthly, on the same date each month. OP please go and see your local CAB, I'm sure they will be able to help. They can also help with the form for DHP.

There's a new scheme coming in that landlords can apply online to receive HB directly - to replace the scheme years ago for landlords to receive HB directly due to benefit mistakes

ArnoldBee · 18/01/2019 17:20

You shouldn't even be on uc as you have 3 children so it's even more messed up. Migration for more than 2 children onto uc has not begun yet. You need to tell them this error.

I don't get payment for the third child, so as far as they are concerned that it is right? :(

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 18/01/2019 17:29

You’ve clearly mistunderstood OP.

Has your landlord requested an alternative payment arrangement? (APA) as YOU should have paid your landlord in April for the March’s payment, so where did this money go?

I’d request a written statement from your landlord, and also UC.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 18/01/2019 17:29

*Balance statement

Continue1 · 18/01/2019 17:31

I don't know what an apa is, I thought I was being covered by housing benefit for April's payment, as I didn't phone UC until 17th April I think it was. I moved in 26th March, contacted HB right away and they changed my address over so I assumed they'd pay it

CatToddlerUprising · 18/01/2019 17:31

Saywot- landlords have been able to request direct payment for a long time under UC, it’s done via the landlord portal.

Continue1 · 18/01/2019 17:31

I've got the balance statement here from my landlord which is HA, I owe over 700 pound

OP posts:
HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 18/01/2019 17:33

UC - 3 child element has started to role out in some areas.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 18/01/2019 17:34

OP who pays your rent?

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 18/01/2019 17:36

OP sorrynyour not making any sense at all.

When did you first make a claim for UC? Your would have been responsible for your rent the moment your tenancy started.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 18/01/2019 17:38

There's a new scheme coming in that landlords can apply online to receive HB directly

This isn’t a new scheme, it’s always been a priority clause in UC
