So in lie of my other thread, I'm in rent arrears. I decided to delve into this and see by how much to get it paid.
UC did not pay my rent for October, hence the arrears. I'm just off the phone the guy said "UC is paid 13 months, the rent is 12 months so for one of those months rent will not be paid"
He also said this months rent will not be paid.
Making me over 700 pound in arrears 😭 wtf

Even on the phone the guy said that the dates I gave for the payment don't match up with what he has on his system. He said they don't sound like typical dates it would be paid. But calculating them it's 4 weekly.
I'm paid UC monthly I'd have thought.

This is what happens when UC pay the landlord on your behalf. It's completely stupid but it is, how it is.
Unless your HA insist on this, you are far better having the money to your own bank and paying rent as necessary.

It's really important to know your tenancy type, as this will make a huge difference of what rights you have regarding these arrears

No it's not right you shouldn't be in UC even though you don't get paid for the third child. You need to complain and get it sorted!

ArnoldBee · 19/01/2019 16:04

It says it here!
www.gov.uk/universal-credit/eligibility

Do all your payment statements since the start of your claim show the amount for housing element

Continue1 · 19/01/2019 20:21

Yeah, all of them but it says "you will get 1050, 351 we take off for your landlord"

Can you not put in a new claim for tax credits and housing benefit then?

Get the rent money paid to you directly if not.

chasegirl · 20/01/2019 11:16

So the housing is in you monthly calculation and is being paid. I gave looked on gov.uk and it does look like its your landlord not looking at the payments they are getting correctly. I will see if I can upload what I found for you

Not sure that's clear but basically UC calculate and pay your rent monthly but the landlord system is 28 days so 4 weekly or 13 periods per year so the dates won't match up but your landlord should know this and allocate the amount they receive correctly.
