Toilet brush or no toilet brush?!

How does everyone clean their toilet brushes?

arranbubonicplague · 14/01/2019 10:55

Household Bathroom Rules

Only pee, paper, and poo,
Environmentalists say.
But defiling our show loo
Is just not our household's way

More to follow? When I think of what the proposed, anatomically feasible solutions would be.

lynnepot · 14/01/2019 10:58

I don't see the toilet brush, if used correctly as being a germ factory. Just put bleach down the loo and leave it for a ten minutes or so then go in with the brush and flush. All the nasties will have been killed long before the brush enters the toilet. A correctly used toilet brush is like the chicken and the egg. If there are no germs in the bleached toilet then how is there a germ factory on the brush? If there is a germ factory on the brush then said germ factory perish in the bleachy toilet in the next toilet clean. I really do think people are over complicating the matter.

No brush here. Both our upstairs toilets have a bath in the room with mixer taps and spray attachments - squirt of domestos and spray with hot water from the shower hose. Simples. The 'show toilet' is downstairs.

MrsJayy · 14/01/2019 11:05

That is genuis but if i tried to shower the pan id end up soaked your aim must be spot on clavinova

Notso · 14/01/2019 11:23

Hot water and bleach. I hate using bleach but nothing else seems to work.
DH mourns the toilet brush.

BlackInk · 14/01/2019 11:29

If using bleach you should only ever use cold water. Fumes created when used with hot water are toxic, and bleach kills germs better with cold water.

When my DD was about two I found her sat on toilet seat brushing her hair delightedly with the toilet brush.
I threw it away and have a terrible aversion ever since.

Zoflorabore · 14/01/2019 12:37

I buy tubs of bleach tablets from Tesco and throw one down every night before bed.
Toilet gets cleaned in the morning. I don't do brushes.

I replace the toilet seat every 3/4 months probably, don't like nice when not sparkling new. I do have diagnosed OCD and am aware I'm a bit weird though.

Remember to always close the lid before flushing. So many people don't do that including my kids

Notso · 14/01/2019 14:01

I think that was aimed at me BlackInk I should have clarified I don't use them together.

Pinkprincess1978 · 14/01/2019 22:35

I use disposable anti bacterial wipes and then add a generously layer of bleach all around the bowl from rim down. No lime scale here.

Candymay · 14/01/2019 22:42

I’ve never used a brush. I’m too squeamish. I put bleach in and if needed for blobs I use a wad of loo roll and wipe. My young child is sleeping next to me right now and just did a really poo full fart as I wrote my toilet cleaning tip.
