WIBU to get pizza delivered to DD's school for her birthday lunch?

I apparently am known as 'that' parent and have been given the side eye the few times I've gone in since!

It was DD's 16th last month on a school day. I ordered a few pizzas to be sent to school at lunchtime so she could share them with her mates in the common room. Teachers were not going to let her have themHmm and when they relented (by the time they got cold) made her and a few friends eat them in a separate meeting room when she had planned to share them as there was enough for about 20 people!

I don't see it as being that different from me bringing in a forgotten lunch box?

I also ordered flowers and a balloon to be delivered and school refused to let her have them until after school had finished.

I was trying to make DD's day special. I really didn't think would have been that much of an issue which ruined it a bit for DD.

WIBU?

That's nice dear.

GrandTheftWalrus · 12/01/2019 22:07

Probably got her a cake and told the whole neighbourhood.

I imagine you'd be equally horrified to know what I did to mark her first period then .

Didn't think this thread could get any cringe-er. I was so so wrong.

BrilliantDarling · 12/01/2019 22:07

@PizzaMom I imagine you'd be equally horrified to know what I did to mark her first period then grin.

Please tell me 😂

FruminousBandersnatch · 12/01/2019 22:09

I think it's a nice idea, although having a pizza delivery AND a flower delivery on the same day is pushing it!

Aaaahfuck · 12/01/2019 22:09

I think troll hunting is banned. So I'll not do it but......

DancingWithMyself · 12/01/2019 22:10

I've heard of period parties before (that parents throw a big party to "celebrate" the first period). Please say you did not do this.
I would have left home if my folks had thrown me a period party. The shame!

Bouledeneige · 12/01/2019 22:13

So ridiculously precious.

But I guess it helps the bullies to spot who they should pick on. The spoilt little princesses who the whole world revolves around.

Sweet 16 is another humongous pile of crap marketed to idiot parents.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 12/01/2019 22:14

Excuse me? You did something to mark her first period? Please tell me this is not A Thing!!

Please don't tell me period parties are an actual thing 😱

Given the american cultural bias of the thread and the apparent mean girl only my friends can have pizza in the communal area. I suspect that the bullies may not be the people that you think they are.

Greensleeves · 12/01/2019 22:17

I have a very dear friend whose family celebrated her "becoming a woman" with wine and a bit of a party. They were delightful, intelligent people, slightly eccentric. It did nobody any harm. Room on the broom and all that...

PatricksRum · 12/01/2019 22:19

Wow.
She's 16 not 6.
So she's in year 11 or beyond and you're ordering pizza? She can wait till she finishes. Confused
How embarrassing

MortyVicar · 12/01/2019 22:20

Eminybob - Are you Beverley Goldberg?

Nah, my money's on her being Samantha Brick. Same lack of a grip on reality.

So glad my mom hated me enough not to do this. Op you are a cf. Grin

For her period did you have a party with bunting made out of sanitary products and a cake in the shape of female genitals?

People could play the game of 'guess which tampon strength DD will use'

Theimpossiblegirl · 12/01/2019 22:24

We took DD and a friend for a nice lunch by the sea and gave them wristbands for the pier as a treat when she got her first period. It was to cheer her up the weekend before SATS (awful time to start) and only she knew what the treat was really for.
Beginning to think I should have sent pizzas and red balloons into school...

brokenhead · 12/01/2019 22:25
