WIBU to get pizza delivered to DD's school for her birthday lunch?

I apparently am known as 'that' parent and have been given the side eye the few times I've gone in since!

It was DD's 16th last month on a school day. I ordered a few pizzas to be sent to school at lunchtime so she could share them with her mates in the common room. Teachers were not going to let her have themHmm and when they relented (by the time they got cold) made her and a few friends eat them in a separate meeting room when she had planned to share them as there was enough for about 20 people!

I don't see it as being that different from me bringing in a forgotten lunch box?

I also ordered flowers and a balloon to be delivered and school refused to let her have them until after school had finished.

I was trying to make DD's day special. I really didn't think would have been that much of an issue which ruined it a bit for DD.

WIBU?

It's school, not a party. I can't help think you were showing off, that's not normal behaviour really.

heartyrebel · 12/01/2019 19:58

Does your daughter enjoy being the centre of attention at school? I bet they have a few laughs about this in the staff room.
My daughter would die if I did that to her.

'Look at me, look at me, I'm the coolest mum ever' Confused

weebarra · 12/01/2019 20:00

I really hope this isn't true. It's a lovely idea but such an inappropriate thing to do.

NoIsACompleteButRudeSentence · 12/01/2019 20:00

Gosh, it's literally unbelievable.

Ohhgreat · 12/01/2019 20:01

Average secondary school has nearly 2000 pupils, that's 6 people have their birthday every day. Imagine if every parent did what you did!

FitzChivarly · 12/01/2019 20:01

What did your daughter think of it OP??

Walnutwhipster · 12/01/2019 20:01

Please stop, how embarrassing!!

Gazelda · 12/01/2019 20:01

Erm, that was uncomfortable to read! Isn't it like driving your child to school in a rolls Royce? Or letting her wear designer shoes with her uniform?

SaucyJack · 12/01/2019 20:02

YANBU.

Ignore the other posters Hun. They’re just jealous because they don’t love their kids as much as you love yours.

Your DD is special, and totally deserves to be the only kid in a school of 1500 to have a birthday pizza lunch delivered to and eaten in the classroom.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 12/01/2019 20:02

You were being flashy. I could make a guess at who you are..... Grin

dontticklethetoad · 12/01/2019 20:02

At our school there is a child with an anaphylactic dairy allergy.
YABU and ridiculous. I think you like being that parent.

Fairylightfurore · 12/01/2019 20:02

I'm surprised the school let the kids have them at all. Aren't they really focussed on keeping lunch boxes healthy and banning kids buying fast foods on lunchbreaks etc? This kind of fly's in the face of school policy. A nice idea for ordering to your house after school, but not really appropriate for the middle of a school day. Have school said anything to you?

JuniperSling · 12/01/2019 20:02

Never heard of anyone doing anything like this before. How weird.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 12/01/2019 20:02

Why not just invite your DD's friends for tea and order the bloody pizza then?

If this is real then it's more about you showing off than your child's birthday.
Delivering flowers to the school ffs?!

alansleftfoot · 12/01/2019 20:05

Was she supposed to cart the balloon and flowers around with her from lesson to lesson ?!

PizzaMom · 12/01/2019 20:05

DD actually suggested it herself. She was waiting for them.

It was a Friday anyway!

16 years are surely capable of being responsible for their own dietary issues.

My mum let me take my birthday off school every year. Maybe you should do that? Although teachers were furious I did that.

Celebelly · 12/01/2019 20:05

This is like when Ross keeps sending Rachel's work all these embarrassing and inappropriate gifts cos he thinks she's got a crush on Mark. Bizarre.

thatsmycoat · 12/01/2019 20:07

Some year 11s at a school I used to work at used to order a dominos every Tuesday. Not sure why it’s suck a big deal tbh.

GrammarTeacher · 12/01/2019 20:07

Yes, you were being unreasonable.

ZanyMobster · 12/01/2019 20:07

OMG how embarassing!

NicoleNoPants · 12/01/2019 20:07

It’s bad enough the 200 balloons all teenage girls seem to recieve from friends nowadays, make it impossible to get down the corridor!

Workissueshelp · 12/01/2019 20:07

Wow, way to show your child the high value you put on their education!
