Sorry..

This will seem pathetic.

I am emetophobic and have been sick about 7 times tonight and I feel so anxious and vile.

My have sent my darling OH downstairs to sleep as I would prefer to be alone.

I just want it over

Can you get to a 24 hour pharmacy and get an anti emetic?
What is the cause?

MrsMyreton · 07/01/2019 02:41

Hi @hugsee

I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. I have a friend who suffers from emetophobia and I know how much it affects her whole life.

Hand hold and Thanks

I'm awake as DD has a cough which is keeping her up all night Sad

Lillygolightly · 07/01/2019 02:41

I know this won’t help much right now but peppermint really helps calm an upset tummy so might be worth getting some in for the future. You can get it in tea form or in capsules and places like Holland and Barret do it.

Secondly hand hold, there isn’t anything you can do but ride it out but you will be ok!

I had severe health and hygiene related ocd for many years. I got myself a mantra to repeat in high anxiety situations and also had (sounds silly but worked) a small silk bag filled with vanilla smellies and I’d repeat my mantra, hold the bag close to my face so I could smell it and took myself off to my safe place in my mind.

My mantra if it helps was: it will be ok, I will be ok...

SuperSange · 07/01/2019 02:43

ThanksThanks I hope it passes soon for you x

octoberfarm · 07/01/2019 02:44

Oh, you poor thing. I'm emetophobic too and understand how absolutely horrible and scared you must be feeling. Try to remember it'll be over soon, and that you're doing so well. This may even be a chance for you to turn over a new leaf when you look back and see how well you coped. Really hope you feel better soon, but holding your hand in the meantime Thanks

hugsee · 07/01/2019 02:44

I have some already and took one but it clearly didn't work.

I am not sure. I ate dinner and felt really full (too much soup and Diet Coke) then my sugar level was low (diabetic) and therefore drank a load of orange juice. I then felt so uncomfortably full and about an hour later the being sick started.

I am also pregnant and have suspected Ulcerative colitis.

I just don't want to be sick anymore

Thank you so much for posting

Google "Lizzie loves healthy charcoal drink" for next time

AssassinatedBeauty · 07/01/2019 02:52

Can you prop yourself up with pillows and sleep somewhat upright?

Try not to think about tomorrow and the next few days, don't borrow trouble ifyswim.

Ledehe · 07/01/2019 02:54

Oh no this sounds horrible for you. Hopefully you have been sick all you've got inside and that will be the end of it. Think you were just overly full. You've got a lot going on just now and worrying about it can make you feel queasy too.

Get a glass of water and a teaspoon. Teaspoon of water every 5 mins to rehydrate. Don't sip or gulp it down it might be too much water at once.

This will all be ok soon

hugsee · 07/01/2019 02:54

The last time I was sick was 11 years ago from alcohol. I hate not knowing what this is.

OP posts:
Felicitycity · 07/01/2019 02:54

It won't last for days. It's probably not from eating/drinking too much. More likely to be a bug. You should be over the worst of it now. You will feel better soon.
Just have little sips of water.
Hand hold.

hugsee · 07/01/2019 02:55

I am sipping water. Thank you. I keep re reading every comment and it is helping.

OP posts:
hugsee · 07/01/2019 02:57

I'd rather it wasn't a bug to be honest. That worries me even more. I don't want to pass it on to my DD or DP either.

PossibiliTea · 07/01/2019 02:58

Or even ice it gets rid of the taste without having to swallow (which I find makes me feel worse)

Sorry you are feeling like this it’s absolutely awful Flowers you will feel better soon

A23109876 · 07/01/2019 02:59

I had to Google your phobia and now know you must be having a pretty awful time so a handhold from me and I hope you are over the worst. I suffer from a phobia too, musophobia (I just found that on Google too) and guess what's in the house I'm unlucky enough to be spending the night in? I have no car outside or any way of escaping so I'm just sat here with a broom!

PossibiliTea · 07/01/2019 02:59

How far along are you? x

Oddsocksandmeatballs · 07/01/2019 03:01

I used to be emetophobic. My lovely doctor always advised taking water or fluid from a teaspoon in situations like this as it more likely to be absorbed as even sips can be too much. I used to find boiled water was more settling than cold tap water.

hugsee · 07/01/2019 03:02

Hand hold for you too A231. I know someone's Who's DP has the same phobia.

I am 21 weeks pregnant.

I hate feeling out of control and not knowing if more sick is coming.

Thank you again for all the posts .

OP posts:
hugsee · 07/01/2019 03:03

Odd socks - use to be? How did you escape it?

OP posts:
hugsee · 07/01/2019 03:03

Sorry for bad grammar too

OP posts:
CardsforKittens · 07/01/2019 03:05

Oh your poor thing, how awful.
I don't know much about ulcerative colitis - could it make you unwell during pregnancy? The orange juice really shouldn't be the culprit even if you have diabetes.

The only time I was sick that much was when I had food poisoning - but it did actually help with my emetophobia. Probably not what you want to hear right now though.

I hope things settle down and you manage to get some sleep.

OutOntheTilez · 07/01/2019 03:09

Not pathetic at all. Much more reasonable than me. I’m afraid of spiders (although I am getting better) but I still need to do a spider check of our bedroom every night before turning out the light. It takes about five minutes.

Do you have any ginger in the house? Ginger is also supposed to help with nausea. When I was pregnant I would get nauseous if I ate too much; I hope this is the issue for you, in which case, you will feel better.

It's awful being up late at night, unable to sleep. Hand hold from me Flowers Now I'm off to find some spiders . . .

User758172 · 07/01/2019 03:11

Flowers for you, OP.

I can’t pretend to understand how bad you’re feeling, but this too shall pass - it really will Smile
